[2012-03-05] Logan: Lacks information It has a great data base of words but it lacks sitational information, example, word usage, and origin. If they were to add this info under each word searched it would make it the perfect dictionary and translator utility. |

[2012-03-03] Jane: Great app We just took a trip to Chile and found it very helpful and easy to use; no Wi-Fi needed. I didn't discover until we got back that there was audio with the phrases. Only criticism is that the conjugation section requires a two step process: look up the word in Spanish then switch to the conjugate section and enter it there. I understand that it's been corrected for the iPhone and is coming soon to Android. Bottom line it is a great app for a great price. |

[2012-01-27] Donnie: Incredibly Useful! My wife is from Mexico and most of my in-laws don't speak english. I do know some Spanish but this, comes in handy when speaking with them. There have been phrases that I didn't even expect to find in there. It's a great and handy application. |

[2011-12-10] Pablo Halpern: Limited phrase book Not bad. I chose this application because its dictionary and phrase book can be used offline. (I'm not paying for International 3G access, and I don't know how often I'll have WiFi access when I'm traveling.) The phase book part of the application is organized by categories but is not searchable. The number of phrases is also very limited -- perhaps 100 phrases organized into 10 categories. The English/Spanish dictionary is more extensive but has one design flaw: When you search for an English word to get the Spanish translation, there is no way to get it to SPEAK the Spanish words. If you tap on the speaker icon, it speaks the English word. Similarly for the Spanish-to-English lookup. Useful if you want to get the pronunciation and definition of a written Spanish word, not so useful if you want to translate a word from English and speak it in Spanish. The online-only text translation tool uses your choice of Google Translate or Bing Translate and works nicely. Google Translate is no longer free and Bing will no longer be free as of (I think) March 2012, so keep that in mind. I'm happy I got this app on sale for only $1.99. Not sure if I'd pay the list $9.99 for it, though. |
