In side scrolling mode, G.I.R-Type is a scrolling space shooter set in a mathematically generated world. With randomized terrain to maneuver around, dangerous asteroids, and unpredictable power-up capsules, the goal is to make it as far as you can before your eventual demise.
In the new 3D mode, the game becomes a three dimensional game of asteroids in a race against time. Shoot, dip, dodge and barrel-roll your way to safety while attempting to blast the rocks from your path.
