轻信与背信的主题、异族通婚的主题等等。关于《奥赛罗》一剧的评论，据知早在十七世纪下半叶，英国就有人热情肯定此剧：“从诗行与剧情，特别是从剧情来看，它是一出很好的戏”，主要人物“描绘得好”；“诱惑的场面”卓越地显示了伊阿古恶人的“癖性”……对于主角奥赛罗的看法通常有两种：他是位坚强博大和灵魂高尚的英雄；其所以杀害爱妻，只是由于轻信，尤其是奸谗者伊阿古过于狡猾所致；另一种是奥赛罗并不那么高尚，而是个自我意识很强和性格有缺陷的人；他是急急不能待地就听信了伊阿古，责任在他本人。

《伊索寓言》原书名为《埃索波斯故事集成》，是古希腊民间流传的讽喻故事，经后人加工，成为现在流传的《伊索寓言》。《伊索寓言》在明朝传入我国。第一个来我国的西方传教士利马窦在中国生活期间撰《畸人十篇》，其中便介绍过伊索，对《伊索寓言》做过称引。他之后的传教士庞迪我也在《七克》中介绍、引用过《伊索寓言》。我国第一个《伊索寓言》译本是1625年西安刊印的《况义》。清代之后，出现了许多种《伊索寓言》译本。上述情况表明《伊索寓言》在我国流传之久，它至今仍令人喜闻乐见，爱不释手。是一本值得阅读的书籍。
