Null Keyboard (v. one) Разработано wParam |
A keyboard that does nothing.
Yes, really.
This keyboard is useful if you have an external bluetooth keyboard paired with your phone and you want to stop the on-screen keyboard from popping up all the time.
To use, go in to keyboard settings and enable null keyboard, and then pick it as your input method. No keyboard should appear until you change it back.
NOTE: Samsung galaxy tabs running the latest android have an issue where the keyboard is frequently switched back to the on-screen keyboard. As far as I can tell, a fix for this needs to come from samsung, not from me. Even if it's something I can fix on my end, without a tab to test on, there's no way I'm going to be able to figure out what it is.

[2013-08-12] A Google User: Works great! I recently purchased a bluetooth keyboard for my Note 10.1 and it was behaving strangely. I could not press the number keys, it would only press the symbols linked to those numbers, like the "@" linked with the "2". After I installed this, everything is working like a charm!! |
[2013-08-01] A Google User: No switch between input languages I need to constantly switch between two languages for typing. With all other keyboards it was <Shift> + <Space>. In this one, it doesn't work. Is there a way to switch using keyboard commands? |
[2013-08-01] A Google User: Using Cut and Paste crashes tablet This happens in both Polaris Office and the Kingsoft Word processor. I assume it's due to the paste pop up window being inhibited along with the keyboard. Tablet is a Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch running 4.1.1 |
[2013-07-31] A Google User: Doesnt work With Belkin Downloaded app to disable the Samsung pop up keyboard and it did not work. Keyboard still popping up. |
[2013-07-30] A Google User: works as advertised :) great way to remove the software keyboard. also, it's free. |
[2013-07-21] A Google User: Does what it says So funny why this function isn't built-in on android. The app does what it is intended for, which is that it does "Nothing" ;-) |
[2013-07-19] A Google User: Ace Perfect on my Galaxy Tab2. Thank goodness as I was beside myself. And thank you. Since found slight prob. When Tablet first swiitches on, it reverts to Samsung keyboard. But once reset in settings it is fine. |
[2013-07-15] A Google User: Great ! :) This is what im searching the internet because i bought a keyboardcase for my tablet . Great work. Keep it up. |
[2013-07-13] A Google User: This is a browser hijacker This app hijacked my browser to an ad site. I uninstalled the app but I can't get rid of the adware. |
[2013-07-11] A Google User: does what it says |
[2013-07-08] A Google User: It fixed a shift key problem When I used Shift 2 and Shift 3 on the Toshiba Wireless Keyboard with the Samsung Galaxy Tab Tablet it printed " and the English pound signs respectively. On using the Null Keyboard these shift keys returned the correct signs of @ and # respectivly. Great stuff. |
[2013-07-07] A Google User: Works great! Didn't bother testing other apps. (N10.1) |
[2013-07-06] A Google User: can't get it to override the samsung keyboard |
[2013-06-29] A Google User: Godsend! Oh man, I am so glad this was made and that I found it. I have an MK-808 and I loathe the fact the soft keyboard kept popping up and I have a keyboard.. This works perfectly and there is NO info taken from this as some lady before thought, which was laughable. |
[2013-06-25] A Google User: Not the developers fault but.... Even after setting up a bluetooth keyboard and this app, if the keyboard times out, the Samsung device defaults to an onscreen keyboard so it's quite annoying. TIP: If you don't want the black box on the bottom, change your keyboard through Settings rather than the keyboard icon on the bottom. Wish device was smart enough to detect bluetooth connection is a keyboard so onscreen doesn't pop up. Not the fault of the developers, just so you know what to expect on the Galaxy Note 10.1 |
[2013-06-24] A Google User: Works as stated I can't understand why we have to download an app (albeit free) to dismiss the virtual keyboard & keep it dismissed. When I put my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (v4.0.4) into the Samsung keyboard dock, it should auto-disable the virtual KB until I remove it. Not rocket science here! Kudos to NULL KEYBOARD. |
[2013-06-18] A Google User: Way to hide keyboard This keyboard works perfectly with the Bluetooth keyboard. |
[2013-06-08] A Google User: it works... keyboard issue solved... |
[2013-06-07] A Google User: It doesnt work It does not work on the Samsung galaxy tab with ICS. I have tried everything and the factory samsung keypad keeps poping up whenever I select a text field. |
[2013-05-29] A Google User: No Difference Samsung Galaxy Note GTN7000B, Ice Cream Sandwhich. External blue tooth keyboard working ok, but soft keyboard continues to pop-up even though Null Keyboard is the only activated input device in settings. |
[2013-05-28] A Google User: Perfect for bluetooth keyboard users Stops that infuriating Android keyboard from popping up all the time, just to annoy you. |
[2013-05-23] A Google User: Y Y |
[2013-05-15] A Google User: Perfect Can't believe there isn't a system version of this, works brilliantly and very useful with Bluetooth keyboard. |
[2013-05-05] A Google User: Leaves Big Blank Space This app does what it intends, with two flaws: (1) collects priavte data, (2) instead of minimizing the keyboard, it simply removes the visible keys and leaves a large blank area on your screen where your keyboard would normally be. |
[2013-05-04] A Google User: Perfect This does exactly what I need to do when I have a physical keyboard connected to my tablet. The message about the possibilty of collecting info like passwords and credit card numbers is part of the OS, and this app can't do that because it doesn't have permission to access the Internet. |
[2013-04-25] A Google User: Null Keyboard Very nice. Keeps my screen clear for composing. |
[2013-04-25] A Google User: Other reviewers speak nonsense. This app does not collect data. That warning is the default Android warning when you install ANY input method. This app wouldn't be able to do anything even if it collected data. It has no permissions to save to SD, access internet, so it would have no way to do anything with that data. And with a size of 18kb, there definitely isn't enough code in this to mine data. Stop being paranoid. |
[2013-04-15] A Google User: Does what it says! Gets rid of that pesky thumb keyboard that pops up while you're using bluetooth:) Thx for this useful little app. |
[2013-04-14] A Google User: Works perfectly for me. For the guy below me, EVERY third-party Keyboards you enable will have that warning. >>>>> EVERY <<<<<<< |
[2013-04-11] A Google User: Didn't even bother with it.This is an ID-thief app First thing this app says before you can use it is: "it will collect all the text you type, including personal info and credit card numbers." You're kidding, right? Everyone should uninstall it. |
[2013-04-09] A Google User: Thanks |
[2013-04-02] A Google User: does nothing working as intended |
[2013-04-02] A Google User: Awesome this completely solved the annoyance I was having with my Android MiniPC (I hated the keyboard always popping up. Thing of beauty I tell ya |
[2013-04-01] A Google User: I must be missing something... I've tried two keyboards and on both keyboards, when I press the Enter key, nothing happens. For example, when I am typing a search input and I press Enter, then I want Android to perform the search. Now, it could be the keyboard which is not sending the right key for Android to recognize, but I should imagine that Null keyboard can help translate this into the correct behavior on Android. Apparently External Keyboard Helper Pro can do this, it'd be nice if Null keyboard can do this, too. I am only making an assumption that EKHP can do this, though, without trying this myself, based on some comments on its capabilities. I also noted that this seems to be app specific. However, so far, the standard Browser, Chrome, and Dolphin do not go to the specified URL when I press Enter and at least Browser does not go to the search results after hitting Enter from the search field in google.com. Also, pressing Enter when typing in something in Google Search also does not automatically perform a search. Obviously, Null keyboard may not be at fault, but it'd be great if Null keyboard could handle these situations automatically. |
[2013-03-31] A Google User: ek no! |
[2013-03-30] A Google User: Good and simple I had to set it as default keyboard in order to work.Just choosing it did not work. |
[2013-03-29] A Google User: perfect just what i needed for my new android stick pc. thanks for nothing! :D |
[2013-03-26] A Google User: Galaxy Tab 2 7" It just works. No frills, in fact NOTHING. All I'm asking for is a keyboard that does nothing and guess what? This does nothing. I see some complaints from other users that this isn't working so well and leaves a black bar. I don't know if they fixed this, but I am running 4.1.1 jb on my tablet and there are no issues. Thank you developers for making nothing a reality. |
[2013-03-20] A Google User: Awesome This app worked like a charm, now it is so much easier to use the bluetooth keyboard and there is less lag from the on-screen keyboard trying to load as well |
[2013-03-20] A Google User: Does nothing, keyboad still showing. 0 stars if I could |
[2013-03-19] A Google User: Not working with Samsung 10.1 Tab Unfortunately, I was expecting to work as stated by the developer, but is not. Had to uninstall! |
[2013-03-16] A Google User: Great app, could use a tutorial I have a Minix G4 Mini PC "android on a stick" connected to my HDTV and controlled with a wireless keyboard/mouse. This app fixed one of my only major problems with this device, the on screen keyboard that would not go away! THANK YOU! It's not clear by the title that this is an app that removes the on screen display. They also should have included an explanation of how to set it up for the android novices but at least someone else explained it in there review. |
[2013-03-15] A Google User: great works 100% |
[2013-03-11] A Google User: Works *most* of the time Galaxy Tab 2/Jelly Bean App woks most off the time...occasionaly, I'm forced to go back into Settings and make Null the default keyboard again. 5 Stars if that gets fixed! |
[2013-03-08] A Google User: Perfect! In use with an mk808B and the newest Finless 1.7 ROM. Works perfectly. Only minor issue is that you need to completely exit the app you changed your input method in, or you'll get a rectangle over the area where the keyboard would have been. This only happens once though and after that it works perfectly every time. |
[2013-03-07] A Google User: Exactly what I needed Prevents the annoying stock keyboard from popping up every time I tried to type something with my wireless logitech keyboard. I use it on my Minix Neo x5 Android Mini PC. |
[2013-03-03] A Google User: Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Works great on my tab. No more on screen keyboard. |
[2013-03-01] A Google User: needs update works, but not for jellybean. |
[2013-02-28] A Google User: Works perfect Does exaclt what is says works pefect |
[2013-02-14] A Google User: Eh, one main problem... I had to edit my earlier review because it turned out that one of the problems was not due to the app but simply to the word processor that I was using. I'm glad that was the case so this app easily gets 4 stars. It would get 5 stars but there is one crucial feature that I think is missing: It lacks the ability to change to an onscreen keyboard. In my Android devices, whenever I need to change my keyboard, I can do it by clicking on a keyboard icon at the bottom of the screen and it gives me a list of keyboards that I could use (one of them being now the Null Keyboard). But with the Null Keyboard active, that icon no longer appears. I haven't tried yet, but I think that to change back to an onscreen keyboard (e.g. for those times when I take the tablet in hand and leave the keyboard on the desk), I would have to go to the Settings menu and choose the keyboard I want. To be honest, it's only a minor inconvenience, and if I were able to give 4.5 stars I would. But it is an inconvenience nonetheless and therefore I can't give the full 5 stars. Maybe this can be fixed in an update. Other than that, I LOVE this app so far! |
[2013-01-28] A Google User: Uninstalled before use Unsure about using this app now, because when I went to select it, a window pops up saying "it will collect all the text you type, including personal info and credit card numbers." Yeah, I don't think so. |
[2013-01-28] A Google User: galaxy tab 2 10.1 worked great till last update, now the on screen keyboard comes up every time i have to type something and i have change my input method every time i use my bluetooth keyboard. Its such a shame because it worked perfectly before update. Can u fix, please |
[2013-01-27] A Google User: Does exactly what it should. Perfect free app. I've used it for years, although I've finally switched to the paid app, "External Keyboard Helper Pro". |
[2013-01-23] A Google User: Wont work properly since Jellybean update Since Jellybean update Null keyboard keeps being disabled as default by Samsung. When I switch back to Null as default, the area on the screen becomes blacked out. Worked great before the software upgrade, please fix. |
[2013-01-20] A Google User: Fandabydozy This problem was driving me insane but thanks to you I have recovered my insanity and can live a normal life – cheers. Does what it says on the tin and works a treat. |
[2013-01-16] A Google User: Great! Only small issue I have is that switching to it in certain apps leaves an empty area where the keyboard was. Reopening the app fixes, as does Tasker or setting the IME manually. |
[2013-01-08] A Google User: Perfect! Now I don't loose half my screen when I type. |
[2013-01-06] A Google User: works perfectly! love this app, just got my first bluetooth keyboard for my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and this program easily removes that pesky on-screen keyboard. Best of all, it's free. Who can argue with that? |
[2013-01-05] A Google User: A must have for using samsung keyboard The samsung galaxy tab doesn't pick up the ddocked keyboard so it still pops up. This is a life saver - one click and it turns the tab into a PC |
[2013-01-05] A Google User: Perfect Just what I needed. |
[2013-01-01] A Google User: Nice apps |

[2012-12-15] A Google User: Perfect! I'd been needing something to stop the keyboard from popping up on my Galaxy tab and this app is fantastic. Nice to have the full screen all to whatever |
[2012-12-03] A Google User: Fantastic! Does exactly what it says! |
[2012-11-26] A Google User: no use half of the screen turns black. Yes, there is no keyboard, but useless. |
[2012-11-19] A Google User: great app!!!!!!!!! hide touch keyboard when externa keyboard is used |
[2012-11-13] A Google User: Works as it should Very helpful for landscape typing with a bluetooth keyboard. |
[2012-11-07] A Google User: Works as described Works great. I use Tasker to activate this whenever my Logitech BT keyboard is connected. That way the screen isn't eaten up by a keyboard. This is especially annoying in landscape mode. Thanks for a good usable, no frills app. |
[2012-10-20] A Google User: very good application can disable annoying softkeyboard completely :) |
[2012-10-10] A Google User: A keyboard that does nothing.... I think I saw it on Seinfeld ;-) |
[2012-10-05] A Google User: Needs a JellyBean update When switching from a virtual keyboard to Null Keyboard, it leaves a grey rectangle where the virtual keyboard was, taking up half the screen and not working properly until I quit and restart the app. Could use this fix, which would make this free app perfect! |
[2012-09-27] A Google User: Great |
[2012-09-14] A Google User: Does what it says..."Nothing!" Works great on my Galaxy Tab 10.1. With an external keyboard it was driving me crazy having the on-screen one coming up and taking all the screen space...problem solved. I wonder why Google doesn't include something like this? |
[2012-09-12] A Google User: Works perfectly!! The soft keyboard used to always pop up when I touched the screen while editing documents on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, but now I can switch to the Null Keyboard after plugging in my keyboard dock, and don't have to worry about the on-screen keyboard taking up space. Thanks so much! |
[2012-08-17] A Google User: Galaxy Tab 10.1 This works great on the tab with keeping the oem samsung keyboard fully functional! |
[2012-08-06] A Google User: Works well With this and Settings, Input methods, Always show input selector ticked, it's a breaze to stop the software keyboard when I have my BT keyboard connected. |
[2012-08-02] A Google User: It works! I am so happy to no longer be annoyed :) |
[2012-07-30] A Google User: Just what i'm looking for Simple yet very useful app.. Great job! |
[2012-07-11] A Google User: Great App Works like a champ on Samsung Galaxy 2, 10.1 with ics. Stopped that screen from popping up when using a Logitech bluetooth. Developer must be a smart person. |
[2012-07-09] A Google User: Does "Nothing" & Costs Even Less //Can't beat the price! //Very useful when using an external (bluetooth) keyboard with both my phone and tab. //Samsung Galaxy SII (Skyrocket)/Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 //Thank You dev.! |
[2012-06-28] A Google User: Great! Resolved virtual keyboard problem if using DROID3 with lapdock This is great. If using DROID3 with lapdock then virtual keyboard appears on every change. This is not acceptable and motorola had to learn from ths developer, who resolved this problem. Thanks very much for great application |
[2012-06-26] A Google User: GREAT!!! it works so good. thanks so much for making this app. |
[2012-06-17] A Google User: Samsung TAB 7.0【GT-P6200】: MARK ME ≈≫ Helpfull 《 Disables the on-screen keyboard 》for external keyboards。 =======================================================How to Activate:Click lower right screen 「clock area」SETTINGS ➺ [ Language and input ] ➺ under 〔Keyboard settings〕Configure input methods>check to Activate。 |
[2012-06-13] A Google User: Perfect Better than nothing, because... oh, never mind. Does the trick. |
[2012-06-03] A Google User: Perfect The app is perfect for those using a bluetooth keyboard, and who are being driven crazy everytime the on-screen keyboard pops up when you click in a text field. It also seems to add more PC-like functionality, by including quite a few hotkeys. Text input is flawless, and very quick. Can pretty much transform a tablet with a dock into a small netbook :) enjoy |
[2012-05-28] A Google User: Wonderful. Brilliant. Exactly what I needed. That was pretty much the last hangup I had with my new tablet, now it's solved! I love you. |
[2012-05-11] A Google User: Excellent My only issue (on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 running Android 3.2) is that some of the special keys on my Zagg keyboard (such as paste) don't work in some apps (such as Dolphin). |
[2012-05-10] A Google User: SO ADVANCED GOOD GOD HOW LONG DID IT TAKE FOR SUCH A COMPLEX CONCEPT TO COME TO REALITY?! |
[2012-04-28] A Google User: Works as advertised... For those that are not able to make it work, set it on language and keyboard then set null keyboard as default keyboard... Galaxy Note... |
[2012-04-08] A Google User: Perfect It's a shame that devs have to make stuff like this, instead of Google or the individual manufactorers realizing that it's a problem and fixing it themselves. Either way, thanks for thinking of this and doing it! Others in the future will hate me for saying this, but I would've paid $1 or something for this... |
[2012-04-04] A Google User: could be nice for english. but it does not support layout switching. |
[2012-04-04] A Google User: Essential for Sony Xperia Pro Using this allows me to select text using shift+the arrow keys on my Sony Xperia Pro (basically works-around a Sony bug). |
[2012-03-17] A Google User: Works as advertized!!! Easy to install and with the option to disable whenever you want its perfect! Thanks for the ap! ^_^ |
[2012-03-02] A Google User: There's just one thing... It's nothing to switch the language with when this input method is selected. Just when I finally thought I found what I was looking for.. :( |
[2012-03-02] EvilBlade: There's just one thing... It's nothing to switch the language with when this input method is selected. Just when I finally thought I found what I was looking for.. :( |
