What is Truth or Truth? / Rules I think it was the late great Courtney Love that said this about integrity: “Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the magic keys to living your life with integrity.” It might not have been her, but we will have our researcher’s look into it. Regardless, integrity is what Truth or Truth is built around. The second ingredient to the Truth or Truth sandwich is creativity. Put these two things together, then mix them up with friends, long car rides, awkward silence, something to break the ice, and pure epicawesomegreatness. You have to be willing to commit to the game of Truth or Truth. If you are someone who flakes out of commitment, walks out on responsibility, or if you’re the kind of person who bought tickets to the Broadway show Spiderman, this may not be the game for you. Please, if you do three things today, read the rules of Truth or Truth, invite a friend to read the rules, and then start playing.
Rules: The Truth or Truth game can only be initiated by someone who knows the rules to Truth or Truth. This person must promise to uphold the integrity of the game at all cost. The game starts when at any given moment, a person who knows the rules of ToT initiates game-play by asking the question: Truth or Truth? Once the words "Truth or Truth" have been spoken to someone, the only response allowed is to answer the question with either "Truth" or "Truth." Example: Carl: Hey Tina, it’s been a long day. I really appreciate you picking me up from work since my car is in the shop. Tina: Anytime Carl, I’ve had a rough day too. You know Carl, I've had one thing on my mind the entire way over here to get you... Carl: Oh, what’s that? Tina: Carl, Truth or Truth? Carl: Wow, Tina, this may be awkward for you to hear, but I was just thinking about our friendship, and while thinking about our friendship, one thing came to mind: TRUTH. Game ON. The person who starts the game will ask the person a Truth or Truth question. Questions involve putting that person into two scenarios and making them choose one. To learn other examples of questions, listen to the podcast. No matter what the question is, no matter how personal or horrible, no matter what the question involves, you must answer. If they make you choose kissing your Dad or kissing your Mom for 3 hours, you must choose. If you do not choose, or refuse to, you will be banned from Truth or Truth for a certain amount of time. The time is determined by a vote by the co-founders and Junior Board members. There are no restrictions on scenarios. When asking the questions, it is encouraged that you delve into the consequences of each scenario, and explore any after-effects from each decision. Once you have been asked a question, you must ask someone else a question. Also your question has to be a new question. You are not allowed to say, "Same thing you asked me." There is no creativity or integrity in that. Once everyone has asked a question, you can continue to play until it has been determined as a group that you would like to quit. If you start to play with someone, you must explain the rules to them; they must accept them and agree to them in order for you to play with them. Anytime you are playing with someone or a group, you have to make sure all the rules are followed and upheld. Most important: HAVE FUN! Post your questions on the website; we will use some of your posted questions on the podcast.
