Shredder Chess (v. 1.2.1) Разработано shredderchess.com |
Shredder, the most successful chess program ever, is now also available for Android. You can play against Shredder, analyze with him and solve chess puzzles. It offers the usual Shredder standard for your pocket.
In addition to the outstanding playing strength of the 13 times computer chess world champion, Shredder is also able to mimic the play of a human chess player with any playing strength. He even deliberately makes typical human mistakes in those levels.
Solve 1000 built in chess puzzles. Shredder keeps track of your performance and offers advice if needed.
You can adjust Shredder’s playing strength from beginner to master level. If you like, Shredder automatically adjusts his strength to yours. He even calculates an Elo rating for you. This is how the playing strength of chess players is typically measured.
During the game a coach is watching your moves and warns you if you are about to make a mistake.
See how you are getting better and better the more games you play and the more chess puzzles you solve.

[2012-02-13] Bob: Sittulong Not quite as good as i pad version, which I guess is understandable, but the best chess app of its kind on Android. The Android version cost quite a bit more than the i-pad version for some reason, though. |
[2012-02-13] Diego: OK, but it could be better... Actually, I only point out that the coach detects not only bad moves, but also prompts the user to take back their last move even when sacrificing a piece to deliver mate. I guess this doesn't have to do with my device, since Shredder doesn't fail in deliver such a mate when adjusted to a fair ELO. It would be better if the app were updated more often, too. |
[2012-02-04] Kevin: Natural movement Seems to make moves more natural like a human. |
[2012-01-28] Francesco: Not working on ARCHOS 80 G9 UI inclomplete!! I've got an ARCHOS 80 G9, and after I purchased shredder I found out that is not possible to take back a move or analyse a game. the reason is that the UI is designed so poorly that with this new tablet display, you can't see the take back and forward buttons, that usually are on the bottom of the screen. So, I can't analyse.. I can't take back... I can't improve! |
[2012-01-27] Andy: Great app but licence check online?? I have this on ipod, ipad and now android, where it is currently the best chess app (Hiarcs for android is still being made ready, apparently) however WHY does it insist on the online licence check intermittently? After spending my six quid on the app again I find this pretty annoying as I'm usually trying to use the app when offline.... |
[2012-01-27] ddlwm: Brilliant program but DRM issue Shredder is excellent but the constant DRM issues make me wish either Shredder or Google would pull their finger out and get this sorted.. |
[2012-01-23] Attila: Fantastic Fantastic chess program with a lot of features. Top playing strength is only 2600 though and lost against my desktop that runs Critter 1.4. Still worth every penny though. |
[2012-01-22] Rodrigo: Very good, but... It needs an online check to continue working. Sometimes this online check doesnt work and I have to reinstall thw program. |
[2012-01-21] Kalonji: Poor endgame Edward, you can import pgn from clipboard. Easier than setting up board. I use chess genius to export setup, but i am sure there are alternatives. I bet copying from the text file would work. |
[2012-01-02] Matt: Would be nice if Having it show the names of the openings would be a great feature. Also having a section where you can just work on openings would be good. |
[2011-12-31] Edward: Wish there were the option to load pgn/fen strings for analysis rather than the unwieldy board setup interface. |
[2011-12-28] gideon: Good game Very thorough. Wish it had option of cleaner interface, just a minor quibble. Hopefully they will add a no-undo option on any game basis. |
[2011-12-27] Eran Levy: Annoying that it periodically checks for license Nice and strong engine. Fact that it keeps your rating and changes the level accordingly makes it even more fun to play. I'm rating this high, but for the amount it costs, I would expect more - - No 2 players mode - Explanations in the puzzles, and some strategy guide in general could be very useful - "Coach" warns you just for the most obvious terrible moves (loosing a queen). Most annoyingly for me, when starting a game it sometimes checks for license, and requires to be connected to the internet for that. I'm offline most of the time, so that means I cannot play the game till next time I'm connected. Why torturing us with this silly thing? |
[2011-12-26] gar: HTC desire awesome Boosts my rating more than I ever imagined its incredible |
[2011-12-20] Lemdog: This app is very good because it can tailor to your strength level and as you get better you can begin to see the easy mistakes you made in the past. |
[2011-12-19] Shaikat: Excellent I love the ELO rating and auto adjusted opponent strength :-) |
[2011-12-14] Hwesu: Data connection needed to play Great game, but the fact that an internet connection is required to play an offline game is ridiculous. |
[2011-12-08] Chris: Best chess game for Android I was delighted to discover that my favorite chess app was available on my new Android phone. It is the best mobile chess game period! |
[2011-12-03] Fred: Chess Worth purchasing ..... Best chess program out there. |
[2011-12-03] Richard: RANK AND FILE LABELING PLEASE!! needs rank and file labeling BADLY. Makes using the "set up position" feature a chore - I'm always backwards. |
[2011-12-01] kanailal: Excellent If comments on, I make it little. |
[2011-12-01] Anand: Great. Excellent program. |
[2011-11-24] DoodFood: brilliant! feels like a human! fantastic only thing I wish it had ability to add and manage variations while reviewing games.. apart from that, perfect! |
[2011-11-23] Alex: Rating went from 1040 to 1650+, nuff said |
[2011-11-18] foebea: Awesome! Best chess on any platform. Great! Loved it on pocket pc, love it here. Could do with some more test modes like pinning trials forks and such. |
[2011-11-17] Rocky: Update... I thought the game had glitched, but an uninstall - reinstall fixed it. Probably an issue with my local installation. Great fun game. |
[2011-11-10] Mark: Almost perfect...needs a landscape mode for tablet Almost perfect...needs a landscape mode for tablets!!!!!!! |
[2011-10-24] Dima: Ok for club player Bad on openings/endgames at higher levels. Traded from winning positions to known drawn endgames (like b+p with wrong color side pawn, or r vs. b). |
[2011-10-24] Guy: When I win games, rating decreases. When I lose games, rating increases. Crazy. Impossible. Rating calculation is messed up. Garbage!! Annoyed. |
[2011-10-09] olly: Olly Excellent game but needs to remove licence checker. Can't play on the underground now, which is why I got it in the first place. Extremely frustrating |
[2011-10-08] david: The best Chess game in the Market. I would've given it 10 stars! |
[2011-10-08] indreamer: License How come you started to check license? Now it's impossible to play in the subway :( |

[2011-09-17] DoctorManhattan: Excellent! Worth every penny |
[2011-09-07] Kawaii: Would be nice to have an opening database which tells the opening variations and names, otherwise it's fantastic. |
[2011-09-06] Cale: 1750 Great app, tons of features, great for casual games or as a learning tool |
[2011-08-23] Sean: Good but needs Features Wish it had Hot-Seat 2-Player, wish it labeled rows and columns, wish I could select and move as opposed to dragging. Beyond that it seems pretty kool |
[2011-08-19] Juan: Its in analysis mode when the program gets delayed otherwise the program is ok. Can you guys please improve the flip board switch. |
[2011-08-11] TMS Exchange: Great program, love the rating feature and the momentum indicator. Highly recommend! |
[2011-08-09] Ben: I retract my poor rating for shredder now that I know how to use my android and shredder better. Shredder ricks! |
[2011-08-09] Andrew: Can't believe I paid for this. Extremely poor UI, puzzles stuck on a clear board can't advance to next question or solve |
[2011-08-09] Merlyn: Exceptional |
[2011-08-08] mro512: Worth the money Shredder is not only a famous and strong opponent with a record, it also offers tactic puzzles. |
[2011-08-06] Surasak.Surinphong: Problem solving score drop too fast. There should be time for study the position carefully before making move. |
[2011-08-01] the 8/2/2011 : great app Really great app, super strong engine, built in opening book, infinite position analysis, easy to use, excellent customer support. Proposals: UCI engine compatibility (there are some UCI android engines without GUI), tablebase support |

[2011-07-07] P.Velavan: Nice! Excellent Engine! Seconds per move, Fixed Depth Level may be added. Shredder moves suddenly in no-time - this must be rectified. |

[2011-05-16] Alex: Fantastic! I would like landscape mode and a few openings. Can't beat above 1700 elo , below that it plays like human. My kind of human. |

[2011-04-28] Ken M: Great app. Decent engine. Many flexible features. |
[2011-04-26] Christopher: The move system is awful, keep getting wrong moves. The two tap system on the other free chess program is much less frustrating! |

[2011-04-23] Aaron : This old dog is learning new tricks. Thank you, it is an investment in my skill set. Not a purchase |

[2011-03-26] Zach: I like the look and feel, and the play seems good, but unlike Mobialia it misplaces pieces every game, making it unplayable (for me). |
[2011-03-24] Mr. Loy: Best chess app by far. |
[2011-03-24] Gary: Absolutely loved this app on my iTouch. Now using a Droid X. It freezes frequently in analysis mode and the only way out is removing the battery. |

[2011-03-02] xavierm02: Nice UI, nice AI, what else ? Just a little bug : In puzzles, pressing back several times will make Shredder move forward several times and can make the application bug. |
[2011-02-28] mtc: Shredder for Android gives me ubiquitous access to my "chess improvement" tool. Tactics and rated games help me improve and SEE the improvement. |
