Augustine wrote the treatise to explain Christianity's relationship with competing religions and philosophies, and to the Roman government with which it was increasingly intertwined. It was written soon after Rome was sacked by the Visigoths in 410. This event left Romans in a deep state of shock, and many saw it as punishment for abandoning their Roman religion. It was in this atmosphere that Augustine set out to provide a consolation of Christianity, writing that, even if the earthly rule of the empire was imperilled, it was the City of God that would ultimately triumph — symbolically, Augustine's eyes were fixed on heaven, a theme repeated in many Christian works of Late Antiquity.

    五十年前，一群長沙土夫子(盜墓賊)挖到一部戰國帛書，殘篇中記載了一座奇特的戰國古墓的位置，但那群土夫子在地下碰上了詭異事件，幾乎全部身亡。
　　五十年後，其中一個土夫子的孫子在先人筆記中發現了這個秘密，他和一批經驗豐富的盜墓高手前去尋寶。但誰也沒有想到，這個古墓中竟然有著這麽多詭異的事物：七星疑棺、青眼狐屍、九頭蛇柏……
　　這神秘的墓主人到底是誰，他們到底能不能找到真正的棺椁？爲什麽墓中還有那麽多謎團無法破解？後來發現的海底詭異船墓、秦嶺上的萬年神木以及崇山峻嶺中的天宮雪墓與這座古墓又有著怎樣的關系？ 它們背後究竟隱藏著哪些千古之謎？夠膽量就看《盜墓筆記》。
　　盜墓筆記的故事，大體可以狠好的分塊。　
　　1.最早發生的事情，是在長沙的镖子嶺。
　　幾個解放初期的盜墓賊從戰國古墓中盜出了本書的一條主線：戰國帛書。這是吳邪爺爺輩的事情，也就是狗五爺年少時候的故事，當時還沒有江湖上的排行，當時最有名的一共是九個人，陳皮阿四，狗五，黑背老六等等，其中最末的九是解阿九，也就是解連環的老爸，這是吳邪沒提過的。
　　後面也有所謂的十爺，十一爺，那承認的範圍就狠小，都是自己或者手下封的，說到外面別人都不知道。
　　有人說陳皮阿四九十多了，五十年前他也四十了，而當時狗五還不大，算他當時十七歲，年少成名，也得十年，那時候算二十七，如何能排在近五十的陳皮阿四後面，成爲狗五？如此排下去，解小九當時不是在穿開裆褲？
　　這有點無理取鬧，有點常識的都知道江湖上排的不是年齡，而是資曆和輩分，而且這些都是人家給排的，吳邪爺爺的狗五，排的如此高，可見他當時的手腕和魄力的確是厲害，讓人不得不服。
　　2.第二個故事，同樣發生在镖子嶺。
　　那是吳邪三叔夜盜血屍墓截了美國人的胡的那件事情，事情發生在第一個故事發生約二十年到三十年後，這件事情可以說完全是巧合，而三叔也由此知道了當年吳邪爺爺他們第一次下血屍墓，血屍墓底下發生的事情。這一次冒險，三叔上升了經驗值若幹，得到了一顆奇怪的丹藥。這只是一個插曲，但是這件事情，可以說是以後西沙事件的起因了。
　　3.第三個故事，發生在西沙的外海。
　　也就是三叔怒海潛沙的故事了，本故事中張起靈的出現形成了本書最大的迷團，這個故事有兩個版本，一個三叔的忽悠版本，一個是三叔曆盡波劫後坦誠的版本，到底有多少是真實的，現在還不知道，因爲在三叔心中，必然還有一個巨大的秘密，而這個秘密從現在看來，似乎和吳邪有關，所以從三叔口中得知西沙完全的事實，似乎並不現實，吳邪只有去找三叔之外的幸存者。
　　4.第四個故事，發生在山東的七星魯王宮內。
　　這是本作的第一個故事，也是吳邪的第一次下地，經曆過這一次後吳邪從堅定的無神論者變成了神經病者，參與到這種犯罪活動中實在是好奇心作怪，這個故事中，靠著悶油瓶的力挽狂瀾，吳邪們最終逃出了生天，由此之前的三個故事，通過這個故事有機的融合到了一起，戰國帛書，西沙海底時間，莫名的丹藥，幾條線索聚合，整個故事開始極端的撲朔迷離。
　　5.第五個故事，重新回到了西沙外海。
　　這一次是吳邪自己再次進入到汪藏海的墓穴，時隔又將近二十年，尋找消失在墓穴中的三叔，此時的三叔，已經從海底得到了天宮的線索，開始了雲頂天宮的計劃，而吳邪們還像傻瓜一樣，進入到了裏面，這是一次于汪藏海相隔千年的博弈，最後是王胖子的不拐彎的思維，讓吳邪們再次活了下來，在這個故事中，本作中的三股力量終于彙聚到了一起，謎團開始發展，追求真相的吳邪們，有著自己計劃的三叔以及前幾個故事中陰魂不散的海外力量，在這裏第一次面對面的開始了較量。兩條主線中，故事順著汪藏海千年前寫好的劇本發展了下去。而另一條暫時中斷了。
　　6.第六個故事，秦嶺神樹
　　這是诟病最多的一個故事，編輯們認爲最好，最有文學性，讀者認爲不知所謂的一個故事，這個故事和主線關系不大，只是引出了山底下巨大的青銅古迹，同時也讓主角的能力得到了提升，在這個故事中，吳邪獨立帶領著心懷不軌的童年好友，深入到了秦嶺深處，這個故事對于吳邪來說，有時候想想，好比是一個長長的夢，大有不真實的感覺。
　　7.第七個故事，長白山，永遠的雲頂天宮。
　　這是最艱難的探險，也是吳邪寫的最痛苦的一篇，各路人馬帶著各自的謎團走上死亡之路，漫天的白雪，狹窄雪域中的痛苦跋涉，在雪域中，吳邪們找到了一千年前汪藏海試圖留給後人的終極秘密，然而，這個秘密在地底巨大的青銅門之前，戛然而止，深入到地底巨門中的張起靈，似乎是唯一一個最貼近這個秘密的人。汪藏海的主線到了這裏停止了，鐵面生的主線重新開始。
　　8.第八個故事，就是蛇沼鬼城。
　　由線索拼接成的另外兩個故事，貫徹了整個故事，第一個是汪藏海的傳奇，吳邪整理出來之後，發現是絕好小說題材，用古龍的風格來寫，必然是一本奇書，吳邪有生之年一定要把它寫出來。
　　第二個是現在開始慢慢成型的，鐵面生的故事。
　　現在你可以清晰的看到了故事的原點，山中的巨大青銅神迹和蛇沼鬼城背後的秘密，而曆史上，有兩個超越時代的人，窺得了這個秘密，一個就是戰國時代鐵面生，一個就是明初的汪藏海，從現有的資料來看，吳邪們並不知道他們之間有沒有直接的聯系，但是可以看到的是，鐵面生必然應該有更加豐富的資料，畢竟，他的時代離神話時代，十分的靠近，而從他們的墓穴中都有那種丹藥來判斷，兩個人應該是共同的地方。
　　最起碼，兩個人都將自己的經曆使用某種方式流傳了下來——戰國帛書和蛇眉銅魚。而吳邪們正是追尋著這兩個線索，逐漸揭開了這撲朔迷離的面紗。
　　在這個故事裏，吳邪一行人來到塔木托尋找西王母城。在這裏最麻煩的不是血屍或者機關，而是熱帶雨林中的蛇。生活在這裏的雞冠蛇能夠模仿人類說話，吳邪胖子不僅吃了大虧，連悶油瓶都被蛇咬了。

第一章 兜圈
到了村裏之後，因爲我們已經在外相當長時間，必須回各自的地方看看，于是我們定了計劃，胖子負責裝備的准備，而我，繼續收集資料的工作。

　　回到杭州後，我開始實行我的計劃。

　　和胖子制定計劃的時候，我還沒想明白這資料應該怎麽收集，後來細想了一下，要了解悶油瓶的身世，可能需要從正規渠道入手。之前的調查說明了道上的人對他不了解，可能在上世紀八十年代參加過考古隊，組織上應該有記錄。那個年代，參與 這種專案都要身家清白，我或許能在長沙的老檔案裏尋找到線索，至少能找到他的組織關系，進而再找到一兩個認識他的人，或者任何一點蛛絲馬迹。于是准備往這方面入手。

　　不過，城市檔案館，特別是人事檔案，都是保密的，老檔案更是沒紅頭文件拿不出來，這支考古隊是1980年代初期組 建的，還出了事情，狠可能屬于保密範疇，要看到沒那麽容易。

　　另外，要找檔案，最好的辦法是從當年派出考古隊的研究所下手，到現在不過隔了二十多年，不算太長時間，應該還 在。

　　我並不知道具體是長沙哪個研究所，不過那時候不會有現在這麽多的名目，和考古有關系的研究所可能只有一個。當 時他們大部分都是學生，那麽狠有可能又是大學裏的單位，應該不難查證。

　　幾番查找，果然如我所想，確實有一個老研究所的情況和我想的一樣，現在已經被合並了，舊址就在一所著名大學的 校園裏。

　　那大學即將搬遷，我和王盟過去的時候，外面一溜全是大大的拆字，地皮估計已經賣給了房地産公司。要是再晚幾個 月來，可能只會看到一片平地。

　　這就算是有了線索，研究所合並，檔案可能合並到新的研究所裏去了，也有狠大的可能還留在舊大學的檔案室。機關 單位我狠了解，我不是狠相信二十多年前的檔案還會有人上心。

　　不過這事兒不好打聽，我托了關系，在三叔的老關系裏繞了幾個彎兒，找到一個在研究所裏工作的人，那主兒姓杜， 名字狠有意思，叫鵑山，送了兩條中華煙，問明情況，他就說辦公都換地方了，但檔案仍在學校裏，研究所和大學還 有裙帶關系，他們狠多人都是大學裏的講師，我要想看，他可以帶我進去，除了門口不方便，裏面還是比較寬松的， 可老檔案狠難查，叫我不要抱太大的希望。

　　閑話不多說，那一晚我就去了。

　　這大學的老樓看得出來是以前的醫院改的，檔案室在大禮堂的地下一樓，有百來平方米，簡直是個倉庫，沒費什麽工 夫，我和杜鵑山順著低矮狹窄的樓道下去，下面燈都沒有，一片漆黑，用手電筒一照，全是一排一排的木頭架子，上 面都是牛皮紙包的檔案袋，厚的薄的，完整的破的，橫放的豎放的，大部分上面都有一層灰，聞起來有一股紙頭受潮 的味道。

　　杜鵑山告訴我，經常用的1995年之後的檔案已經全部搬走，剩下的都是長年累月不會動的，估計到要銷......
