Scholarley is an unofficial Android client for Mendeley; which is a free and convenient application for managing your library of academic papers (see: http://www.mendeley.com/). Scholarley has been designed for both Android phones and tablets.

If you find a bug in Scholarley, or want to request a new feature, feel free to submit a ticket at http://bugs.matthewwardrop.info; or contact me directly. However, please keep in mind that I am a full time PhD student, and Scholarley is written in my spare time; originally just for myself. Overly critical reviews and impatience are not at all motivating.

<b>Current Features</b>
Scholarley's current features:
- Authentication with Mendeley using OAuth.
- Viewing of document details in a refined format.
- Opening documents and attachments of any format provided that your Android device supports them. An external PDF viewer is required for viewing PDFs.
- A convenient user interface which supports filtering documents by:
   - (sub-)folder
   - group
   - author (with smart deduplication)
   - tags
- And support for sorting documents by title, author, citation key, date of addition to library, and date of last modification.
- Full offline synchronisation of your Mendeley library (including, at your option, PDFs and attachments).
- Local changes to document tags are persistent through synchronisations, but cannot yet be uploaded to Mendeley.

<b>Upcoming Features</b>
Features currently under development include:
- Full persistent local modifications to document metadata.
- Undo support for local changes made to the library.
- Detection of PDF modifications (such as the addition of annotations).
- Refinement of the user interface.

<b>Other planned features for 1.0.0</b>
Scholarley's upcoming and proposed features for 1.0.0 include:
- Local changes to folders (adding, deleting, and moving documents into and out of them); with the ability to synchronise those changes to Mendeley.
- Full two-way synchronisation of document metadata.
- PDF upload to Mendeley support.

<b>Roadmap</b>
Features are added to Scholarley as and when the developer feels motivated to do so. Tweaks to the user interface will occur throughout the development. As a general guide, however, the development of Scholarley will follow the roadmap below.
- 0.9.8.x releases will be focussed on extending the abilities to locally modify your library; with some upload capabilities.
- 0.9.9.x releases will be focussed on extending support for pushing local changes to Mendeley.
- 1.0.0 RC x releases will be focussed on bugfixing and (potentially) translations, if people are interested in having Scholarley available in their native tongue.
- 1.0.0 will mark the first official stable release of Scholarley.

<b>Subsidisation</b>
Scholarley was originally intended for my private use only. Since then, at the request of many people, various features have been added. In order to sponsor future development, it is necessary that I find monetary remuneration. Consequently, an in-app upgrade will be required to unlock all upload and social functionality. This can be purchased in advance for a reduced price of AUD$3. As these features are implemented, the price will be increased. Viewing of your library, and local modifications to it, will always remain free.

<b>Note concerning Mendeley Open API:</b>
Scholarley is limited by the API offered by Mendeley. Recently, their Open API has been significantly improved; and Scholarley has yet to take advantage of all of the new features. I commend Mendeley for the helpful correspondence I have had with them regarding new features to the API; and their readiness to assist. I look forward to the future of Mendeley.

Stay In Touch (v. 0.5)

"Stay In Touch" is a neat social utility application that I wrote to help me remember to correspond with my friends whilst busy with my PhD; and I upload it into the market in the hope that it might be of service to others as well. I was unable to find a suitable simple application for this in the market.

The basic premise is that you have some friends with whom you want to stay in touch, who you don't see in day-to-day living; and are hence liable to be forgotten. In this application, there is a list of people with whom you wish to remain in contact, each sorted by who most needs your attention. Associated with each person is the maximum number of days that you want to go without contacting them. After this number of days is complete, the contact entry will turn orange. If you have not corresponded with them in twice the number of days specified, their entry will turn red. When you do correspond with them, you just tap that entry, and the time since you have contact them is reset.

[The number shown below the person's name is the normalised amount of attention that they have been receiving; which is computed using a Gaussian decay with standard deviation equal to the number of days specified.]

Possible future features (if I have time):

- Integrate with Android contacts to simplify person adding and contacting

Credit Usage Plus Enabler (v. 0.9.1)

This application enables the full functionality of the free application "Credit Usage" (known as the "Plus" mode); which is installed separately (search for "Credit Usage in the market).

Credit Usage is a call minutes, sms, mms and data usage meter to monitor your credit usage with advanced filtering and options.

WARNING TO LEGACY USERS: This version of Credit Usage no longer contains an entire application; but only an enabler for the standard version of Credit Usage. Installing this application means your previous settings and history will be lost. You might want to consider backing up Credit Usage and its data, just in case the newer version dissatisfies you. If this is the case, please do contact me and let me know how to improve it.

Credit Usage (v. 5.0.2)

Credit Usage is a call minutes, sms, mms and data usage meter to monitor your phone usage; and stay under your cap! Rather than depending on scraping information from official sources, which are often ~48 hours behind, Credit Usage calculates your expected bill from your actual phone usage; and so acts as a check of the official bill.

Credit Usage is designed to be aesthetically pleasing and easy to use, and should "just work". There are some features which are reserved for those who have supported this project financially; see "Credit Usage". A free 5 day trial of these features can be enabled in this lite version.

Please report any errors at http://creditusage.matthewwardrop.info/?page=feedback, and not in the comments, as I cannot reply or help you there; and please do not rate this application lowly without leaving a constructive comment. That is very discouraging.

This application is a call minutes, sms, mms and data usage meter to monitor your credit usage

The application can run in two modes: "free" and "plus". A free trial of the "plus" mode is provided.

Note:
Due to my Honours degree at University, development of new features has been paused. 4.7 will be released Nov/Dec 2010.

Please install "Credit Usage" instead. This application will be removed from the App Market soon. This is because the name "Phone Usage" misled some into thinking the main purpose of this app was to analyse usage. Rather, this app was designed to predict _credit_ usage.

"Credit Usage" is almost exactly the same.
