LearnMaster is a learning game for kindergarten and elementary school children. The kids can learn letters, numbers, simple calculations, quantities and whole words.
Since LearnMaster uses text-to-speech (TTS) it can be used by young children who can not read. Currently, German, British English, American English, French, Italian and Spanish is supported. If these languages are available for you depends on the installed language packs of your TTS system.
Currently there are several memory games to learn letters, numbers, sets and more. In addition, multiple sets of pictures are available to learn animal names, simple words and more.
Note: Please do not give bad reviews because you do not like the TTS voice. I am just using the installed TTS service. If you spend some money on the Android Market, you can get some high quality languages like Ivona. Don't blame me if you use the default language pack (which does not work on some phones).
For the near future, the following is planned:
- Many, many new pictures and words
- Smaller install package with downloadable content
- New game concepts
- Playing with competitive nature
- Reward system
- Multiplayer mode
- Ad-free premium version
On http://mymielke.de your can find the current iPad2 test version as Web App (tested only on iPad2 and iPhone 4).
Known issues:
- Some phones have general problems with text-to-speech, e.g. the Samsung Galaxy S/S2. The standard TTS system Pico does not seem to work correctly. Sometimes the TTS system uses the wrong voice for a language or only the default voice of the device is available. It might be necessary to install an alternative TTS package like Ivona. The quality of these commercial TTS packages is much better.
- The voice output does not work on devices using the MS7227 chipset with 600Mhz, eg the LG GT540.
- Disable the animations in the configuration menu if you have a slower device
- If you encounter problems with the downloaded games, just delete the 'LernChef' folder on the SD card.
