The Better Settlers Board Generator is for use with the offline board game Settlers of Catan. Not only does it allow for faster game setup, it generates a fair and engaging game.

We love playing Settlers. We've noticed that sometimes the game seems to be over in the first fifteen minutes--and no matter how fairly we try to distribute resources and probabilities during setup, natural bias creeps in. So we developed the Better Settlers Board Generator.

The algorithm for the generator is designed to create fair play. The result is more riveting and engaging play.

You'll have a better game of Settlers.

Please note:
- This is not a Settlers of Catan emulator, but is a companion tool intended to improve offline Settlers of Catan games.
- 6s & 8s are next to each other only if the 3rd tile is a 2 or a 12.
- For a board that follows the rules in the rulebook, please use 'Traditional' board layout.
- Network Access permission is used for Google Analytics, there are no ads or anything bad :)

The boards seem more balanced! Nobody got ahead or behind due to board bias. Made the game much more stratigical, but seems to add about half hour to our games on average because nobody pulls ahead. I will keep using it!

Incredibly Incredibly fun gameplay. I use this app on my Transformer TF300 to make setup a breeze. I lay the tablet on the table and two other players and I can get the game set up in minutes. the last game I played using this app was so fun! it lasted about an hour and a half and was incredibly balanced. there was no single spot on the board that was highly more desirable than the others. at the end of the game, all four players were a single turn away from winning, it was the most intense game I've ever played.

Generated a bad game I'd hoped we could get around unfair games using this app, but unfortunately it had the same problems as usual. In fact, since it was me who quickly got stuck, it felt much worse than usual. Dice counter was interesting, but returning to the home screen made the app force close and lose the dice data. :-(

Good and fair. An option to disable 6–8 adjacency in "Better Settlers" mode should be added. I think people would appreciate it. Also, there should be a way to rotate the board without the letter/numbers being rotated as well. This would help alot during set up.

Exactly what it says This does exactly what it says it does, which is pretty nice. Allows for VERY fair games and even shows statistical best placements, good for training your eye. I really like the fact that it keeps track of dice rolls. I would love if it could track resources as well, but that's asking for a lot.
