Yellow Button is a community reporting and information sharing app for residents working or living in Arlington County, VA. It has yellow buttons built for quick swipe and tap reporting on the go. For example, a driver sitting in the traffic on Arlington Blvd can swipe and tap the yellow 'Traffic Jam' button to share the information with other drivers. A user who just lost electricity can report and check the extent of utility outage using the 'Utility Outage' button. Yellow Button users can check the status of Metro rail lines, buses, Arlington Transit buses and report service delay they experienced. Through Yellow Button, we call for residents of Arlington to help your community better informed and connected.
Yellow Button is developed under the joint partnership of Virginia Tech and IBM Research as part of the Center for Community Security and Resiliency to create a living lab in Arlington County, VA for exploring new research for enhancing the awareness and resilience of urban communities during normal times and in periods of crisis.
