A speedometer, displaying speed, GPS-time, coordinates, altitude, bearing with a compass, and address if data connection available.

Selectable speed out format: m/s, km/h, mph, kt
Selectable distance and altitude format: km, Nm, m, ft, yd

The background color changes at common speed limits:
50 km/h, 70 km/h, 80 km/h, 100 km/h, 120 km/h.
New: Speed Table editable in sdcard/.com.strickling/GPSTacho.txt

Trip statistics with maximal speed, duration, odometer, average total speed, average speed when moving, moving time, ascend and descend sum.

New: Get averaged coordinates to reduce GPS error and get high precision coordinates, eg for placing geocaches.

You can save location as GPX file on your sd-card.

Small astronomy app for calculation the apparent position of geostationary satellites. It assumes a circular orbit with aninclination of 0°. For visual observers and photographers.
Calculates azimuth, elevation, hour angle, declination and right ascension.

On first start, the app will download a list of satellites from www.strickling.net when clicking on menu item 'Select Satellite'.

Astronomy app. Calculate the precise local circumstances for a solar eclipse wit your phone!
The app takes your actual GPS, network position or a custom defined position. It predicts precise contact times for your location, i. e. beginning and end of the eclipse (C1 and C4), beginning and end of the total or annual phase (C2 and C3), time of mid eclipse and the current percentage of coverage of the solar disk. It will also show the actual eclipse view in a small graphic on the screen.

On a second screen you get full information about the local circumstances: Times, altitude, elevation, position angle and clock position of the contact events,
times of sunrise, culmination and set,
duration, magnitude, umbral depth and saros number of the eclipse.
Insert eclipses as calendar events from EclipseDroid (Menu of the local circumstances form).


The app provides powerful support for advanced eclipse observers: It displays contact times and custom defined events in absolute format and as a countdown, it can make acoustic announcements and can take snapshots at user defined times, using the phone's camera (including automatic geotagging) or cable releases via an integrated flashlight.
The app can alos launch applications at user defined times, dependent on the actual contact times.

It provides an eclipse simulation for training your observation program.
GPS and network localization is supported to update changed location. A custom position can be defined and this position will be stored. Search any location by a Google search (as an example Berlin, Germany will be proposed).

Limitations in free version: Eclipses from now to 2012, no magnitude time table in local circumstances window and no clickable link to the NASA-Eclipse maps.

Astronomy ephemeris App for calculating high precision ephemeris and positions of Sun, Moon and the Planets for engaged amateur astronomers and planetary observers, prefering data and facts instead of pretty picture-apps. Planetdroid finds rise, culmination and set times, the beginning of seasons, lunar phases and planetary aspects.

New: Augmented reality (AR) view beta version: See the planet's positions live on a camera image and search your selected object with your phone (Version 4.0)!

Since version 3.0 Planetdroid comes with a visibility diagram. You see the elevation above the horizon of your selected body (white line) of the current nicht and the elevation of the sun (dark yellow line), as well as the twilight times. The horizontal black line ist the horizon, the vertical red line your selected time.

Since version 3.3 it is possible to save locations offline. The file containing the locations is sdcard/.com.strickling/location.txt. It can be edited with any test editor. To start the editor, simply click menu in the location selection form.

Download elements for asteroids and comets from the internet.
Supports GPS localization.

On some devices without front camera Google Play Store will indicate, that Planetdroid is not compatible with your device. The front camera is needed for the augmented reality screen. This small app uses the phone's built-in flash LED to release external electronic devices.
Now with option to take shots with the internal camera with CameraTimer, including automatic geotagging.

Releasing external cameras requires phones, which provide a torch mode for their camera flash and a camera connection cable with a phototransistor to release the external camera. Check my website for details.
