A quick-look tuning thickness calculator for exploration geoscientists. You select a Ricker wavelet frequency, and optional thin-bed parameters, and the app computes the tuning thickness, in time and in depth.

Please note that this app depends on having an internet connection for the chart. Only the tuning parameters are reported offline.

AVO* is a simple amplitude vs offset modeling tool for geophysicists and seismic interpreters. The idea is to show the behaviour of amplitude with incidence angle at a single interface, based on the Aki–Richards equation and Shuey approximation, two widely-used approximations to the Zoeppritz equations.

Simply enter P-wave velocity and density for the two layers, and S-wave velocity if you have it. Then tap Curve to see the magnitude vs incidence angle curve, or Crossplot to see the AVO gradient vs intercept crossplot. You can also perform simple fluid substitution, call up the elastic moduli, or email your parameters to yourself or a colleague.

Note: you must be online to show the curve and crossplot graphics, because they are supplied by the Google Charts web API.

Handy tool for computing seismic fold and trace density for simple orthogonal 3D land seismic geometries. Quickly check a design with this back-of-the-envelope app. You can even convert between metric and Imperial units.

The tool is very simple: just enter the maximum offset (or estimate this with depth), give the source and receiver line spacing and station intervals, and tap Calculate. If the live patch is smaller than the maximum offset implies, you can choose to enter a patch size. This reduces the effective area, and therefore the fold and trace density.

When you're done you can email the design to yourself or a colleague.

Elastic* is a simple rock physics calculator for petroleum geophysicists and engineers. Elastic* takes some basic acoustic parameters and gives elastic moduli. Quickly check your intuition or speculate about seismic response.

The tool is very simple. Just enter a density, at least one velocity value, and hit the Calculate button. If you only provide one velocity (Vp or Vs), and don't give a Vp:Vs ratio, the tool assumes a Vp:Vs ratio of 2.0. Conversely, if you provide velocities then anything you enter in Vp:Vs is ignored.
