Mathematical functions have their ups and downs, and you'll learn to identify and characterize them in no time with this little app. It supports two challenges: 1) given a mystery graph, can you express the plotted function based on as few (x,y) coordinates as possible and 2) given a mathematical expression for a function, like f(x) = cos(x) ^ 2, can you match it to one of three displayed graphs?

The functions are generated according to criteria of your choosing. You can choose to omit trigonometric and log functions entirely, make exponential functions appear infrequently, or place bounds on coefficients. From these criteria, functions are randomly produced, offering endless variety and a challenge that grows at your pace.

This app is a tool to aid you in completing the cryptograms you might find in your daily newspaper. You supply the puzzle, and substitute letters in by tapping on the screen. This free version contains no cryptograms of its own -- you enter them. The software itself is just an alternative to pen-and-paper solving.

The size and padding of the letters is customizable, so if you find that your tapping aim is off, you can increase the target area.

If you can think of ways to improve this app without taking away the fun and challenge of deciphering cryptograms, I'd love to hear about them via email.

A live wallpaper which lets you sketch topographical maps of terrain drawn with your finger. When you press on the wallpaper, the elevations of the neighboring pixels are raised or lowered, and contour lines are drawn showing the relief.

After installing, long-press on the home screen to choose your wallpaper. Select Topo Paper from the Live Wallpapers list.

Double-tap quickly to switch between raising and lowering.

Bitmeter is a utility for inspecting a bitfield and investigating how different data types are represented. Possible uses include contrasting and comparing the encodings of the different types used in languages like C and Java, converting values of one type to another, and debugging.

The bitfield can be 1, 2, 4, or 8 bytes long. (For the larger bitfields, a hardware keyboard is useful, but not essential.) Depending on the number of bytes, the field is simultaneously shown as a signed integer, an unsigned integer, an ASCII character, a Unicode character, a float, and a double. It's also shown in binary, decimal, and hexadecimal. The bitfield can be changed by toggling the bit buttons or typing in any of the type boxes. Additional buttons make it easy to turn all bits on or off, negate, and add or subtract 1.

New in version 1.0.1 is 2-, 4-, and 8-byte functionality.

There's nothing like a free minute. This application lets you consume that minute in popping bubble wrap. Yes, there are some other apps that do this, but they all suffer from one or more of the following: a) being a timed or scored game, b) not handling drags, c) not having sound, or d) costing money.
