[2012-08-13] A Google User: Very Very Good Just got back from 5 months in the Bahamas--was in the Abacos, Eleuthera, Exumas and Jumentos and used this on my Optimus V. This app uses cartography from Wavey Line and it is outstanding. We draw 6.5 feet so soundings are crucial in many places in the Bahamas. Our main chart plotter was Garmin which used an excellent version of the Bahamas Explorer Charts which are certainly gold standard but I liked EarthNC/Wavy Line even a bit better. Found its soundings to be a bit more accurate and it had better information on land features and businesses. We even used it (remember we draw 2.0 meters) to enter Hope Town (1.4 meters a low tide) and Comer Channel--between Long Island and the Jumentos. In Comer Channel we had as little as 0.4 meter below our keel for 4+ miles(1.5 meters at low tide, maybe less). Marine Charts Bahamas HD functioned like a champ....it really was pretty amazing. Kind of a hassle to download charts as they have to be small areas--Please Improve This!. But overall well well worth it. Great App! |

[2011-06-21] A Google User: Not Great Read carefully...these are NOT NOAA Charts. Although this is claimed to be a navigation app, it's not...It has an on-screen compass (which is 90 degrees off on tablets)...that's about the extent of the navigation. You have to manually select which part of the chart to download, and you can't select too much or you get an error message. Charts hang during download. Those that do download are very slow. Zooming in/out is very slow and cumbersome. Panning works OK. It does show current location. |
