We are pleased to invite you to the 9th Joint Meeting of the International Cytokine Society (ICS) and the International Society for Interferon and Cytokine Research (ISICR).

The overall theme for this Cytokines 2011 is “Cytokines and Interferons: from the bench to the bedside”.

We are excited about the prospect of hosting up to 1000 international and local participants at this Joint Meeting in Florence. An outstanding international schedule consisting of Plenary Sessions, Symposia, Workshops, and Poster Sessions has been arranged to bring together leading research workers in cytokine biology, cancer, immunology, virology and infectious diseases in a forum that emphasizes the intersection of these expanding fields.

The topics at this conference will cover a full spectrum from basic science to clinical, biotechnological and pharmaceutical research. Research in this area of immunology has been directly responsible for the development of growth factors and their application in hematology, for new treatments in oncology, for a new generation of anti-inflammatory drugs, and for treatments for multiple sclerosis, hepatitis and viral syndromes.

Summer programs at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) provide students with an opportunity to spend a summer working with NCI scientists and clinicians located on the NIH main campus in Bethesda, MD and off campus in the surrounding area in Rockville, MD and Frederick, MD. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is one of 27 Institutes and Centers as part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and consists of almost 350 principal investigators and about 1100 postdoctoral fellows and clinical fellows. The NCI conducts and supports research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs with respect to the cause, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer, rehabilitation from cancer, and the continuing care of cancer patients and the families of cancer patients.

The NCI Summer Internship Program (NCI SIP) covers a minimum of eight weeks, with students generally arriving in May or June. The NCI and the NIH Office of Intramural Training and Education sponsor a wide range of summer activities including lectures offered under the NIH Summer Seminar Series, attend career/professional development workshops, and participate in the NIH Summer Research Poster Day. This event will feature 25 vendors representing the latest in mobile technologies, carriers, website/app developers, and research/clinical applications.  In addition to the Expo, a series of mobile-related presentations will be held in the Masur Auditorium from 9:30a,-2pm and several in-depth developer sessions will be held in parallel from 10am-2:30pm in the NIH Library training room.  All presentations in Masur will be broadcast live on http://videocast.nih.gov.

Experimental Biology is an annual meeting comprised of nearly 13,000 scientists and exhibitors representing six sponsoring societies and 16 guest societies. General fields of study include anatomy, biochemistry/molecular biology, nutrition, pathology, pharmacology/experimental therapeutics and physiology. EB 2011 is open to all members of the sponsoring and guest societies and nonmembers with interest in research and life sciences. The majority of scientists represent university and academic institutions as well as government agencies, non-profit organizations and private corporations.

This multidisciplinary, scientific meeting features plenary and award lectures, pre-meeting workshops, oral and poster sessions, on-site career services and exhibits of an array of equipment, supplies and publications required for research labs and experimental study.

The Britt Technology Impact Series (BTIS) is a program of MBA-facing initiatives including panels and conferences, Tech@Tuck events, industry speakers and academic seminars focused on a yearly theme, illuminating the impact of a technology on individuals and enterprises. At the end of each year, the Center produces an overview to summarize learning from the various events and providing students with tangible perspectives on the relevant business and technology issues.
