박용철(朴龍喆, 1904년 6월 21일 ~ 1938년 5월 12일
한국의 시인이다. 문학평론가, 번역가로도 활동했다. 아호는 용아(龍兒).

전라남도 광산군(현 광주광역시)에서 출생했다. 배재고등보통학교를 거쳐 일본 도쿄 아오야마 학원과 연희전문에서 수학하였다.

일본 유학 중 시인 김영랑과 교류하며 1930년 《시문학》을 함께 창간해 문학에 입문하였다. 1931년 《월간문학》, 1934년 《문학》을 창간하여 순수문학 계열에서 활동했다. "나 두 야 간다/나의 이 젊은 나이를/눈물로야 보낼거냐/나 두 야 가련다"로 시작되는 대표작 〈떠나가는 배〉 등 시작품은 초기에 많이 발표했고, 이후로는 주로 극예술연구회의 회원으로 활동하면서 해외 시와 희곡을 번역하고 평론을 발표하는 방향으로 관심을 돌렸다.

1938년 결핵으로 요절하여 자신의 작품집은 생전에 내보지 못했다. 박용철이 사망하고 1년 뒤에 《박용철전집》이 시문학사에서 간행되었다. 전집의 전체 내용 중 번역이 차지하는 부분이 절반이 넘어, 박용철의 번역 문학에 대한 관심을 알 수 있다. 괴테, 하이네, 릴케 등 독일 시인의 시를 많이 번역했다. 번역 희곡으로는 셰익스피어의 《베니스의 상인》, 입센의 《인형의 집》 등이 있다. 극예술연구회 회원으로 활동하며 번역한 작품들이다.

박용철은 1930년대 문단에서 임화와 조선프롤레타리아예술가동맹으로 대표되는 경향파 리얼리즘 문학, 김기림으로 대표되는 모더니즘 문학과 대립하여 순수문학이라는 하나의 흐름을 이끌었다. 김영랑, 정지용, 신석정, 이하윤 등이 박용철과 함께 순수시를 옹호하는 시문학파 시인들이다. 박용철의 시는 대체로 김영랑이나 정지용의 시에 비하면 시어가 맑지도 밝지도 못한 결함이 있지만, 그의 서정시의 밑바닥에는 사상성이나 민족의식 같은 것이 깔려 있어, 그 점이 김영랑, 정지용의 시에서 좀처럼 찾아볼 수 없는 특색이라는 평가가 있다. 그의 시는 릴케와 키에르케고르의 영향을 받아 회의·모색·상징 등이 그 주조를 이루었다.

광주에 생가가 보존되어 있고 광주공원에는 〈떠나가는 배〉가 새겨진 시비도 건립되어 있다.

이상화(李相和, 1901년 5월 9일~1943년 4월 25일)
한국의 시인이다. 호는 상화(尙火), 무량(無量), 상화(想華), 백아(白啞)이다.


생애
1901년 대구에서 태어났다. 아버지는 이시우이며, 어머니는 김해 김씨이다. 4형제 중 둘째 아들이다. 큰형 상정은 독립 운동가이다.
다섯 살에 아버지를 잃었다. 1918년에 서울 중앙학교(지금의 중앙고등학교)를 수료했고, 열아홉 되던 1919년 대구에서 3·1 운동 거사를 모의하다 주요 인물이 잡혀가자 서울 박태원의 하숙으로 피신하였다. 1921년에 현진건의 소개로 박종화와 만나 〈백조〉 동인에 참여했고, 1922년 《백조》1~2호에 시를 발표하면서 문단에 나왔다. 그해 프랑스에 유학할 기회를 얻으려고 일본으로 갔다. 1923년 관동 대지진이 나자 수난을 피해 귀국했다. 1925년에 작품 활동을 활발히 했다. 시뿐만 아니라 평론, 소설 번역에도 힘썼다. 8월에 카프 발기인으로 참여했다. 1927년 대구로 돌아왔다. 1933년 교남학교(지금의 대륜고등학교) 교사로 근무했다. 담당 과목은 조선어와 영어, 작문이었다. 이듬해 사직했다. 1937년 큰형 이상정을 만나러 중국에 3개월간 다녀왔다. 교남학교에 복직하여 교가를 작사했다. 1943년 3월에 위암 진단을 받고 투병하다가 4월 25일 대구 자택에서 숨졌다.
1948년 3월 14일 김소운이 발의하고 이윤수, 구상 등이 참여하고 죽순시인구락부가 협찬하여 시인을 기리는, 대한민국 최초의 시비를 달성공원에 세웠다.


작품 활동
1922년 《백조》 1호에 〈말세의 희탄〉, 〈단조〉 두 편의 시를 발표하면서 등단했다. 이후 《백조》 나머지 호, 《개벽》, 《문예운동》, 《여명》, 《신여성》, 《조선문단》, 《조선지광》, 《별건곤》등 잡지에 〈나의 침실로〉, 〈빼앗긴 들에도 봄은 오는가〉, 〈대구 행진곡〉, 〈서러운 해조〉등 60여 편의 작품을 발표하였다.

생전에 출간된 시집은 없으며, 사후 1951년 백기만이 청구출판사에서 펴낸 《상화와 고월》에 시 16편이 실렸고, 이기철 편 《이상화 전집》(문장사, 1982)과 김학동 편 《이상화 전집》(새문사, 1987), 대구문인협회 편 《이상화 전집》(그루, 1998) 등 세 권의 전집에 유작이 모두 실렸다.

이장희(李章熙, 1900년 ~ 1929년)
한국의 시인이다. 호는 고월(古月)이다.
1924년 《금성》 5월호에 〈실바람 지나간 뒤〉, 〈새한마리〉, 〈불놀이〉, 〈무대〉, 〈봄은 고양이로다〉 등 5편의 시 작품과 톨스토이 원작의 번역소설 〈장구한 귀양〉을 발표하면서 등단했다.
이후 《신민》,《생장》,《여명》,《신여성》,《조선문단》등 잡지에 〈동경〉, 〈석양구〉, 〈청천의 유방〉, 〈하일소경〉,〈봄철의 바다〉등 30여 편의 작품을 발표하였다.
요절하였기에 생전에 출간된 시집은 없으며, 사후 1951년 백기만이 청구출판사에서 펴낸 《상화와 고월》에 시 11편만 실려 전해지다가 제해만 편 《이장희전집》(문장사, 1982)과 김재홍 편 《이장희전집평전》(문학세계사, 1983)등 두 권의 전집에 유작이 모두 실렸다.
