מטרתו של שיחון זה לשמש לך כלי תקשורת בסיסי וקל - הן בהבנה והן בדיבור - בבואך לתקשר בספרדית. בשיחון קובץ מובחר של יותר מ-2,000 מילים, ביטויים ומושגים שאותם מצאנו כשימושיים וכנחוצים ביותר לדובר העברית. השיחון חולק לנושאים הלקוחים מחיי היום-יום שלנו, ועל כן הוא מתאים לא רק לשימושו של המטייל בארץ דוברת ספרדית - אלא לכל אחד או אחת המעוניינים להיות מסוגלים להבין ולהתבטא באופן בסיסי בשפה הספרדית, וזאת מבלי להצטרך (בשלב זה...) להתעמק ביסודות הדקדוק והתחביר בשפה זו.
יש לזכור ששיחון אינו מילון, ועל-כן לא תמיד הוא מתיימר לתת תרגום מילולי. מטרתו של השיחון להבהיר את כוונת הדובר, ועיקרון זה מביא לכך שהתרגום הספרדי אינו בהכרח התרגום המילולי, אלא מילה או ביטוי שבהקשר הניתן מקביל לו או זהה לו בכוונתו.
