Brain N-Back (v. 0.4.34) Разработано Phuc Nguyen |
Dual N-Back has been shown to improve working memory and fluid intelligence, which is crucial for academic and professional success.
This is a simple clone of Brain Workshop http://brainworkshop.sourceforge.net/ , supporting arbitrary combinations of (position, sound, color, image).
If you rate me less than 5 stars, consider leaving a comment. I've always tried to improve the app according to users' comments ^^
My message about the "auto advancement":
* It's not a convenient "feature" I invent. It's the standard game rule.
* Once you've passed 2-Back, you are ready for 3-Back. You may think you want more practice in order to 'master' it before moving on. The problem is the game only benefits when you have not 'conceptualized' things, using sheer intuition without any strategy. For more information, check this out http://goo.gl/V2vD8 . So, beginners should not even try to get familiar with Dual-2-Back by practicing Sound and Position separately :)

[2013-06-27] A Google User: Solid though it could use some more polish The customizability is great here, but the app could use some more polish - the screen mysteriously flashes on occasion, the audio feels a bit clipped, etc, leading to distraction from the exercises. |
[2013-05-28] A Google User: Disappointed I live in a large household and cannot use sound on my phone. I found this app very confusing. |
[2013-05-22] A Google User: Works really well The sounds are very easily distinguishable, works exactly as described and intended. |
[2013-05-18] A Google User: Awesome n-back clone Great n-back clone. Personally I would have loved the ability to load custom sounds, or at least have the NATO alphabet included as in the original. For those who say this is a boring and hard game, you are stupid; this is not a "game" for you to enjoy, but a tool for smarter (than you, you can't even read the description) people to improve their intelligence. |
[2013-05-09] A Google User: Thanks This is the one with the least issues so I guess it gets 5 stars although the looks aren't really on the level of excellence. |
[2013-05-01] A Google User: Almost as good as BW Only feature I miss is ability to change % on which difficulty increases. |
[2013-04-05] A Google User: good should add numbers (in addition to letters/piano) as a sound option |
[2013-03-28] A Google User: just what I wanted I've been using BrainWorkshop quite a lot on PC earlier, now with this app to continue my training I'm quite happy. A big thank you for bringing the best n-back to android. |
[2013-02-17] A Google User: Good, but not storing prefs Works fine. Best interface and voice. But prefs are not stored so I constantly have to reset. Is this fixed in the premium version? [HTC rezound]. Also, the force up to triple after a good double round is really a deal breaker for me, so I use another app. |
[2013-02-07] A Google User: Is the sound messed up or something? The letters being said sound like a chipmunk on helium... I can't even understand it. The piano tones are also very high pitched... I think there's an audio glitch, and the app is largely unusable like this. |
[2013-02-01] A Google User: Recent bug Downloaded about 6 months ago, loved it but stopped. Just came back to it and noticed that sometimes the block doesn't appear when the letter is spoken. Very distracting. Please fix. Galaxy S3 |
[2013-01-23] A Google User: Love it. I don't know if it made me smarter, but I think so. Now I'm smart! |
[2012-12-30] A Google User: Good but session length could be customizable |
[2012-12-25] A Google User: Great clone, but lacks history features Good port of n-back, but lacks the ability to see historical session data, and no multi touch. |
[2012-12-05] A Google User: Mrs Challenging |
[2012-10-21] A Google User: n back so far im on n6.. need to work more in order to achieve a 9 |
[2012-10-10] A Google User: awesome wow.. this is the best thing ever. |
[2012-09-17] A Google User: Not impressive Not impressive |
[2012-09-08] A Google User: Buggy It finds false positives and false negatives! Not reliable at all. Play dual/tri n back and focus on either sound, color or position. You can see that sometimes it counts true answers and wrong answers incorrectly. Shame on you! |
[2012-08-26] A Google User: Speed control Great job. Love the tri not yet ready for quad. Desperately need a speed control so that I can slow it down to where my mind can hang on and then increase as I progress. I have a different game that is similar, doesn't have the tri but does allow me to control the speed and the speed control really has helped me grow more rapidly with quite a bit less frustration. thank you for the app! |
[2012-08-25] A Google User: Awesome idea |
[2012-08-13] A Google User: Literally a genius overnight Literally. |
[2012-08-10] A Google User: Great Well done n-back training game |
[2012-08-03] A Google User: Thank you! Thank you very much. There so much value in this game.. THANKS |
[2012-07-27] A Google User: Please fix Tutorial crashes. |
[2012-07-11] A Google User: Thank you Philip We need more people like you on this planet, who provide such wonderful apps free of cost. Philip, you are kind. :') |
[2012-07-07] A Google User: Amazing !!!!!! Its challenging... With new features such as colors n shape, its even better ! once ur mind gets used to position sound n u need a variation, look no further .... 20 mins a day it is ! Can feel a difference in a week itself :) |
[2012-06-28] A Google User: Great app Awesome at what it does. I would like to see the "today" list was laid out a little more coherently, maybe an option to graph it. |
[2012-06-18] A Google User: McCann such an awesome app!! |
[2012-06-18] A Google User: Exactly what I wanted Now I can train my mind all the time! |
[2012-06-16] A Google User: It works! I started using brain age almost 6 months back. I got hooked to their n back game. so came back looking for some thing similar. Nback games has actually made a difference to my brain positively! can you believe that! |
[2012-06-13] A Google User: I really want to export my history detail.please implement.date with min/Max score in csv would be fine.better yet would be detail history of allplays |
[2012-06-07] A Google User: The best n back out here! This is the only n back game that is perfectly functioning! Thanks a lot to the developer! |
[2012-06-03] A Google User: Little bit boring but interesting game Ahmmm.... a little bit boring but interesting game. If you want to improve your intelligency so you have to give some input. Dual 2 back is not too difficult but dual 3 back is. Just after some practice you became habitual of it. Full N Final, I gave it 4, just 20 min a day, your intelligency will increase. :) |
[2012-05-27] A Google User: best n-back best implementation of n-back i've seen on the market. and the dev's a good guy for removing heyzap |
[2012-05-23] A Google User: From the Developer @Sammy: My apologies. I didn't know Heyzap would post ads on notification bar. I accepted to integrate Heyzap because I thought it was just about promoting the app in their social network. FYI, I earn nothing from those notification bar ads. You could have sent me an email to explain though. Anyway, it's removed now :) |
[2012-05-23] A Google User: Thanks |
[2012-05-23] A Google User: Basic goodness This app does the job cleanly and simply. Plenty of candid options too. |
[2012-05-19] A Google User: Boring hate it Dont get its the worst app ever. Dont get it Dont get it Dont get it Dont get it Dont get it Dont get it Dont get it Its c**p. |
[2012-05-02] A Google User: Remove Heyzapp Heyzapp is an annoyance. |
[2012-04-23] A Google User: Ideea to make full use of piano feature I want to play "sound" using piano. But I do not distinguish musical note. It would be a great feature to have option to display musical sign when sound is played. This can help player to make progress after learn to distinguish musical notes played. |
[2012-04-22] A Google User: Good so far, needs better feedback Good so far, enjoying trying it out to see how it feels! Harder than I thought it would be (or I'm dumber than I thought I was...) The feedback you get when you complete a trial isn't very clear. A:5-2 L:4-5 takes some deciphering. Also, the indication that you've gotten bumped up or down a level needs to be more prominent, since it totally changes the game you're playing. Not seeing the toast or the title of the dialog means 0% on the next round. |
[2012-04-19] A Google User: Works great Very much like the desktop version I've used on my Linux box for a year or more. It's easy to use but doing it diligently feels like a serious workout for the brain! |
[2012-04-12] A Google User: 3 stars because it's free Pros: ------------------------ 1. It's the only free game dedicated to to n-back 2. you can play a BIG variety of n-back games. One set of options lets you choose: Dual back, Tri back, Quad back. Work on memory based on shapes, positioning, color, and sounds (see cons). You can combine any of these together as well. Select them all if you want :) Cons: ------------------------ 1. If you need to work on your auditory memory (like me), this feature isn't very good. The piano sounds are indistinguishable form one another. There should be electric piano and a variety. The other audio option is the alphabet. If you already have a good auditory memory, then this is probably a good option. But when I hear the letter "L" for example, I see a picture of the letter "L" in my head (which I can't control). Using this feature combined with any visual exercises will not work for me. 2. Figuring out how the game options work is a memory game in of itself. Options not available should be dimmed out. 3. Visually unappealing. A game that is working to improve visual memory doesn't need to look so bland. Add bevels like you did with this apps icon. |
[2012-04-10] A Google User: Long term, brilliant: best available Would like a way of monitoring progress on 20 sessions a day. Solid and pleasant. HTC Wildfire. |
[2012-03-27] A Google User: Well done implementation, nice work ! |
[2012-03-22] A Google User: Best on android The best nback implementation on Android! |
[2012-03-21] A Google User: Button signals NOTE FOR UPDATE: When you miss a sound or position, the button for either or should light up blue to indicate a miss. Just like Brain Workshop. That would be really cool! Awesome work! |
[2012-03-06] A Google User: Good Will be even better if there is an option to alter speed |
[2012-02-22] A Google User: Finally on Android Used on desktop. Looks and feels the same. Thanks. |
[2012-02-06] A Google User: Works well Minus one star for the background running. And here is the score meaning: Audio: (#correct) - (#incorrect) Location: (#correct) - (#incorrect) The percentage is #correct/#total. |
[2012-02-04] A Google User: Pretty good 4 stars because it auto-runs in the background. There is no need for it to do that. |
[2012-01-28] A Google User: Thanks Great |
[2012-01-24] A Google User: Good but obscureo This is the best nback ive found for android. But I don't understand the scores at the end "A:1-3,L:2-4" (or something like that). The instructions don't say; what does it mean? (aside from the obvious, that i'm lousy at this game). |
[2011-12-27] A Google User: Perfect Just what I was looking for and the price was great. Thanks for all the hard work. |
[2011-12-12] A Google User: V good Thanks, Dev. Great job. Looks professional, works fine. Can feel those brain cells growing... |
[2011-12-07] A Google User: The best brain training app From all the different n-back apps it is the most useful and nicest. |
[2011-11-23] A Google User: Really nice This app does exactly what it set out to do. It's very reliable and I use it so much that I bought the paid version without the annoying ads. |
[2011-11-23] A Google User: Nice Nice graphs |
[2011-11-11] A Google User: very nice |
[2011-11-02] A Google User: Nice, but needs manual reset I miss is the ability to manually reset to 2-back. E.g. if I trained at 00:10, I don't want to start the next session at 23:50 from 4-back. |
[2011-10-27] A Google User: Great game Only improvement I can think of is the option to start on single n-back |
[2011-10-25] A Google User: Empowering!!! |
[2011-10-19] A Google User: . good app,but not available in China |
[2011-10-09] A Google User: works! Have had life-altering cognitive difficulty because of Celiac disease. Short-term memory is noticeably better after playing. |
[2011-10-02] A Google User: epic you need to toggle manual to switch for dual 3 back. thanks so much anyway |
[2011-09-19] A Google User: Good implementation Please fix input for multitouch |
[2011-09-06] A Google User: Wonderful Thank you! |
[2011-08-31] A Google User: Thanks ... but Love the app, but why must it remain loaded in my phone's memory all the time? I would prefer if it would terminate when not in use. |
[2011-08-28] A Google User: Exemplary Outstanding execution and faithfulness to original study. Best option yet for working memory training on android. |
[2011-08-15] A Google User: Great work. Excellent app. It does everything I need. |
[2011-08-10] fkberthold: Excellent app. Being able to set the start point (so it starts at 4-back instead of 2 for example) would make it a 5 star. |
[2011-08-10] Phuc: From the Developer @fkberthold: Hi. That option is in the Preferences screen. Or do I get you wrong? :D |
[2011-08-07] A Google User: Solid app Great app, never had an issue with it, offers some great progress statistics, every core feature, and rock solid since it hasn't crashed ever. A few features I would love to have though include more detailed progress ( i.e. the ability to review individual days), ability to export progress natively, and setting the number of sessions to be completed (i.e. 20 a day, not just an infinite number of trails). |

[2011-07-15] A Google User: It was hard for me to grasp how to play the game, and even when I did I continued to have trouble. A visual tutorial would have been great! |

[2011-07-04] A Google User: It is very good but I need ads removed. I don't like training my brain with product placement. I would pay a couple dollars to remove ads. 5 otherwise |

[2011-06-27] A Google User: This app is better than quazars over all but quazars is more payable due to the darker back round. This all is just too hard on my eyes. |

[2011-06-16] A Google User: I hate this app it makes me even more mad that it won't uninstall from my phone |
