Tilt Arena (v. 1.3)

Tilt Arena is a retro arena shooter (think Geometry Wars!) with sleek vector graphics and a zero button control scheme designed to get your fingers out of the way: just tilt!

Game mode: Survival
All about having a ton of weapons, using them to blow stuff up spectacularly, and changing them often. Grabbing weapon pickups increases the score multiplier so don't get too attached to one.

Note: The permission to access identity and phone calls is for Scoreloop's online leaderboard. That system is changing soon so this (overly scary) permission is thankfully temporary.

Controls suck I tried to make this game work, I really did, but the contro, method failed completely. You would think that tilting your device would actually move your craft in that direction, but that is not the case. Even in touch control mode the game was utterly unplayable. I sense this game would have been good had I been able to play it, but alas, no.

Very challenging. Excellent game, the one thing that would be nice to have is indipendant move/shoot controls. I also like that when you hit play, it saves your phones orientation as level, so its not awkward.

Has potential.... Lacks gameplay The game looks great, its visually all there... But the mechanics are wayyy out of wack. You barely tilt your screen and your fighter starts going in all directions and you're bound to crash into an enemy within 5 seconds. Save yourself time, folks. Don't download.

Hearkens back to the classic coin-op shooters Once again, simplicity wins over complexity, in Tilt Arena. Your ship automatically fires as you tilt your phone to fly around the enclosed battlefield. Picking up yellow boxes upgrades your mode of fire, as the number and types of enemies that fly at you increase in both number and ferocity. You're given three lives to rack up as high as score as possible, and the action doesn't slack off between your ship respawning. It's great, nail-biting action from start to finish, and you'll love the fact that you don't have to pump in quarters after you're done. The only gripe I have with the game is that there's no option to calibrate the tilt; I didn't always feel as though I had enough fine tuned control as I'd have liked. But don't let this stop you from downloading this great game; get it today and relive your arcade days! -- via Best Apps Market

Decent This game would be phenomenal if the weapon powerups were revised. Often you will pick up a weapon only for it to be much worse than the one you just lost. They seem to upgrade randomly, to the point where the player is much better off to get a good weapon and then ignore all other powerups. This isn't how these sorts of games are meant to be played!

Not Geometry Wars But that's not a bad thing. There is a slight learning curve with learning weapon powerups and getting used to the tilt (which is better than the touch controls IMO), but once you get your feet on the ground it hooks you. Also the points to unlock powerups is also a great add to replay value. This one is a keeper.

Failed Galaxy Wars clone. Utter crap. Controls are awefull, both tilt and touch. Weapons get changed randomly when you pick up a score multiplier and only about 2 are good. Upgrades are a joke, 1 million points for rockets?!?!

OK but not great Good game but two issues detract from the play: First is being unable to explicitly set "play angle" to top-down (or others). The second problem is that the tilt amount does not affect acceleration, so the ship is less responsive than it could be.

Great game with 1 flaw Very addictive game, nice control and variety of weapons and enemies.. But one thing that's annoying is the fact that there's no resume functionality. One message(or any other type of interrupt) and the game is lost.

Simple controls a limiting factor The level design is very true to its retro past. However, tilt controls just don't offer the maneuverability and accuracy necessary to play a game of this type and the touch controls are horribly implemented and to be honest, after 5 minutes I'm still not sure exactly how they work.
