Want to find the location of your phone through GPS or cell phone tower triangulation? This application will report the location and MORE.
Directions:
1) Set up two special keywords that you can use to text your phone in the future.
- When you text your phone the first keyword, the application will automatically send an email to a secret email address of your choosing with your phone's GPS Coordinates and a MAP of your phone's location.
- When you text your phone the second keyword, the app will send a text message back with the coordinates and map too.
- Both tasks are done discreetly in the background. This is particularly useful in a situation where your phone is lost and in the wrong hands. Whoever is in possession of the phone will not know that their location is being reported. Just make sure the two keywords are not obvious!
2) Set up an email server that will handle creating the email message with the GPS coordinates and map and sending it to another email address of your choosing. Basically, you need to give the program a valid email address that will send emails. Also, the program requires SMTP server information of your email such as server name, server port, and SSL security. Just look it up on Google. For example, if you look up "Gmail SMTP server settings", you will get many results. Gmail's SMTP server name is smtp.googlemail.com and its SMTP port is 465. Gmail also uses SSL security. The server name and port must be entered. SSL security should be checked if the server uses it.
3) Once your email SMTP server is set up, choose an email address that the application will send an email to with your location. It can be any valid email address. When your phone receives the secret keyword via a text message, it will automatically send the email without the user of the phone knowing. Same thing with the text messaging. When the application receives a text with the special keyword for TEXTING, it will send a reply without the user knowing.
4) You can also simply press the "Send Email" or "Send SMS" buttons to send your location using the particular method. When sending an SMS like this, make sure to enter a phone number first.
5) You can clear your settings at any time and also close the application as well as GPS tracking with buttons that correspond to each.
Additional Information:
***If your phone somehow loses its Internet signal (ex. Wifi or 3g) and the phone receives a text with the special EMAIL keyword, it will still create an email but will send it as soon as the phone has Internet!!***
- GPS is recommended but not required.
