Water Tracker (beta) (v. 1.0.7) Разработано Grant M Defayette |
Retrieve current data like water level, temperature, and stream flow from USGS servers for rivers, reservoirs, lakes and more. Features include ability to search by current location, user selected location, view graph of last 5 days activity, view data source on map, set alerts for any available condition. This application will work anywhere in the US. This application uses data from USGS servers. NOT ALL RIVERS LAKES or STREAMS will be listed. Only those that USGS monitors. To find out if the data you are interested in is available go to http://wdr.water.usgs.gov/nwisgmap/
Note that not all data is available for all locations.
This can happen because of a broken sensor or environmental
interference (ice in the water, etc). Also some stations may be entering values by hand instead of electronically so readings may be taken at irregular intervals.
Brief instructions:
1. To set location hit menu key while in the "Search" tab,
select "Location". To search for a location select "Select location" option and select state. Enter search phrase and press enter or the search key. Now wait a moment and select a location. If your location is not found try searching for a location near the one you want.
2. To set an alert first long click on a site in the search tab. Then, from the alerts tab hit menu key and select "Set new alert option". Set conditions to alert for (value above, value below, etc), set alert site, set alert variable (temp, water level aka gauge height, etc), set a value, and save alert.
3. General operation is fairly simple. There are four buttons on the bottom. These act like tabs (in future versions they should be independent screens, like setup button). From these tabs you can click on items to expand them and long click on items to get a menu for that item. The menu key brings up a different menu in each tab. The tab menu has options related to that tab.
Please email me if you have any questions about how to use the application or if you (or the application) have any problems at all. I am not spending a lot of time testing this on my own anymore since I have other projects going BUT I am fixing bugs and adding touch ups where needed. This is the time (beta stage) when I need user input. ;) Thanks for using the app and enjoy!

[2012-03-28] FileGod: Useless doesn't show a lake water levels which is what I wanted this for and one river near me has 10 times more water than the other 1 but gives reportd about the same |
[2012-02-03] Analogue Kid: Basic but good The interface is confusing at first, but it works as advertised. Things that could be improved include having it resume your previous search instead of having to resubmit every time the app is opened and making some effort at having a visually appealing interface. |
[2011-10-09] Ian: Great app, alerts disappear I really like this app and was attracted to it by the alerts function. The Only problem is that the alerts disappear when you leave the app. |
[2011-07-05] Isaac: Real nice, but I want to type in my preferred water levels.... And then save those |
[2011-05-29] Bomba: Great app . Wish the guages were real time. |
[2011-05-22] Robert: Needs surface temps for the water, and didn't seem to have complete data for many sites |
[2011-05-08] N: Wouldn't load river data (force close).. Captivate |
[2011-04-29] Daniel: River flow beta is a much nicer layout. |
[2011-03-17] Tom: Really cool app. I would like sliders, start, and stop dates for alerts. Also desired stage and the option to alert on the closest to ideal each day |
[2011-03-09] Joe: Looks Good Works Great. Especially like that it converts C° to F°. Would be nice to have a widget for the home screen that displays temperature, streamflow, gauge height and precipitation for your favorite locations. |
[2011-03-07] Ra: Great potential! Appeared to have a problem during first install and wasn't working too well on my Samsung Intercept, but upon reinstall it's working better. The UI is obviously under development and it would be nice to have long-touch option to view graphs directly from search results (currently requires saving first?), and have the option to sort by and search by gauge type. Also, graphs appear to be fixed in size, but would be nice to scale to fit screen if possible. Looking forward to future releases! |
