A magic number indicates how close a front-running team is to clinching a season title (factoring wins and rival losses).  It represents the total of additional wins by the front-running team or additional losses (or any combination thereof) by the rival team after which it is mathematically impossible for the rival team to capture the title in the remaining games.

The wildcard race is won by one A.L. and one N.L. team that have the best records, albeit without winning a division.  Typically the wildcard team plays the team with the best overall record. in the first round of the playoffs. But if those teams are in the same division, then the wildcard team will face the team with the second-best record.

Season Pass: This Schedule Widget will automatically update scores every minute when games are underway during the 2011-12 season. After this season, the clock will still work but will no longer get updates unless you buy the next season pass.

Time Zones: Schedule times are displayed based on the time zone set on your phone. When you change time zones, the scheduled times displayed in the widget will automatically adjust.

A Note on Live Scores: The scores on your clock will always be slightly behind the actual game time. Unfortunately, we can’t change the laws of physics. It takes a few seconds to enter the scores into the computer, go out to the server, come back to our server, and finally out to your phone. If you’re already watching the game live, just enjoy the game!

Important: This clock is a widget, not an app. To add the clock to your home screen, follow the installation instructions below.

Installation Instructions: After downloading: (1) go to Menu > Notifications to install; (2) tap and hold on your home screen and select Widgets to add it to your phone. Tap the widget to see the latest conference schedule, news or scores, or to change user options.

Warning: If you’re using a task killer, make sure you add the schedule widget to the exceptions list or it will kill the schedule updates.

If you're tired of having to do "team captains" every time you want to change up teams, but don't want entirely random teams either, give this app a try.

This team picker is designed for Ultimate Frisbee games.  Team player distribution is based on 7 different player skills and allows selecting which players are there before picking teams.

Skills used: height, speed, catching, throwing, defense, competitiveness, experience.

The algorithms used are quick and efficient, and produced fairly balanced teams based on the skill ratings.  It takes only a few seconds to add a player to the database, and only a few seconds more to un-select players not present.

Some advanced options are available in the Preferences, as well as turning on a more detailed explanation of the team balances after the algorithm is done selecting players.
