Exoplanet Guide is probably the most complete exoplanet data reference for Android phones.

It is based on Jean Schneider's Exoplanet Encyclopedia supplemented by the database of the Penn State University.

Planets for which sufficient data is not currently available are filtered out, but may show up with future database updates. The database can be updated online.

Since Ver 1.26 the Exoplanet Guide adds the PHL HEC catalog, which is currently Beta, but already a valuable source.

One of the key features is the graphical representation of the habitable zone of a parent star. Exoplanet Guide comes with a fully featured star chart plotting stars down to magnitude 6.4 plus all Messier objects!

Export all exoplanets with illustrations to KMZ format for use with Google Sky (part of Google Earth for the desktop) and explore with the convenience of a larger screen.

The Kepler Field of View overlay changes automatically with Kepler's seasonal rotation (subtle changes, though).

Planet Counter (v. 1.05)

Planet Counter (top left corner on screen snap #2) is a 2x2 home screen widget that monitors the count of current confirmed exosolar planets as published by NASA/JPL's Planetquest website. The total count on other sites may be higher as it includes unconfirmed planets as well.

The widget includes a NASA/JPL planet illustration which can be enlarged by tapping on it. Tap again to reduce (see screen snap #3).

Considering that new planets are not confirmed every day, the widget updates itself every 24 hours in that it won't drain your battery.

After installation, a splash comes up with instructions and an About button. Please appreciate that widgets cannot be moved to external memory card.

Some comments complain about low update frequency. Please appreciate that astronomers do not confirm planets every day! It may take weeks, occasionally months, until a next update, unless planet hunters are blessed with unusual luck.

Helvetia (v. 1.01)

The Swiss railway station clock is a symbol for Swiss high precision and reliable punctuality.

This application adopts the Swiss railway station clock drawn using Photoshop. The algorithm for the motion of the red second hand is courtesy of Klaus Christl, Switzerland. Klaus also contributed most of the beautiful wallpaper photos of Swiss landscapes.

Version 1.01 adds a widget on multiple request, HOWEVER, widgets do not support smooth animations. The widget can be switched between animated and conventional ticking second hand. For most devices, the animation may not work satisfactorily. At this time, the widget is not included in the app price as still experimental. It is a free addition.

Scope Companion (v. 1.04)

Scope Companion is software for computing performance parameters of optical equipment for astronomy,
primarily designed for telescope novices and first-time buyers of optical systems.

Upon input of basic specifications, such as aperture and focal length, Scope Companion calculates the ideal performance of the optics and plots a performance graph. Performance data can also be calculated for binoculars.

The imaging section calculates the field of view with a given CCD camera and lens/scope configuration. The data can be visually confirmed by means of a simulation against the surface of the moon.

Additional helper functions include a star transit counter for measuring the field of view of an eyepiece, a dew point estimator, a compass, polar finder circle and an image orientation simulator.

The author welcomes friendly feedbacks in particular regarding screen layout.

Solunar Time is software for Android phones which computes astronomical times as well as physical and ephemeris data for the sun and the moon in realtime or for a selected date at midnight. Rise, set and transit times are believed to be ±1 minute accurate for moderate latitudes.

Martian Time is a time keeper for time on the planet Mars designed for those who wish to monitor time at specific landmarks, such as Olympus Mons or Mars rover sites, including MSL CURIOSITY.

Martian time does not only compute the major martian time definitions but also provides Solar and Terran longitudes, latitudes, hour angles, azimuths and altitudes, etc, for selected landmarks as if observed on Mars.

In addition, a full set of Mars ephemerides with reference to Earth is computed for real-time. Select one from 12 available surface map textures for the rotatable Mars globe and popular landmarks from a list of approximately 50 locations, including rover sites.

Galilean (v. 1.05)

Galilean is software to help plan and assist observations of the major four jovian satellites, also called the Galilean Moons. Jupiter will be back to the night sky and grow larger in diameter from mid September 2011. Get ready for observations.

Meteorites and artificial satellites excepted, nothing moves faster in the eyepiece than Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. For this reason, these brightest moons of Jupiter are most popular and easy targets for binoculars and telescopes alike.

Galilean plots current and time-shifted positions of the moons, both as on-north orbit view and edge-on, while the latter can be tilted to Jupiter's rotation axis (geocentric) or parallactic angle (topocentric), if Jupiter is above horizon. Transiting moons and their shadows are plotted on an enlarged view of the planet. For curiosity, triple shadow events can be simulated from a list of occurrences between the years 1901 and 2092.

Galilean also computes detailed physical and positional ephemerides for Jupiter and the moons, as well as countdown for the transit of the GRS. Furthermore, a chart is provided showing Jupiter's elongation from the Sun.
