Android interface for DOEmail (http://doemail.org/).

DOEmail is a FREE anti-SPAM solution that utilizes white and black lists - you get to decide who can (and can't) send you email. It's a bit like a "buddy list" in Instant Messenger applications. DOEmail maintains your own private whitelist -- if someone is on your whitelist (and not on your blacklist), then their email is delivered to you. So how does someone get added to your whitelist? There are three main ways:

   1. You can manually add a sender (e.g. someone@stanford.edu) or a whole domain (e.g. stanford.edu) to your whitelist, so they can always send you an email. These senders will never need to know you are using DOEmail.

   2. Everyone you send email to is automatically added to your whitelist; they don't know you are using DOEmail either.

   3. If someone sends you an email and they are not on your whitelist (or blacklist) then DOEmail sends them a Confirmation Email (see example image below). By replying correctly to the Confirmation Email, they demonstrate that they are a real human, and not some SPAM-spewing computer.

In this way, DOEmail eliminates SPAM while delivering legitimate email to your inbox.

DOEmail has been developed as an alternative to bayesian and other filtering based anti-spam systems, to research and compare the effectiveness of a whitelist based service in the real world.

This project is being developed in the Computer Science department at Stanford University by David Erickson, a member of the High Performance Networking Group

"Who's Calling?" reads the name of the calling party for incoming phone calls or the sender's name of a received message.

Features:
-Uses default TTS engine and language pack. Please ensure that "voice data" in Text-to-speech settings is installed
-Configurable format of spoken name (first name, display name, ...)
-Certain contacts can be disabled or a custom name can be defined
-Speech volume can be configured relative to ring tone volume
-Test mode to simulate incoming calls and messages
-Mute speech by flipping the phone
-Ad-free


Important note:
-On some devices (especially Samsung) the ringtone volume might be lowered after ringing. Who's calling uses the ringer volume as reference to adjust the TTS volume and to lower the ringtone volume during the call announcement. Some Android versions seem to let the ringtone fade-in. Who's calling will then use the very silent volume as reference. To avoid this, the initial pause in "speech pauses" can be adjusted to 2000ms or more.

-If the call isn't announced via headphones, please try to use a different audio stream (setting "Audio stream for TTS")

This application lets other people know (ie. family, friends, customers, relatives, etc) your location when you are driving nearby a pre-defined point (ie. home, a city, town, mall, etc). By marking points on a map, the platform
reports your position along the route you are driving on. The application sends text-messages (SMS) to a chosen person (mobile number) when you are driving near to those reference points you previously defined. This app is safe and battery efficient.

Why the app is Safe?
1. It always shows an icon on the status bar when the service is ON even when a different app is foreground).
2.You decide when to start or stop the service.
3.You decide what phone number to send the sms to.
4.You decide at what points the messages should be sent. Keeping this way your  privacy

Why the app is battery-efficient?
1. In 99% of the app uses, you enable the service using Cellular Network Coverage (and not the GPS ), a working scheme not consuming additional battery.

Look at the tips&tricks section in the user manual for additional details  about this mode of operation.

This application is very easy-to-use, practical and has a universe of  uses and advantages.
For example, if someone is waiting for you at a place, it is no longer necessary for you to keep on making several
phone calls to report what your current location is. The system can automatically send a message when you are nearby a place defined by you  at your convenience. For those special occasions to share with family or the love ones such as Thanksgiving day, where many people travel
long distances to come back home, the people waiting for you should no  longer hurry up because the dinner is not ready or because they have no idea of your whereabouts.
You can configure the platform to send SMSs
when your journey starts, when you are half-way the destination and when you are about to get home.

With this App you can send a Message and the caller ID to your PC, which will be shown as a POPUP message for some seconds.
If a phone call arrives the number shown on your phone display ( caller ID or incoming phone number) will be shown on your PC screen. The full version will show you also the callers name (when stored on the phone).

The App is written for home office use with direct IP (WLAN) communication possible between your Phone and your home office PC. On the PC side you need a small Java program for displaying the messages.

If many persons are interested in this app it will be enhanced to display a picture of the caller on the PC or any other data of your choice.  

On the PC side a Java SE Installation is required.
It is also a good thing to have the echo service running on port 7. If there is a firewall active on your pc you need to adapt the rules to allow data flow to port 7 and 6789 (where the message listener runs).

The PC side Java app was tested with Windows XP and
Ubuntu 10.10 Linux.
