EightBells emulates the chime pattern of a traditional ships clock, i.e. 1 to 8 chimes on the hour and half hour.  Helps you keep track of time without watching the clock.  EightBells also plays any chime sequence on demand for quarterdeck ceremonies - no need to find a bell!  All chimes can be disabled w/one switch and each chime has a dedicated volume control - so chimes can be soft or off overnight and loud during work hours.  EightBells is a favorite Android accessory for sailors.

Please note that background chimes will not work if the ringer is in silent or vibrate mode, and the chime volume will be reduced during a telephone conversation.

If you need the current day of the year, you need JulDayPro.  Performs interactive Julian/DOY calculations between Gregorian/Julian calendars and shows the current JD as a screen widget.  No need to open the app while you are working on logbooks/reports!

Julian Day converts a Gregorian (calendar) date to a Julian day of the year (and from Julian to Gregorian). For example, January 1 is Julian 1, February 28 is Julian 59, etc. Of course, for a leap year February 29 would be Julian 60.
