　　在一個荒無人煙的絕地上，到處閃著鬼異的火炬，跳動間，空氣中傳出的滋滋作響，讓人毛骨悚然。換作一般膽小之人，絕對不敢到這裏走上一遭。

　　

　　這裏即使說是地獄，也不爲過。周圍除了火的恐怖，還有冰的毒害，更有雷電的光顧，除了這些，還有那些不知道從何而來卻發了飙的風刃。

　　

　　這時被人叫做死亡絕地，表示人不能在這種環境下生存，哪怕是一些超階的神獸，也會避開這裏，另尋居住地。

　　

　　不過，今天這裏注定了有一些不一樣。一道突如奇來的黑坳洞口打開，隨著洞口的的張開，那裏周圍的一切都紛紛避開，仿佛裏面將會出現洪荒野獸，異常凶殘似的。

　　

　　只是一會，又仿似過了幾千年之久，從黑暗的洞口內，飛出一個形狀似嬰兒，卻被包裹得嚴嚴實實的，除包裹著的棉被，再也看不到其它。

　　

　　隨著包裹的出現，一聲嘤兒的啼哭聲響徹支際，在如此怪異的地方，特殊清楚。百裏開外，正有一個人慢慢奔走著，時而跳，時而飛路。看他騰空的高度與距離，好似每次都經過了計算似的。

　　

　　嬰兒的哭泣似乎引起了他的注意力。他身形一頓，眉頭稍皺，又是向前奔出。他的名字叫千元子，來到這裏，只是爲了尋找一些神奇的靈丹妙藥。

　　

　　看來，他也不想多管閑事，怕無形中中了一些狡猾魔獸的圈套。正在他想向別的地方奔馳時，挺身擰走之時，嬰兒的哭聲再次響起，並且比剛才還要洪亮，並且隱隱有著淒慘與求救，惹得千元子心神一片不甯，似乎不去看上一看，極爲不安心。于是，他虛按雲頭，站立在空中，挑眼眺望，搜索聲音的的出處。

　　

　　千元子是昆侖派近千年裏修煉不錯的一個弟子，也是當前昆侖派掌門人一元子的心愛弟子。他被收養至今，一直是派內的驕子，被衆多長老關愛著，視爲未來的昆侖派的棟梁之材。

　　

　　在剛剛不久前，千元子感應仙劫就要來，只是不知道什麽原因，時間竟然在百年之後，與許多人感應到的仙劫到來，有放大的區別。

　　

　　因爲如此，派內的長老在少數服從多數的情況下，同意出去派內的弟子，幫助千元子尋找一些藥物輔助，應對這不一樣的仙劫。這也才有他出現在這塊絕地的身影。

　　

　　爲了他的事情大家都忙開了，他的修煉也到了一定的瓶頸，需要外出尋找機緣，好早就更多的提升。事實上，尋找藥物，共派出了四撥人。當然其中能否找到一些適用的，也要看運氣的了。

　　

　　千元子一個人在派內呆了一段時間後，也獨自下山尋找靈藥了。　　　　一路往北追尋自己的師兄弟的足迹，不知不覺中，他就來了極北絕地。當他意識到這就是極北絕地時，他臉上神色一變，嘴裏喃喃的低語，也不知道他在自言自語一些什麽。

　　

　　在神色變幻數次後，千元子好似下定了決心，狠是小心的進入了極北絕地。在千元子的心底，有一個秘密。他在一次狠偶然的機會中，看到派內的前輩高人的劄記，當中記述了這樣的一段說話：

　　

　　　　極北之地，內有無數有靈性的超階生靈，入內者，生還機會渺茫。我派中將在百萬年之後，有大禍降臨，這場災難也是楓葉星球的災難。依吾推算，界時必有大福大貴之人誕生極北之地，營救楓葉星球于毀滅之中。如昆侖派百萬年後出現人丁不旺，各種災難屢見不鮮時，當是楓葉星球災劫來臨的先兆。如汝看到吾之手劄也，必是福祿濃厚，且有機緣者。故汝不妨到極北之地看看……

　　

　　　　 以下的字迹不清楚，再也難以看下去了。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　千元子看到這樣的一段話時，終日憂慮，最後抱著“甯可信其有，不可信其無”的心態姑且一試。一路往極北走去。

　　

　　　　　此時此刻，千元子異常小心，因爲這裏經常有不明的怪獸出現，曾經有不少的道人與高深的修士被殺害。修道者的強大已經違背了天命所指，壽元的增加，力量的強大，靈氣的極大的減少，這些都成了逆天中的因果之說。

　　

　　千元子知道自己已經沒有太多的時間做准備了，只能利用有限的時間，盡可能的尋找到一些有用的輔助藥材。比如九花雷葉、三針火蛇莖、冰魄果、醒心明神泉……

　　

　　如果不能找到傳說中才有的靈藥，那麽，在一百年後的飛升劫中，自己將灰飛煙滅，魂飛魄散。所以，才甘冒天大的危險到這個極北之地的險地中一搏。

　　

　　　  當然， 如果他看到的那本手劄所讓的事是真的，那麽，楓葉星球必將需要救世主出現，否則，只能走向毀滅。

　　

　　個中原因，千元子在沒有得到真實的確認時，也不敢貿然的告訴一元子，更不敢向同門的師兄弟說起。否則，別人把他當成怪物定論，再給他加上一些其它的罪名，那可糟了。

　　

　　事實上，千元子對于占卦之術，也有一定的懷疑。他雖然也有一定的造詣，不過，離那種真正的境界還是差得遠著呢？所以，他不會僅憑一紙之詞，那無中生有的信息，見人就說的。

　　

　　另外一層意思，如果他說出來，恐怕會引來更多人的恐慌，甚至提前走上毀滅這路。這只怕害人又害己，最終害了自己的師傅，自己的師兄弟了。只有找到答案，用事實上來說明，這才是最好的解釋。

　　

　　　 千元子肉眼遠眺，依希的看到百裏開外有一些不同，但是不敢相信那裏會有嬰兒能生存下來。即使有，在他的觀念中，也只有那些超變態的神獸才可能做到。

　　

　　　 正當他想放棄時，卻傳來了嬰兒哭泣聲。聲音的來源，正從一個地下的坑中傳出來。他看清楚地方，元嬰的意識宛如風長般的漲大，慢慢溢向那個坑地。

　　這時，他腦海自然出現一個嬰兒的模樣——紅粉可愛、身上穿著一件黑色的小衣，黑色的襪子，微黃色的頭發，一雙眼睛半眯著半睜開，胖乎乎的小臉蛋，特別逗人喜歡。

When William James went to the University of Edinburgh in 1901 to deliver a series of lectures on "natural religion," he defined religion as "the feelings, acts, and experiences of individual men in their solitude, so far as they apprehend themselves to stand in relation to whatever they may consider the divine." Considering religion, then, not as it is defined by--or takes place in--the churches, but as it is felt in everyday life, he undertook a project that, upon completion, stands not only as one of the most important texts on psychology ever written, not only as a vitally serious contemplation of spirituality, but for many critics one of the best works of nonfiction written in the 20th century. Reading The Varieties of Religious Experience, it is easy to see why. Applying his analytic clarity to religious accounts from a variety of sources, James elaborates a pluralistic framework in which "the divine can mean no single quality, it must mean a group of qualities, by being champions of which in alternation, different men may all find worthy missions." It's an intellectual call for serious religious tolerance--indeed, respect--the vitality of which has not diminished through the subsequent decades.

The Book of Martyrs, by John Foxe, is an apocalyptically-oriented, English Protestant account of the persecutions of Protestants, mainly in England, many of whom had died for their beliefs within the decade immediately preceding its first publication. It was first published by John Day, in 1563. Lavishly produced and illustrated with many woodcuts, when issued it was the largest publishing project undertaken in Britain up to that time. Commonly known as, "Foxe's Book of Martyrs", the work's full title begins with "Actes and Monuments of these Latter and Perillous Days, Touching Matters of the Church."
