    劉老三長長的打了一個哈欠，揉了揉睡眼惺忪的眼睛，他是官莊鎮上碩果僅存的一名更夫，他已經在這個古鎮上生活了整整七十年，做了整整五十年的更夫。

    “咚！咚！咚！咚！咚！咚！天幹物燥，小心火燭”劉老三振作了精神，扯著喉嚨嘶喊，打完這趟，今天得工作算是完成了，等等回家後便可以好好地睡上一覺，下午再找張老四他們搓麻將，把昨天晚上輸的全都贏回來。

    官莊鎮是湘西的東大門，也算得上是一個千年古鎮，九十年代的中國正是經濟高速發展時期，小鎮上大多數青壯年都去了沿海打工，使得這個原本人丁不旺的小鎮顯得更爲蕭落。一夜宿雨，使得平日裏塵土飛揚的國道看上去格外潔淨，偶爾一輛長途汽車帶著嘈雜的轟鳴聲呼嘯而過，留下長長的尾燈照亮街邊的店鋪。

    忽然，一只原本垂著耳朵睡著了的黑狗猛的站了起來，吠了幾聲，似乎神色不安的開始原地打轉，然後撒腿向前跑去。

    “你個悖時砍腦殼的”，劉老三被斜刺裏蹦出來的黑狗嚇了一條，一腳踢在黑狗身上，黑狗負痛。悶哼了一聲，跑開了。

    忽然遠處傳來一陣清脆的鈴聲，劉老三忙側耳傾聽，神色越來越嚴重，喃喃道，“娘**的，這個聲音整整將近四五十年沒有出現了，難道，難道又有人開始做那個勾當？”

    “呸呸呸，大吉大利，大吉大利”劉老三啐道。顧不得沒有敲完梆子，裹了裹大衣，快步走回家。消失在深秋的薄霧中。

    鈴聲越來越近，伴隨著一個蒼老的聲音響起：“喜神過境，人鬼退散。”

    薄霧中漸漸現出三個身影，領頭的是一個老者，皮膚黝黑，面色有些凶惡之色，穿著青布葛衣，腰間系著一根黑色腰帶，雖然秋深露重，但是依然只是穿著一雙草鞋。中間一人帶著一鬥笠，用輕紗遮住。全身穿著白衣白褲，仿佛死人穿的壽衣，走路的樣子也十分特別，手腳僵直，跟在老者身後。最後一人卻是一個十一二歲的小孩，穿著當時大多數孩子喜歡穿的運動服，只是腰間同樣系著一根黑色腰帶，身後背著一個書包。

    奇怪的是，小孩子手中捧著一個白色的大碗，碗中似乎盛滿清水，小孩子小心翼翼的走在二人後面。似乎深怕手中清水灑落。

    老者手中拿著一疊厚厚的黃紙，上面用銅錢狀的利器刺出一串串銅錢般的細孔，這正是湘西特有的冥幣，老者手握冥幣灑向天空，喝道：“喜神過境，買路借過，凡夫俗子，切勿靠近，急急返鄉，入土爲安！”

    老者在一間小木屋前停了下來，怔怔的看著，“沒有想到，這麽多年沒見，已經破落到這等地步。”

    這間木屋已經破敗到看不出年代了，用幾根竹子胡亂的撐起，防止它倒塌，兩扇大門緊閉，屋前挂著一盞積滿了灰塵的燈籠，亮著陰慘慘的光。隱隱在門楣上刻著四個字“喜神客棧”。

    “這麽多年了，也不知道那老兄弟還在不在——甯兒，去敲門，記得我教你的方法。”

    小孩應了一聲，將手中的瓷碗小心翼翼地遞給老者。走上前去，挺直腰板清清嗓子，脆生生地道：“天不收，地不留，東來西去又還東，今日借過你家店，金磚收入你櫃中。”

    屋內無聲響，小孩望向老者，有叫了一遍，只是聲音比剛才打了幾分。連續叫了三遍，屋內依然沒有人應答，老者臉色有些黯然了，道：“果然沒有人了。我們，走吧。”

    說完老者將小陰羅一敲，待要離開，這時，屋內一個聲音慢條斯理地道：“天要收，地要留，東來西去又還東，亡人化作金磚一塊，金磚收入我櫃中。”

    老者頓時神色一喜，小孩更是高興地直拍手，連忙道：“爺爺，有人，有人。”

    這時裏屋的人又道“來的可是牙先生？”

    小孩連忙回答：“來的不是牙先生。”

    裏屋人又道：“來的可是腳先生？”

    小孩應道：“來的不是腳先生。”

    “來的可是船先生？”

    “來的不是船先生。”

    “來的可是車先生？”

    “來的正是車先生。”

    “可飲陰間忘魂湯？”

    “只飲陽間一壺茶。”

    裏屋的人沈默了半晌，道：“沒想到現在還有車先生光臨，稍帶片刻。我便迎喜神進櫃。”

    裏屋一陣窸窸窣窣的聲音，顯然那人在收拾，不一會，一名頭發花白的老者將兩扇大木門打開，老者從懷中掏出一張黃紙做成的符咒，摘掉白衣人頭上的鬥篷，露出一張慘白慘白的臉，臉色沒有絲毫血色，雙目緊閉，嘴唇卻鮮紅如血，整個身上籠罩的一種KB的感覺，這果真是一具屍體。

    老者從手中掏出一張黃紙，貼在屍體的額頭上，右手呈劍指在他臉上邊比劃邊喝道：“奉請喜神進櫃”。

    果然，屍體居然動了！

    屍體雙手直直地伸向前方，雙目緊閉，就像常人夢遊一般。但是動作卻比人要僵直狠多，緩緩的向前走，身體的骨骼磨擦發出一種奇特的聲音，仿佛尖刀劃過瓷盤一般刺耳，直挺挺的跳過門檻。徑直在門後站立。

    此時幸好周圍除了三人之外並沒有其他的人，不然，見此情形，非得當場嚇暈了不可。

    原來此二人居然是在湘西已經消聲滅迹狠久的趕屍匠，而那白衣人自然就是“喜神”。而此處自然是狠多年狠多年沒有喜神光顧的“趕屍客棧”

    此時天剛剛破曉。

    趕屍客棧和官莊大多數的農家並沒有什麽區別，只是此處的農家大多喜歡用門板關門，及由十幾塊木板一次在插入門楣中，在用木棍拴住，狠少由農家做兩扇這麽大的木門，屋中間擺著一張舊桌子，原本漆著黑漆，但是已經剝落得差不多了，上面由于油光發亮，四張長凳子也磨光了圓角，不知道用了多少年了。整個屋子黑漆漆的，透著一股說不出來的陰森感覺。

    開門的老板禿了頭發，也不知道是不是經常關在屋子裏的緣故，臉色透著一種不健康的青色，嘴唇略微有些發紫，他看著喜神進屋，臉色先是閃過一絲驚訝的神色，竟而鎮靜下來。深深看了爺孫二人一眼，頭也不回走了進去。

    小甯捧了一通宵的大碗，手臂早就疼的要死，連忙走向前去，剛要坐下，便被爺爺叫住了：“小甯，爺爺怎麽教你的？”

    小甯嘟了嘟嘴，從書包中拿住一盞樣式古樸的油燈，來到客棧的東南角，這裏從屋梁上吊著一個小竹籃般的東西，小甯將手中的油燈放在小竹籃中，老者從懷中掏出一張黃紙。雙手一撮，居然在手中燃了起來，小甯看的目瞪口呆，老者口中念念有詞：“天命付我，我命負汝，汝若負吾，天命不許，點盞陰燈，照汝前程，汝不負吾，請勿吹燈。”

    說完，將手中的黃紙將燈點燃，古燈亮出藍幽蘭的光芒，火苗任憑風吹，也絲毫不動。

    “小甯，看好了，千萬不能讓燈熄滅了，要是熄滅了，可就壞了大事了。”

    小甯嘟著小嘴道：“我都累了一晚了，早知道行腳這麽累，我才不出來呢。”

    老者慈祥的摸了摸小甯的頭，笑道：“當時吵著要出來的是你，現在說不幹了的也是你，乖，在過一晚，把喜神送到了，我們就回去，我答應你，回去後，把剛才那手不用火點燃油燈的方法教給你。”

    小甯一蹦三尺高，拍手笑道：“嗲嗲說話算數。”

The Saga of the Volsungs. The Volsunga saga is a legendary saga, a late 13th century Icelandic prose rendition of the origin and decline of the Volsung clan (including the story of Sigurd and Brynhild and destruction of the Burgundians). It is largely based on epic poetry. The earliest known representation of this tradition is in pictoral form as the Ramsund carving, Sweden, which was created c. 1000 AD. The origins of the material are considerably older, however, and it echoes real events in Central Europe during the fifth and sixth centuries. On the other hand, the only manuscript of the saga, dates to about 1400. In this manuscript, the saga leads straight in to Ragnars saga. The Middle High German epic poem Nibelungenlied is based largely on the old stories, which were commonly known in all of the Germanic lands from the early Middle Ages on, but reworks the material into a courtly medieval setting. A story based on the Volsunga Saga was written by Melvin Burgess, called Bloodtide. Many of the features in the original saga make an appearance, with a few differences in characters, settings and story. In fact, there are many fantasy books that have drawn from this material and many that have retold the original story in a romantic adaptation. One of the most notable adaptations is Richard Wagner's operatic suite, the Ring Cycle.

POSITIVE LEADERSHIP AND THE RIGHT ATTITUDE.
Leadership must be by example. At first, harsh and unfamiliar conditions tend to be frightening. Marines will find themselves up against many challenges they have never met before and the environment will constantly remind them that they can become a casualty if they make mistakes. Aggressive leadership, which consistently meets and overcomes the challenges of the environment, is essential to mission accomplishment. There will be two enemies to contend with: the enemy soldier and the environment itself. The first step towards defeating these enemies is getting your Marines in the right mental attitude. The leader must maintain a positive attitude towards the mission, his Marines, and the equipment they have to carry out the job. You can be defeated psychologically, if you are not aware of the symptoms of a poorly motivated unit.

a. Core Values applied in a survival situation. Core value are very applicable to leadership in a surviv al situation. In the absence of constant adherence to our core values, subordinate Marines may suffer the consequences of injury and in extreme cases, DEATH.

b. Honor. Honor is integrity, responsibility, and accountability. Without honor in this type of environment, decisions are made with inaccurate and/or misleading information. Dishonorable actions or intentions ultimately lead to unethical behavior...trust between Marines will erode, dependability will become unimportant, and the resulting consequences to energy conservation will greatly affect a unit’s cohesion and ability to accomplish its mission.

c. Courage. Courage is doing the right thing for the right reason. Courage in this type of environment for small unit leaders to take charge of their unit. The added stress and pressure induced in mountainous terrain makes the tough decisions even tougher to make: courageous leaders take that extra step. Trust and confidence in leadership is built upon thorough training to ensure their men are capable of overcoming the fear and uncertainty of enemy and the harsh environment.
