Mouse Surfer Demo (v. 1.0.3)

The mouse surfer turns your android phone into a computer mouse.  It works with Windows.  Its main features are:

Physic based movement:  do you which the smooth way in which the screen moves in your phone was ported to your computer.  This mouse moves with physics.  This feature is not only pleasing to your sences, but it also allows you to move large spaces in the screen.  With today's big, high resolution screens, this is a feature you'll love.  Yet, the mouse will move accurately when the finger is moved with more precition.

Self configuration:  do you wan't to try a mouse but are put off by the computer jargon.  IP this and IP that ?  Mouse surfer will self-configure.  You just install the driver-- like a regular mouse-- and let the computers do the talking.  (for best results sign your phone to the network used by the PC or laptop)

Text input:  the mouse includes text input.  The feature is design so you can still use helpfull android tools like Swipe and voice commands.

Uses for Mouse Surfer:

Use it to give presentations:  The mouse is designed to be held with one hand.Use it to mouse the pointer during presentations.  Its smooth movement can add to your presentation just like transitions do.

Browse and watch Netflix:  have you connected your laptop to the tv to watch Netflix or a DVD, but now you have to get up to browse the selection or press the play button ?  With Mouse Surfer, you can use the computer at a distance, so you can leave the laptop connected to the TV and still have convenient access.

Every day use:  Mouse Surfer will not substitute you desktop mouse, but if you find yourself using a laptop mouse very often, you can definetly do better with mouse surfer.  Mouse Surfer provides a larger area to move your finger.  And since it is in your phone, you'll definetely carry it around with you.

At Practical Android Apps, we are aware of how important having security and privacy on any application is for our customers:

Security:  all text input is encrypted with 128bit (AES) encryption so you can write anything you would on a regular keyboard.

Privacy:  The access privileges used by the phone are needed for the self-configuration process.  OAuth standard is used to access your Google account to ensure the highest security currently available for cloud data access.  The standard allows us to use cloud services without having to handle your account password.

Word Journal uses the Google Define tool to find words' definitions.  In addition, it keeps a journal of the words  so you can review the list over time.  You'll see how your vocabulary expands as more words are added.

Google suggest tool is used to auto-complete queries.

This is an add-free version of Dictionary logger.

Referee Red/Yellow Card (v. 1.5.1)

Same as the free Football Soccer Referee, but commercial free.

Take it to the stadium, and use it to heckle the referee when you disagree with his decision.

Also useful for friendly football (soccer) matches, and to play around.

Update:  improved UI to look nice in both old gen and next gen Android phones.

Radio Alphabet for Cupcake (v. 1.0)

Spell words using NATO alphabet (alpha, beta, charlie. etc.)

This version of Radio Alphabet has the text-to-speech feature disabled so that Cupcake (Android 1.5) users can run it.
Basically, if RadioAlphabet crashes or you are not able to see it on the market, you should use this version.

Docs to Speech (v. 9.0.1)

Listen to your your office documents, books, articles and research papers while you drive, run, or walk the dog.  Use it to proof-read your papers.

Supported formats:
Text files (txt)
Portable Document Format (pdf)
Electronic books (ePub) (DRM eBooks not supported)
Web pages
Images with text (jpeg,png)

OCR:  reads scanned documents and pictures with text on PDF documents.  Also take a picture of a document and extract the text from the picture.

Website-to-Speech:  Docs-to-Speech can read website pages.  In three simple steps:  press and hold the URL on the browser, select share option, select Docs-to-Speech.  In a few seconds the app starts to read the article.

Download and save your PDF files and plain text file Attachments from the gmail app and other apps.  The downloaded file is placed in the Download folder.

Highlighted text-to-speech tool:  on Gingerbread and up (2.3), highlight text, press share and select Pdf-to-speech to listen to the phone/tablet read the text.

Replace Text tool:  Replace words or phrases to avoid repetitive, unnecessary phrases.  Use it to replace foreign words with more phonetic alternatives.  Use it to omit symbols.  It can also be used to replace names or words with funny substitutes.

Support for SVOX, IVONA text-to-Speech and other High Fidelity text-to-speech synthesizers.

Support for OI Manager as well as other file managers.


PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED:
At Practical Android Apps, we value your privacy.  Here is the explanation of the permissions Docs-to-Speech uses:

System tools:  This allows the app to continue reading even if the phone falls asleep (similar to your media player).

Phone Calls:  This allows the reader to stop reading if the handset is up, and to continue reading when the handset is down.  The app only knows if the handset "is up," "is down" or "is ringing"

Storage:  To access documents located in the phone.

Your Account: enables the cloud feature which includes OCR for pictures with text or Pdf's that also have pictures with text.  Google Docs word documents access is requested.

Network communication:  Used for the Web-to-speech feature.  The app uses pdfmyurl (www.pdfmyurl.com).  Also used for the web search feature.

Note:
Android 1.6 Donut no longer supported.  Use pdf-to-speech legacy for Donut.

Dictionary Logger (v. 1.0.2)

As we approach our 5,000 download, we would like to know feature requests from our users.  Should we go more toward toy/play app, or more towards a professional referee app with tools to record player number and a chronometer ?  Let us know in the comment section.

Radio Alphabet Speller (v. 1.2.1)
