Pub Crawl, Beer Run, Bar Tour – whatever you call it, Beer Crawler will entertain you and your friends along the way.  It is the original Pub or Bar Crawl App which allows you to track your progress, and that of your friends, on crawls set up by you, or others.  Track your drink consumption and thoughts on each pub and bar, and compare these with your friends as you go along! The in-built drunkenness tester, together with Facebook integration, provides for a fun day out even when the beer isn’t up to scratch!

If you are joining a Beer Crawl set up by someone else, all you need is the Beer Key to get going.  Otherwise, why not set up your own Beer Crawl and invite others to join you!
Beer Crawler has the following features:
• Create your own crawl or join someone else’s.
• Check-in to each place (choose between pub/bar/café/club, food stop/restaurant, transport mode/walk/train/bus, or other).
• Comment on each place, and on your feeling.
• Add drinks from a default list (including lager, cider, ale, wine, cocktails, spirits, liquers), or add your own custom drinks.
• Set reminders to leave each place on time.
• Perform a reaction-time/accuracy drunkenness test in each place to measure approximate intoxication.
• View all your friends’ progress.
• Compare your friends’ drunkenness on a graph over time.
• Chat with your friends with an in-built chat feature.
• Share your current progress on Facebook, Google+, Twitter and other social networks etc.
• See the crawl’s route on a map, and click on each place to see where everyone is.
• Send an email of the day or night’s progress.
• Off-line use is supported for those cellar bars or country pubs with no data-connection.
• Nice swipe action feature to move between pages.
• View old crawls stored on your phone to remind you of the (hopefully) good memories (in case you can’t remember them for some reason!)
• Easy to create your own crawl with postal code search for location set-up.

SLater (or Search Later) is the new, powerful search app for those short on time or internet connection.  If you can't search now, SLate it!

SLater can be used if:
• You currently have no internet connection.
• Or you are too busy right now to search the web.
• Or you don't want to forget what you were going to search for.

Whenever you think of something you would like to know, enter it as a SLate. Now you can get back to what you were doing before with no fuss. SLater goes away and performs the search in the background, saving the results to your SD card.  When you are ready, check out the results at your leisure.

Mood Meter (v. 1.0)

Mood Meter is an app and widget that tells you how happy or moody you are with a score, droid smiley and messages.  It also gives you helpful tips if you need to cheer up!

It does this by taking various bits of information from your phone, including:
• How long ago someone rang or text you.
• What the weather is near you.
• What day of the week it is.
• When your nearest event in your calendar is (non-recurring events).
• What time of day it is.
• How connected you are to the outside world (WIFI / 3G etc).
• How much battery life you have.

It then gives you various percentage scores, and humorous phrases and tips to cheer yourself up, or if you are feeling good - just keeps you feeling good!

The widget displays the smiley droid that best suits you, and also the overall percentage.

Also included is Mate Mood Meter - are you happy with your mates?  Funny and sometimes silly phrases about how matched the contact is between your top contacts.

NEW FEATURE: World Mood Meter (beta) - This unique feature compares your mood to those Mood Meter users around the world. Ever wanted to know whether you were happier than average?  Well now you can, with the world mood, as well as individual country moods available, together with amusing phrases to keep you entertained. Note this is ad-supported to pay for the server-side technology. Please comment if you like it!

Travel Blog (v. 1.7)

Travel Blog is a FREE, open-sourced, advert-free, Android application.  It is a manual travel logger perfect for any traveller.

It can:
• Log your location from GPS, Wifi or cell-id (tells you how accurate the fix is).
  • GPS turns off automatically after 15 seconds, or if it finds a GPS fix - a battery saver!
• Attach a name and description with current timestamp.
• Log multiple trips.
• Edit or delete old posts.
• Save as KML file to SD card:
  • KML file can then be Sent via email, or anything else you have installed like Dropbox.
  • KML files can be imported to Google Earth and other similar applications.
  • Time-stamp of each post saved so Google Earth animations and timelines can be used.
• View trip on Google Maps.

It is not a battery hogger as it doesn't continually log your location, perfect for travelling in remote parts of the world, or long periods away from power.  It also doesn't need internet (unless you want to view trip in google maps, or send it via email etc), perfect for travel abroad where data roaming costs plenty.

Why you need Travel Blog?

There are many uses of Travel Blog.  Whenever you want to record your location manually (only record the interesting bits), this is the app for the job!  You can then look at your trips directly on your phone, or share them with others.

If, like me, you like to use all the free technology available to you, here is a more involved use case example:

You are going on a long holiday abroad.  You have your Android phone with you, but know the battery doesn't last long, and you can't afford the data roaming charges.  You would like to record where you went or keep your family and friends abreast of your travels.  So you can set up your own travel blog on Blogger.  You can also set up your own Dropbox account which is online place to store files.  By now your using the Travel Blog app, and are recording your location (say your hotel, favourite beach, day trip to a city, weekend trip to the mountains etc etc).  You come across Wifi access in your hotel, cafe or train - now you can send your Travel Blog trip file to Dropbox.  If you have no Wifi access, you decide to plug your phone into a PC at the local cyber cafe, and transfer the file manually to the PC, and from there to Dropbox.

Now before you went away, you set your up your blog website with a link to the Google Maps search of you Dropbox Travel Blog file:  In Dropbox, copy the link to your KML file by going to share...  Now in Google Maps, enter this copied link into the Search Maps box and hit enter.  This is your map, and you can now share this map.  Goto Link, and either embed the HTML into your Blog website, or just share the link in emails, or on your blog website.

As long as you also overwrite the same file in Dropbox with your updated Travel Blog trip, your Blog website will always be up-to-date, and won't need changing each time to point to a new file.  Genius!
