About Gwangju Biennale and Gwangju Design Biennale

The Metropolitan City of Gwangju is a city of art, culture and high-tech industries with photonics and green energy businesses. As a city of art and culture, Gwangju and Gwangju biennale Foundation host two different biennales including international contemporary art festival, Gwangju Biennale and Gwangju Design Biennale established in 1995 and 2004. 1st of September this year is the kick-off for the 4th edition of Gwangju Design Biennale.

What was design? Design was the nineteenth-century child of Western art, architecture, and the crafts. It centered on the creation of industrially produced, mobile objects that moved freely within the global market. The designed object functioned as the aesthetic, technological, and economic focal point of the 20th century. As its movement provided the fulcrum of monumental shifts in power and imagination, it was the symbol, image, tool, and agent par excellence of modernity.


What is design? The world is changing and so is design. The shifting networks and nodes of the global world, the movement of wealth and production, the emergence of new media, the changing values of local and global communities have refocused the issues, problems, and potential of design. Design can no longer be viewed as a privileged hegemony of a limited set of names, objects, forms and modes of production based on an increasingly outdated worldview. We must understand design as a fundamental act of intervening in the way we live.

Designed by 13 well-known international architects, 13 follies are intended to play an interactive role in historical urban center in Gwangju. Far from being merely nice looking public objects, they will take over certain roles of existing public programs, encouraging the public to become more interested while utilizing them as a part of their everyday life and eventually participate in the city. Obviously as if catalysts activated latent chemical processes, it would lead to revitalization of the entire city so as to regenerate the old city center. Consequently, whilst they are to be fused into the existing urban fabric, as a whole they are intended to play a crucial role in the city by providing a public field for citizens to react to. As a practical means of building follies in the city as well as easing administrative process of ensuring possible sites, the follies should be a type of hybrid between unused public spaces and indispensible services. By incorporating public space and programs, follies will play an essential role to the public as well as it enhances the whole process of exhibition.

The Gwangju Design Biennale will serve as an opportunity to recover the notion of place in the city by means of distributing 13 follies in the city and trigger the active participation from the public into their environment, which eventually helps to regenerate the old town center.

This is a simple game that you push the monster on the screen and keep holding it.
It helps you can get endurance. (maybe or not. :D)

Features

You can challenge other users all around the world by simply holding the monster as long as you could.
Real-time world ranking is displayed on your game screen to increase tension between users.
*Real-time ranking requires 3G or WiFi connection.

Play the game to entertain yourself in your free time with HTM.

How to play

The game is so easy and simple.

1. Choose difficulty between normal and hard mode.
2. Touch the monster and keep holding.
3. The game will be terminated when you release the monster.

Difficulty

Normal mode
The monster is big enough to switch the finger while you are playing.
Even if you release the monster or receive a incoming call or a push message during the game, you can still continue playing.
Push [restart] button to restart the game.

Hard mode
The monster becomes smaller. you can hardly switch your finger.
The game will be over when you receive a call or a push. No Mercy!

Record Competition
Check your local history on [Highscore] menu
In [RanKing], you can check the World (or your country) top 20 records.
Change nickname and country in [Account]. your default nickname is Player99999.

*Online ranking requires 3G or WiFi connection.

If you were offline (such as airplane mode), your record would still be saved in your local database and it will be automatically updated in online ranking when connected.
