(обновлено 2012-05-17)

Logic Keyboard is a layout extension for AnySoftKeyboard (available separately on the Android Market). You need to install AnySoftKeyboard first, then you can install this app to add two new keyboards to it. In AnySoftKeyboard you can then swipe the keyboard to get to them, exactly as you would for any of the other keyboard extensions it supports.

The two new keyboards provided by this app are used for typing logic symbols on your Android device. They're useful to anyone interested in many areas of mathematics including sets and logic systems, including for student use.

Logic Keyboard is a free app intended to be an aid to using Android devices for mathematical purposes. No warranty is provided even of merchantability.

ProCon (v. 1.0)

GeoComputing Apps опубликовал приложение 2011-10-21
(обновлено 2011-10-21)

ProCon is an Android remote control application that lets you control programs written using the Processing computer programming language. If you don't use Processing then this app will be of no use to you. It requires an Android device with OS v1.6+ and built-in wifi.

To control Processing, ProCon has a large panel to use as a mouse-like touch panel, a slider and four buttons. The position of your finger on the touch panel is sent to Processing, together with messages telling your program when the slider position changes or a button is pressed. If you have a g-sensor (accelerometer) in your Android device then it's values will be streamed to Processing, together with the orientation of any compass you also have in your device. That all allows you to do some quite sophisticated remote controlling of your Processing programs. You can also send a toast message to ProCon from Processing (try pressing the 'h' key on your PC while trying out the demo code).

To use ProCon simply do the following:

1. Connect your Android and PC to the same wifi network. Also, make sure you have the demo Processing code (see below).

2. Run ProCon on your Android and change the IP address in your Processing code to be the same as will be shown on the ProCon title bar (if it says 127.0.0.1 then try running ProCon again).

3. Run the Processing code and soon the title bar in ProCon should tell you that you're connected, in which case try some remote controlling.

4. If you get an error in Processing (e.g. 'No route to host') it's most likely that you have a network problem. Mostly this shouldn't happen, but if it does then closing the programs, disconnecting from the wifi, and trying again usually works.

Depending on how popular ProCon is future revisions could include additional button layouts, user defined layouts/graphics, and keyboard code sending.

If you like ProCon, why not take a look at the app store page at www.geocomputing.co.uk. Processing code to use with ProCon can be found at http://www.geocomputing.co.uk/getpage.php?type=page&page=androidprocon which you can adapt to your own needs.

SensoMin (v. 1.0)

GeoComputing Apps опубликовал приложение 2011-10-13
(обновлено 2011-10-13)

SensoMin is a fun free Android app that lets you play theromin type sounds using the g-sensor (accelerometer) built into your phone. Basically you hold your phone flat in the palm of your hand and SensorMin will play a note at a pitch of one kilohertz. Then roll or shake your phone from side to side to change the note pitch, or along its length to change the volume.

You can also change the type of waveform used for the sound, the options being a sine wave (default), a square wave, or a sawtooth wave, all of which give different sounds. To make things more exciting there's also a second sound, the frequency of which can be adjusted using a slider to create harmonics. The slider sets the relationship between the main sound and the harmonic, so if it's set to -50% the harmonic will be half the frequency of the main sound.

Similarly 50% makes the harmonic twice the main frequency and 0% makes both sounds the same frequency. Of course you don't have to use this slider to create harmonic sounds, as you might like to make discordant ones instead, or just use it to create dynamic sound effects. You can also change the harmonic sound waveform (sine, square, sawtooth) separately from the main sounds. That increases the sound effects you can achieve, and even makes the app useful for anyone wanting to learn about sound/signal mixing.

This app also lets you change the g-sensor sampling speed, which allows some fun sound effects to be created. You can also change the maximum volume for the main and harmonic sounds. That's as a percentage of your Android's master volume, so if the app sounds quiet even at 100% volume you can try turning up the volume control on your device. If you have headphones, that may be a better way to experience your sensor theramin (at a sensible, non-deafening, volume of course).

The source code of SensorMin is available for download at www.basic4android.com, but you'll need to be one of their registered developers to do that.

Guitar Practice (multitouch) (v. 1.3)

GeoComputing Apps опубликовал приложение 2011-09-19
(обновлено 2013-07-16)

Guitar Practice is a small guitar, with multitouch support, that fits in your Android mobile device. It includes electric and acoustic six string guitars, a four string bass guitar, a fun vibrotar, a chord player and a chord reference, all easily accessible from a single app. The guitar neck width and position, together with the string spacing, are all adjustable to suit the different screen sizes found on Android phones and tablets. There's also a skin chooser, so you can customise the look and feel of the four guitars.

You can also adjust audio settings within the app, including adjusting the pitch for each individual guitar and player for effect or to provide alternative tuning. As if that isn't enough, Guitar Practice allows you to link your accelerometer to the volume, pitch/playrate and stereo pan of all the guitars and the chord player. You can even set the sampling speed for the accelerometer effects, for creating some fun sounds.

Guitar Practice requires Android OS v1.6 or higher to run, and should work on QVGA (320x240 pixels), HVGA (480x320 pixels) and WVGA (800x480 pixels) devices, as well as most other screen resolutions.

If you like Guitar Practice, why not take a look at the app store page at www.geocomputing.co.uk. Or, if you want to try one of the guitars before buying, you can also try Guitar Practice Lite available here in the Android Market.

Guitar Practice Lite (v. 1.6)

GeoComputing Apps опубликовал приложение 2011-08-20
(обновлено 2013-05-24)

Guitar Practice Lite is a small guitar that fits in your Android mobile device. It allows you to practice playing melodies when on the move, and may help you learn to play the guitar. You can play in single touch mode on older non-multitouch Android devices, or even for easy practicing on the move. However, if you have a multitouch capable Android device you can change to multitouch mode via your menu button, whuch provides a more realistic guitar experience that allows you to play chords and even pluck multiple strings simultaneously. If you have any trouble working out how to play Guitar Practice Lite you can also find the help screen by pressing your menu button.

Guitar Practice Lite requires at least Android OS v1.6 to run, although much newer devices are recommended to take full advantage of their multitouch features. You can press the menu button on your Android device to access the about and settings screens. The settings allow you to adjust the volume, as well as adjust the sound balance to pan it left or right for use with stereo headphones and speakers. You can also vary the note playback speed which allows for some nice effects and adjustment of the pitch of each string. The settings also allow you to adjust the guitar neck width and position, as well as allowing you to vary the string spacing. All settings are persistent and so will be reloaded each time this app is run.

Guitar Practice Lite also has g-sensor (accelerometer) sound effects. You can use the g-sensor to control the volume, playrate, or stereo pan and you can select which from the guitar menu. You can also change the speed of the g-sensor sampling, to make even more interesting effects, in the audio menu. Plus you can change the look and feel of Guitar Practice Lite too, using the skin chooser menu. There's even a note learner skin that helps you learn to play, as well as a glitch art skin, plus others to suit your taste.

Diabolimaze Demo (v. 1.1)

GeoComputing Apps опубликовал приложение 2011-08-20
(обновлено 2011-08-20)

This is a fully playable demo of a maze game called Diabolimaze. It lets you play the first three levels absolutely free. The idea is to collect as many stars, in the shortest possible time, in order to achieve the highest possible score. It's a retro-feel game with sound effects, and gets quite difficult in the later levels of the full version. Diabolimaze requires Android OS v2.1 or higher to run, and is designed for tablet devices so you must have a WVGA screen for it to work properly (i.e. 800x480 pixels). Slightly larger displays (e.g. 800x600 pixels) should be fine too as the graphics will centre themselves on the available area.
