In a small hospital wing is house number 6 for the mentally ill. In the House live five people, among them fool Moiseyka and former bailiff, Ivan Dmitrievich Gromov. After describing patients author introduces us to Dr. Andrew Efimychev Ragin. When he took office, the hospital was in terrible condition. Hard-core poverty, unsanitary conditions. Ragin took it calmly. He's smart and honest man, but he does not have the will and belief in their right to change lives for the better. Initially, he worked hard, but soon begins to miss and realizes that in such circumstances is meaningless to treat patients. From these arguments casts Ragin case and goes to the hospital is not every day. With a little work, more for appearance, he goes home and reads. Every half-hour drinking a glass of vodka and eating pickles or pickled apples. Then dinner and drinks beer. By evening, usually comes postmaster Michael Averyanitch. The doctor and postmaster are meaningless talk and complain about the future. When the guest leaves, Ragin continues reading. He reads everything, paying half the salary for the books, most of all loves philosophy and history. Reading, feels happy.

"The Little Mermaid" (Danish: Den lille havfrue) is a fairy tale by the Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen about a young mermaid willing to give up her life in the sea and her identity as a mermaid to gain a human soul and the love of a human prince.

The Snow Queen (Danish: Sneedronningen) is a fairy tale by author Hans Christian Andersen (1805–1875). The tale was first published in 1845, and centers on the struggle between good and evil as experienced by a little boy and girl, Kai and Gerda.

The story is one of Andersen's longest and is considered by scholars, critics, and readers alike as one of his best. It is regularly included in selected tales and collections of his work as well as being frequently reprinted in illustrated storybook editions for children. The tale has been adapted in various media including animated film and television drama.

The Bible (from Greek τὰ βιβλία ta biblia "the books") is the collections of the primary religious texts of Judaism and Christianity. There is no single Bible, as the individual books (Biblical canon), their contents and their order vary between denominations. Mainstream Judaism divides the Tanakh into 24 books, while a minority stream of Judaism, the Samaritans, accepts only five. The 24 texts of the Hebrew Bible are divided into 39 books in Christian Old Testaments, and complete Christian Bibles range from the 66 books of the Protestant canon to the 81 books in the Ethiopian Orthodox Bible.

The Jewish Bible, or Tanakh, is divided into three parts: (1) the five books of the Torah ("teaching" or "law") comprise the origins of the Israelite nation, its laws and its covenant with the God of Israel; (2) the Nevi'im ("prophets") containing the historic account of ancient Israel and Judah plus works of prophecy; and (3) the Ketuvim ("writings"), poetic and philosophical works such as the Psalms and the Book of Job.

On February 7, 2011, the President of the Russian Federation signed the new Federal Law on Police. The Law, which was proposed by the President last year, entered into force on March 1, 2011. It appears that the main novelty of the Law is the renaming of the law enforcement force from the current “militia” to “police.” While the new Law specifies that as of March 1, 2011, new police officers will be required to introduce themselves as police when interacting with citizens and to have name tags displayed on a newly designed uniform, the nature of the force remains the same.Rules on the conduct of police services are not defined by this Law and will be outlined in ministerial acts, to be adopted in future.

The new law sets out the rights and obligations of Interior Ministry personnel essential for ensuring the police force’s proper and efficient work and preventing unjustified misuse of police powers. The law also frees the police from duplicating other agencies’ responsibilities and performing duties not properly part of their work, and reinforces a partnership model of relations between society and the law enforcement agencies.

Пушкин с семьёй генерала Раевского посещал Ханский дворец в Бахчисарае 7 сентября 1820 года. В его письме к Дельвигу есть описание посещения дворца.

«В Бахчисарай приехал я больной. Я прежде слыхал о странном памятнике влюбленного хана. К ** поэтически описывала мне его, называя la fontaine des larmes. Вошед во дворец, увидел я испорченный фонтан; из заржавой железной трубки по каплям падала вода. Я обошел дворец с большой досадою на небрежение, в котором он истлевает, и на полуевропейские переделки некоторых комнат. NN почти насильно повел меня по ветхой лестнице в развалины гарема и на ханское кладбище.»

Поэма «Бахчисарайский Фонтан» была начата весной 1821 года. Основная часть поэмы написана в течение 1822 года. В 1823 году набрасывались проекты вступления. Осенью 1823 года поэма получила окончательную отделку и была подготовлена к печати. Первое издание поэмы «Бахчисарайский Фонтан» вышло из печати 10 марта 1824 года.

«Сказка о рыбаке и рыбке» — сказка Александра Сергеевича Пушкина. Написана 14 октября 1833 года. Впервые напечатана в 1835 году в журнале «Библиотека для чтения»[1]. В рукописи есть помета: «18 песнь сербская». Эта помета означает, что Пушкин собирался включить ее в состав «Песен западных славян». С этим циклом сближает сказку и стихотворный размер.

Сюжет

Старик с женой живут у моря. Старик добывает пропитание рыбной ловлей и однажды в его сети попадается необычная золотая рыбка, способная говорить человеческим языком. Рыбка молит отпустить ее в море и старик отпускает её, не прося награды. Возвратившись домой, он рассказывает о произошедшем жене. Она называет его дурачиной и простофилей, но требует, чтобы он вернулся к морю, позвал рыбку и потребовал награду, хотя бы новое корыто. Старик зовёт рыбку у моря, она появляется и обещает исполнить его желание, говоря: «Ступай себе с Богом». Возвратившись домой, он видит у жены новое корыто. Однако «аппетиты» старухи все возрастают — она заставляет мужа возвращаться к рыбке снова и снова, требуя (для себя) все новых и новых наград. Море, к которому подходит старик, каждый раз изменяется от спокойного ко все более взволнованному, а под конец — штормящему. В определенный момент старуха демонстрирует презрение к супругу, который является источником ее успехов и требует, чтобы рыбка сделала ее «владычицей морскою», причем сама рыбка должна была бы служить у нее «на посылках». Рыбка не отвечает на просьбу старика, а когда он возвращается домой, то видит старуху, лишенную всего дарованного, сидящую у старого разбитого корыта.

В русскую культуру вошла поговорка «остаться у разбитого корыта» — остаться ни с чем.
