MX Mariner - Marine Charts (v. 1.3.23) Разработано Will Kamp |
MX Mariner is a basic mobile marine navigator / chart plotter featuring quilted offline marine charts.
All raster marine charts published by NOAA (USA), LINZ (New Zealand) and Brazil Navy are available to install from within MX Mariner as downloadable regions. Each marine chart region download contains all the available charts for it's particular region. Once downloaded, each marine chart region is available for use offline. When online, a road map or satellite image map is alternatively available. Please see http://mxmariner.com/charts for more details on offline marine chart regions available for download.
MX Mariner is useful for marine navigation featuring a simple heads up display showing speed and course. You have the ability to drop waypoints, record tracks and create routes. Routes can be activated and the heads up display will also show bearing and range to next waypoint below speed and course. All waypoints, tracks and routes can be backed up as GPX files. GPX files can be imported and exported to other programs.
MX Mariner also has configurable units of measure for bearings, position, speed and distance. Bearings in MX Mariner can be shown as true or magnetic. Magnetic bearings use the world magnetic model published National Geospacial Intelligence Agency. Speed and distances can be set to Nautical, Statute or Metrix. Position can be set to degrees, degrees-minutes or degrees-minutes-seconds.
MX Mariner also offers a solid set of features useful for marine navigation. There are configurable back-light levels suitable for daylight to off-shore night conditions. Navigators can choose to use their device internal magnetometer or gps course to orientate ship on the marine chart. Optionally, heading and course predictor lines can also be shown on the marine chart.
[2012-12-28] A Google User: Best app on my Nexus 7 I originally purchased this app for a droid x in which it ran well but the GPS was a battery killer. I have dumped that old phone and loaded this app on my Nexus 7. I don't believe I could have a better combo shy of buying a 2 grand chartplotter. The functionality keeps growing with every update. I have a gpx file I constantly update. I am up to over 480 waypoints in the panhandle fl area. This app for me has been dead accurate within feet of wrecks. I carry my nexus 7 onboard in a water proof case |

[2012-12-23] A Google User: Keeps getting better Updating my review because I think the developer really deserves a lot of credit for this app. Features are regularly added and improved. Works great on my Motorola Photon. Free chart downloads. Highly recommended. |
[2012-12-19] A Google User: Mx mariner Heap of rubbish I bought it it new I was from UK but no UK charts. What a waste of money |
[2012-11-27] A Google User: For the price ? very good for sure there are improvements possible, and the developer list many on its site. But for the price, this is a very good piece of software. Useful as a second source of info in a sailboat and to work next day route. would buy again any time. and now waiting for the next improvements... |
[2012-11-22] A Google User: Doesn't give enough detail |
[2012-11-04] A Google User: Great job Will Anxiously await each update |
[2012-11-04] A Google User: Bull Kinda cool but when upgraded it erased all my info bad deal gonna take me hours to fix and some info is unreplaceable even erased maps |
[2012-10-23] A Google User: Great value! Not very intuitive though... |

[2012-10-01] A Google User: Works well for my use I use it in the Chesapeake and works great sailing. |
[2012-09-30] A Google User: Tug boat captain Works as well as 1,500 $ programas for pc/desk tops. Im a u.s. Merchant mariner Office, and thrild about this app. |
[2012-09-30] A Google User: Non boaters can use it My wife was able to use it And she's really not a boater |
[2012-09-26] A Google User: A Great Solution for PC Tablet, Strong Competion Many of my friends have the "classic" chart plotters solutions. These solutions have technology short falls (poor chart definition, small displays, and charts that are not current). One friend tells me he would need to spend about $2,000 dollars to rectify these short falls. When he saw what Mx Mariner could do he was convince this was a better way to go. With the use of a well featured PC tablet the entire chart-plotter solution can be accomplished with just the PC tablet, no other hardware, power supply or GPS device are necessary. I purchased a 10" 4:3 display ratio PC tablet. The high definition display is marvelous. Fully portable, I can setup the PC tablet with Mx Mariner anywhere on my boat (upper or lower stations) or take it with me to help a friend move his boat. My buddy quickly became convince that what he had was past a useful life and is now switch to Mx Mariner with the same PC tablet. A final note, if you go this route, make a hood for the display to eliminate direct sunlight. |

[2012-09-19] A Google User: nice very nice app!but my problem is...i cant used it,because no chart region for phillippines,i hope someone can help me where can i download it,thanks! |
[2012-09-14] A Google User: Very nice product It works really well. I orignally cannot get the charts of the Boston region and give it a low rating. After I manually switch to Region_02 maps. It works quite nicely. The author of this app was very responsive and give a point-on answer to the question I had. Super nice customer service. Highly recommended. |
[2012-09-07] A Google User: Awsome Thoughy I would try this instead of buying a expensive GPS system works great no need for all the other crap does everything it needs to do |
[2012-09-06] A Google User: Bad resolution Chart is very bad resolution |
[2012-09-06] A Google User: Saved my bacon when I had to confirm position! Great software - compliments physical charts and looks great on phone and tablet. I like this better than Marine&Lakes: USA and it installs on devices that the competition won't install on! Feature Suggestion: would be great to have a 'location' button giving a large lat/long, heading, and maybe speed reading. I was using the software and a fellow boater asked my location and this feature would have been useful instead of digging around to find info. |
[2012-09-03] A Google User: Yes! What I needed, but ... the "NOAA" charting for my region (30) is incredibly innaccurate in depth soundings. Where did these charts come from? Otherwise this app excels ... "off-line" GPS reality. |
[2012-08-30] A Google User: See comment Downloaded this application today, Then found out there no maps for Lake Champlain? There should be a list of Maps/Lakes somewhere so the person paying for it, knows for sure what they're getting! I gave the APP 1 star because of this. In reality looking at the rest of the APP it should receive a much higher rating. I should get a refund or someone should write an update to get me Lake Champlain? |
[2012-08-30] A Google User: Great Nav Tool Asus Transformer TF101 Just spent a week sailing down east in Maine using MX Mariner as the primary electronic navigation tool. Having access to all of NOAA's charts offline on a tablet is huge. Easy and intuitive route planning and all you really need underway. Sure there's no XTE or VMG, but we're cruising not racing and it's not tied into other electronics. COG, SOG, RNG, and BRG could be larger but I'm on a tablet and understand that there's less real estate on a phone. I generally use Coastal Explorer 2011 on a laptop and this is a terrific addition in a less bulky and less expensive format. Love it! |
[2012-08-26] A Google User: It's perfect! I used MX Mariner tonight using a route to get home. It worked perfectly automatically advancing from one Waypoint to the next. Program is great how it can download a whole region at a time and switch to a local map as you zoom. It would be great if I could "activate" or navigate to a Waypoint like I can with a route. |
[2012-08-26] A Google User: Nice Backup GPS I've used this on Puget Sound and in the San Juan Islands. It works great. Just having the ability to review the charts on my phone, alone, is worth the price. That feature is much easier to use than trying to do the same thing on my Garmin handheld. It is a great back up to a hand held GPS at a small fraction of the price. |
[2012-08-25] A Google User: Very good Worked great sailing in the keys. |
[2012-08-24] A Google User: Can't use in Australia Don't have Australia chart. Wast of money |
[2012-08-16] A Google User: Smart App This App makes my phone worth owning... I am able to plug in a HDMI cord and display the chart on my 22 inch flatscreen tv and it looks and works great. Thanks Will keep up the great work... Route option is absolutely awesome. |
[2012-08-13] A Google User: Max mariner Got me thru the Erie and Cayuga - Seneca canals! Showed all the buoy numbers and locks. |
[2012-08-09] A Google User: OUTSTANDING... This is just the nav app I was seeking. It grabs charts on it's own, unlike other apps, overlapping charts, VERY intuitive. You're gonna like it. |
[2012-08-07] A Google User: Maps Is there no other maps for Northern Ireland? Downloaded this application today, then noticed there's only 3 country map choices!? |
[2012-08-05] A Google User: Brilliant app Excellent, simple tool for navigation. V. good for sitting on the rail for a quick fix. I found it perfect for offshore and near coastal racing. Well worth the investment... |
[2012-08-01] A Google User: Good - with a couple of glitches Excellent, simple and stable app. There are a couple of gripes on my G3 - WP size is way too big at all zoom levels yet track width is about a pixel and so barely distinguishable. Wld b 5 stars if you cld edit these in prefs. Despite these glitches i'd still happily recommend as in my opinion it still outshines most other marine chart apps despite ( perhaps because of it's ease of chart load, lack of non-essential bells and whistles and stability.) |
[2012-08-01] A Google User: Accurate! Used the Chesapeake charts to run from Elizabeth City NC south on the Pasquotank river and turned north on the North river up through inter coastal waterway cut to Coinjock. All markers were dead on! Map/position update was dead on accurate at 40 MPH. Droid Razor Maxx. |
[2012-07-30] A Google User: Great value Tracked us nicely on a trip through international waters along the Detroit River and Lake Erie. Well worth the price for a redundant, hand-held system. |
[2012-07-29] A Google User: Works great on Nexus Awesome. My Buddy's GPS is dated. So I tried this app for fishing long isl sound. Performed beautifully. Nice chart plotter in color for $6.99. Kenny |
[2012-07-06] A Google User: Exactly what I wanted! The region 32 chart for south central Alaska has tons of relevant and usefull info. It will be interesting to see how it works while really out there. I highly recommend! |
[2012-07-04] A Google User: Incomplete Lake Champlain charts not included in this app, waste of money for me |
[2012-07-03] A Google User: Great app.... Used it at night to navigate back to the marina. Low light display option was great. Overall, this is a fully functional app with great options. Cons: no wave point option and GPS stops when the screen is zoomed in or out. |
[2012-06-28] A Google User: Amazing One great app for the price. Works well off line with a bluetooth gps dongle. Under constant development much more is expected from the authers given the license structure. Worth every penny |
[2012-06-27] A Google User: Buy this app I'm not kidding this app is great. I bought it for my samsung galaxy 2 as well as samsung tablet. It runs great on both. I boat near Harsens Island Mi. and if you're familiar with that area it can be somewhat confusing. this app works flawlessly. I highly recommend for any boater. |
[2012-06-17] A Google User: Great software! I have tried others and this is the best. |
[2012-06-14] A Google User: Saved the day fishing... Imported 500 reefs from my gpx database as my backup! Looking forward to the other waypoint entry formats! |
[2012-06-11] A Google User: Slow to find satellites Used this app this weekend on a friend's boat since they dont have a gps. Worked great once it found the satellites, but that took > 20mins on tne Chesapeake Bay. If not for that it would be 5 stars. Has route tracking, waypoint setup, raster charts. Pinch zoom is great. Its a keeper. |
[2012-06-05] A Google User: Nice app Nice app but would be awesome if you could enter waypoints and plan routes. |
[2012-06-02] A Google User: Not a plotter Not a plotter. Just maps you can get for free with most gps or maps on the market. |
[2012-05-29] A Google User: Very accurate GPS positioning & speed gauge For the price, you can't beat it. The mapping in the same as my Lowrance. Albeit It will not replace my expensive marine device, it is a great backup and mapping locator for fishing and clam beds if I go on another vessel. I love the pinching zoom ability and the 3 lighting adjustments for day, dust & evening - all of which are adjustable. It also has a distance indicator from your position to anywhere on the map by merely using your finger and drawing a straight line - again, very accurate and great to have to gauge your fuel level. My devices are a Toshiba Tablet and Samsung Charge - I have downloaded the app on both. Happy boating everyone, don't leave port without this app. |
[2012-05-28] A Google User: Astounding! While out from my home port in SE Alaska, my high dollar chart plotter croaked. Real Bummer. Whopped out my Samsung Galaxy II Skyrocket and PRESTO! I had the best charting app IN THE WORLD up and working flawlessly in seconds. Saved my bacon. Liked it so much, I scored a mount for my Asus Transformer and slapped it up at the helm. Flawless on both devices. One is running ice cream sandwich, the other double carrot cake or whatever it was that came before ice cream sandwich. Works with either carb loaded OS wonderfully. The high dollar chart plotter is still croaked. Might shoot it with a gun or use it to serve cheese on. I wish I could give this app 6 stars. |
[2012-05-07] A Google User: Mx features Nice work. Simple and rasters rock! Possible features to ad in next version... Mark (like for crab pot) but no nav feature. Look ahead like on nobelte |
[2012-05-04] A Google User: No issues...until now. Crashes after latest update. |
[2012-05-04] A Google User: The best Marine GPS EVER!!!!!!!! Throw your Garmin overboard! This app has made my Garmin an antique! This is by far one of the best apps ever made! Thank you Will. You Rule!!!!!!! |
[2012-05-02] A Google User: Outstanding App is easier to use, better presentation, up to date charts over handheld maritime GPS device specifically made for navigation. The MX Mariner gives me information I need to navigate through San Francisco fog or up and down the coast in a user friendly format. The ONLY improvement would be to have the ability to direct the storage of charts to the SD Card and I've been advised that this is coming. Outstanding product. CaptBill |
[2012-04-27] A Google User: Very impressed. Motorola ATRIX. Worked perfectly up the ICW Charleston to Annapolis. Off line. Current charts. Better than I hoped. Fast response. Excellent support. Thankyouverymuch. |
[2012-04-26] A Google User: Now that I am using it... Great app! Garmin, Raymarine who? From now on if my chartplotter can't surf the net, and watch Netflix, I don't want it! |
[2012-04-25] A Google User: Good offline maps, and great because it's being worked on So far it's good... Patiently waiting for routes & grib data:-) |
[2012-04-15] A Google User: Pretty good, needs improvement but worth the $$$ Pretty good and I think developer will improve. Cons are User interface is a bit clunky, maps have a rendency to pixelate (they arent raster built maps but scanned pics). Pros are this is great for general planning, nm estimates, getting waypoint locations, and very fun to be abke to see lots of maps.. Way cheaper than buying maps, but certainly no substitute. Free sw available on PC is more detailed but one cant argue with the convinience of this. Worth the money if devel continues :-) Running on galaxy 10.1 |
[2012-03-30] A Google User: Worked great until i downloaded more charts Was awesome. I dismissed additional charts and now no charts are displayed, just a pixelated map. |
[2012-03-28] A Google User: Best mobile marine charting app I'm really impressed with MX Mariner - even though it's still under active development and getting new features, it's one of the best Android charting apps, and by far the best at this price point. Most charting apps are completely unusable in the real world - either they require a full-time data connection, or require downloading individual BSB charts in advance. Some don't even support chart quilting, so you have to open a new chart as your location moves from one chart to the next. MX Mariner gets this right - download charts for a whole region, and that's it. MX Mariner quilts charts together automatically, and no data connection is required for charts within each region once downloaded. As an experienced sailor and cruiser with thousands of blue water miles, I have a pretty good idea what makes a usable navigation app. MX Mariner already useful, and getting better with each new version! Really looking forward to seeing some of the planned features come along - but even so, this is a great app and well worth checking out. It works flawlessly on both my Android phone and 7" Android tablet. Give it a try! |
[2012-03-27] A Google User: Fantastic Works perfectly on the Droid Razr -- and I'm someone that tries hard to make software crash (and usually succeeds). I've now used it on two cruises in the San Juans and it's the best of any other simple navigation program. Charts were easy to download. Best part: FAST. Also, I was surprised at the battery usage -- lasted a lot longer than I expected (sorry, didn't record how long I had the program running). If the (I think forthcoming) additions allow for route planning and a track log, this could completely replace my laptop. As it is, I didn't turn on a chart plotting program once. By far the best marine Android app I've used so far. |
[2012-03-21] A Google User: Terrific App App is stable with fast zoom and pan graphics on Moto Xoom & Dinc 2. Easy to load NOAA Chart regions vs State or tiled downloads. Zooms into small areas with very good resolution. Highly recommend! |
[2012-03-21] A Google User: Fantasic App!! This app is best marine navigation App I have found. Works flawlessly on my HTC Thunderbolt and my Motorola Droid. Wanted a handheld GPS for kayaking. This app does exactly what I need. Easy to use intuitive user interface. Well worth the $6.99. Beats any marine GPS app out there. Buy it, you won't be sorry. Even works on my old Droid that is not even activated! |
[2012-03-13] A Google User: Great Love it |
[2012-03-11] A Google User: Well done! Installed and ran perfectly w/3.2. Very nice app that does exactly what it claims. Looking forward to the planned features in future versions. (Active Captain data will be a great addition.) Thank you! |
[2012-02-21] A Google User: Just keeps getting better Had the opportunity to Beta test this app. It was solid right from the start. It's nice to see this type of Craftsmanship at such a reasonable price range. I look forward to using it more this spring in the Puget sound and San Juan Islands. now lets work on saving and exporting tracks... |
[2012-01-13] A Google User: Simple and effective |
[2011-12-29] A Google User: top notch works very well on my Xoom and my original Motorola Droid. fast, nice! not biased ;) ... |
[2011-12-28] A Google User: Just the app to do the job! i run commercial sailing vessels here in maine. the simple use of the noaa charts is so much better than any of the garmin stuff i have been subjected to the past 15 years. i understand this app will soon have a track log. keeps getting better. worth the money! capt. parker in maine |
[2011-12-06] A Google User: Great app Excellent Vs. One app. Can't wait for all the additional functionality to come. No problems whatsoever with this vs. |
[2011-12-04] A Google User: Looks wonderful so far. I have not had it out on the boat yet, but it seems to do everything it claims so far. Can't beat the price when it includes the charts. |
[2011-12-04] A Google User: Works great! I installed on my Samsung Galaxy 10.1 running Android 3.2 this morning. It's really very nice! Works right out of the box doing nothing with a fast display. OK, it could be easier if I didn't have to download it. The map regions for download after install just make this app must have. I'm sure this app has a great future! Most applications that start out bad never get better. This one has more going for it than a lot of others that have been out a lot longer. The foundation for a first release is solid. |
[2011-12-03] A Google User: Works very well Works well on my Thunderbolt but of course could use a bigger screen. Will be great on a tablet especially as the new versions come along. Good job! |
