Stellar port from the original arcade version Touch controls grant more precision moves but the buttons on the left side seem out of place. Also, this game tends to lag a lot especially on high bullet sections even with rendering skip on, with the use of hibachi in smartphone mode making lag more pronounced. (It runs with varying performance: splendidly on AOSP ROMs but horribly on OEM skinned android versions.) Nonetheless, it's great to see a dodonpachi title in the play store. Here's to eagerly waiting for more titles of this franchise.

Frustratingly intrusive social integration Pros: Fun, challenging gameplay, Good replayability (multiple ships and modes), Runs like a dream on my N7' Cons: Social interface is forced upon the user, The soft buttons added for the touch controls are ugly--no effort was made to integrate them into the games original HUD so they look really out-of-place. I will give this game 5 stars if they remove the social interface. When I open an app, I expect to see THE APP not a no-name social interface. This social interface is destined to suffer the same fate as Openfeint. Let's get rid of it now so that the game isn't crippled when that happens.

Absolutely glorious If your device is supported and dies not get errors upon launching, but this game immediately. Best shmup on the play store. An absolute blast to play. Features lots of replay ability and many options of game play to choose from. Not to mention it is a very well refined game overall and plays beautifully on my Nexus 4. Worth the 7.99.

Excellent port To all arcade lovers turn off rendering skip in options of game and if you can change CPU settings to performance. Will still get slight slowdown at high bullet parts I play on hard though so may be less at normal. More faithful to arcade. Good old Shooters The game runs great on the Sprint LG Optimus G. Clean, smooth and no slowdown. Runs really good on my HTC Flyer w/froyo 2.3 but, had to buy the game first for the Flyer to see it. 2 stars due to not compatible with Lenovo A2109 tablet.

So bummed...FIXED! One of my favorite games to date. I've owned rights since this was released on iOS and have since jumped to Android. This works great on my Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 but is incompatible with a Nexus 7? Who's dropping the ball with this? I'll change my rating when this issue is resolved. UPDATE - Within days of having given my review, this issue was resolved! Five stars and still as addicting as the first time.

Excellent Port I just cleared the first loop yesterday, and as far as I can tell there's no difference between Arcade mode in this port and the Xbox 360 port (aside from the obvious things like auto-shot). Yes, the GGee interface is annoying, but you don't have to sign up or anything to play the game.

Great shmup Was so glad to find this in the play store! Minus one star for the gee gee inclusion. Dodonpachi daioujuo is one of my favorite games of all time and I've spent countless hours playing it. Cave makes the best shmups IMO and so far this one is on par with my old favorite. I'm surprised how good the touch screen controls work out. I just hope cave will make more of these for android. Oh, and for those that mention lag. It's not lag it's part of the game! It's supposed to slow down!

Was able to buy but not play Game looked very fun and I was slightly nostalgic. Decided to buy it and that was a mistake. Bought the game and whenever I open it up the screen goes completely black. Black screen This game used to work fine, then just stopped. Now when I try to play I get a black screen with the social icon displayed in the upper left. If I touch the screen, the game pops up for a few moments before turning black again. I originally gave the game 5 stars because it is a lot of fun, but if I can't play it, then there is no fun. Yayeeeah This game is the FIRE! If you're looking for the real-deal arcade quality vertical shooter this is it. The only other one of this quality for smartphones/ tablets is Air Attack HD. Super intense, crazy weapons, animated bosses plus the voice-over actress sounds just like the Chinpokomon Japanese lady from South Park! Runs perfect on Droid X2

Abandon the g gee crap. The game does not display on my phone properly it have double image on the top & botton of the screen most of the time & I am using sony xperia ray which have a small screen. Been played on the IOS version compare to the android version which is alot better with no problem. Disgusted I am a 40 year old man that want to play a game in the series I grew up with. the game is as good as ever. What I am disgusted about is upon purchase you are forced to open the game from a social network hub that is clearly aimed at young children , this makes me as an adult feel uncomfortable. It is asking for trouble as this game is. Retro game for older men that the site forces you to interact with minors. This game needs pulling from google immediately. It's open to massive abuse and needs a watchdog

Great port. The GMO wrapper isn't bad enough to detract from the game. Only issue is that the game sometimes hangs if RAM fills up. Otherwise a great port, will buy more Cave releases without hesitation. And to the guy who doesn't get the Smartphone mechanic, you're supposed to graze a high multiplier in Menace then max out Slaughter before it ticks down for huge bonuses.

Very good controls Having played dodonpachi on a stick, 360, and keyboard, I can say that playing it with one finger on a phone gives you the most fine controls. The reviewer who says he gets slow down on his S3 is wrong. The game slows down when there are more projectiles on screen to make it fair and give you time to dodge. The game is very forgiving for newbies so don't be intimidated by how insane it looks. You can use practice mode and "strong" mode which combines the advantages of "power" and "bomb" mode with none of the disadvantages until you get used to the levels. I would say that this game is definitely worth the $6. Nothing holds you back from playing over and over again to achieve perfection. However, Leaderboards do not work. Leaderboards only support full game clear variations, so being good at only 4/5 stages will not really reward you with a good ranking or give you a good picture of how you're progressing. Smartphone mode is counter-intuitive. It "handicaps" towards S mode the more you kill but lowering your score. Scraping by projectiles weakens your shot but raises your multiplier. But your goal should be to kill before the enemy's able to shoot, so what's the point?

Great port, but a bit broken in spots This is an excellent port. However, it has a horrible social networking app tacked on that you cant remove. On it, everyone speaks in nonsensical gibberish. Posting your high scores to get a worldwide rank is a good idea, but unlike EspGaluda, it doesnt work. It always says SEND DATA ERROR. This has been broken since I got the game a week ago. Ditch the worthless G-gee software and fix the score uploader and this game deserves five stars.

Game is great, GGEE integration and DRM let's it down The game works flawlessly on my Galaxy Nexus, however the game appears to have DRM which stopped it working on my Asus Transformer Tablet. I managed to get it working on that by backing up my data from the phone with titanium backup and restoring the backup on my tablet. The forced social integration is horrible too. Makes the game feel cheap when its actually a really great port. Over all though the most fun mobile game I have played in a long time.

Won't work. Will not download large file on WiFi. Keeps saying check network and won't authorize. Will only authorize when connected on via tower3g or 4lte Then it asks if I want to download on WiFi or 3g. But if I change to WiFi, it times out and says authorize failed check network. Cave delivers once again. As most fans of shmups know Cave is best known for these types of games (danmaku, shmups, whatever you want to call them) and boy are they good at it! I saw their announcement and didn't hesitate to get this because anything coming from them is quality stuff. I had no issues running this on my phone (Bionic) or even on my Nexus 7 tablet (although that's technically not supported). There wasn't any lag and the controls were responsive. The only thing I wasn't happy to see was that they stuck with that horrible G-Gee wrapper on the game which you have to wade through before you can play and it shows overlays during the title screen of the game too. I understand they wanted it for the leaderboard most likely but c'mon. You can do MUCH better than them. Still, something as lame as G-Gee couldn't take away my joy from having this finally on the Android platform in this country/market. Thank you to all the amazing developers who worked on this!
