Osmand+ (OSM Automated Navigation Directions)
Osmand+ is an open source navigation application with access to a wide variety of global open street map data. All map data (vector or tile maps) can be stored on the phone memory card for offline usage. Osmand also offers offline and online routing functionality including voice guidance.
Osmand+ is the paid application version, by buying it you support the project, fund the development of new features, and receive the latest updates.
Some of the core features:
- Complete offline functionality (store downloaded vector or tile maps in a selectable folder)
- Compact offline vector maps for the whole world available
- Unlimited downloading of country or region maps directly from the app
- Offline Wikipedia feature (download Wikipedia POIs), great for sightseeing
- Overlay of several map layers possible, like GPX or navigation tracks, Points of Interest, favorites, contour lines, public transportation stops, additional maps with customizable transparency
- Offline search for addresses and places (POIs)
- Offline routing for short distances (experimental)
- Car, bicycle, and pedestrian modes with:

[2012-12-28] A Google User: Very good navigator This has got a lot better since they added the option to find non optimal routes on long distances. It can also work entirely offline which is great for navigating in low signal areas. Good choice of renders for the maps, detail as you want. Very customizable with the navigation modes. |

I honor you!!, from the average, but good, offroad applications, now you've done a miracle (from version 1.0) - a fantastic full featured navigation application that can be used for navigation in the car, but also for excursions to nature - walking, hiking and so...! Best money spent so far! |

[2012-12-21] A Google User: Keeps getting better! Previous review gave this app 5 stars, and I'm keeping that score for this version (1.1.0). I only want to add that the constant improvements prove that this is still a fantastic product. I especially like the measuring tool (enable under Plugin Manager) and the speed and clarity on both my TF700. Well done to the devs. |

[2012-12-21] A Google User: Bad choice of color for navigation route line. Navigation line alternates between blue and orange, depending on light sensor. Unfortunately, both colors are used for many major roads too. Making them disappear, depending on light sensor. Which makes it hard to follow the route at times. Why not use something like a thick broken line? Or maybe some bright shade of green? The route line needs to be very distinct and easily visible at all times to be effective. |
