Simulate the flow around a cylinder and see the fascinating vortex structures evolve. This is real computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and you can play with it on YOUR phone!!!
Instructions:
The app simulates fluid flow in the direction of gravitational acceleration. Change the direction of the flow by tilting the phone.
Model details:
Maelstrom is a realtime fluid flow simulator. It solve the vorticity formulation of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations via a vortex particle method.
Time integration: Forward Euler.
Spatial approximations: Second order finite difference.
Iterative solver: Geometric multigrid.
