[사용방법 및 소개]

중국은 광활한 대륙만큼이나 다양한 문화를 갖추고 있고, 우리가 상상하는 것보다 훨씬 다이내믹합니다. 전통적으로 안 되는 게 없는 나라였죠.

궁궐에서 왕자가 넘어지자 문지방을 모두 뽑아버리거나, 서태후가 호수가 보고 싶어라고 말하면 호수를 파내는 것만 봐도 그렇습니다. 비상시적이라고 생각되는 일들도 중국이라면 가능해요.

사실 변화하는 중국을 보면 깜짝 깜짝 놀랄 때가 많습니다. 과거의 중국이라면 1년이고 2년이고 세월아 네월아 하면서 같은 자리에서 계속 공사를 하는 장면이 연출되었겠지만, 지금은 다릅니다. 자본주의의 유입과 함께 경제 발전을 이룩하면서 빨리 개발해서 돈을 벌려는 풍속도가 만연해졌기 때문이죠.

게다가 사회주의적 습성이 아직 남아있어서 상부에서 지시가 내려오면 모든 인력과 노력을 투입해 결과물을 내고야 맙니다. 불과 한달 전에 고가도로가 연결되어 있던 상하이 시내가 고가를 없애고 도로를 확장하는 특급 이벤트를 펼치기도 합니다.

하지만 지레 겁먹지는 마시길. 조금만 주의한다면 언제나 색다른 모습을 보여주는 중국이 여행자에게 더욱 매력적으로 다가올테니까요.
