Columbus (v. 11) Разработано City of Columbus |
The City of Columbus has released a free Mobile Application for Android devices allowing area residents enhanced access to city and community resources. The App puts city services at the fingertips of residents and visitors, bringing to life many of Mayor Michael B. Coleman’s mayoral initiatives to improve the quality of life of the Columbus residents. The App uses many integrated technologies, such as GPS for location services, RSS for City News Feeds, and has an entire Social Media Center providing access to Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube information.
The App encompasses four mayoral initiatives to help city residents: My Neighborhood, Get Active, Get Green, and 311. The My Neighborhood campaign allows residents to easily select and map government buildings, local entertainment and retail venues, as well as other useful Columbus sites. The Get Active initiative enables residents to access an events calendar, park and trail guides, and tips from prominent community members on healthy eating and exercise. The Get Green initiative encourages sustainable behavior with environmental facts and pointers. The app also includes a 311 Service Center submission section where residents can submit and check on the status of service requests from their mobile devices.
This Android App is one piece of the foundation of a strategic mobile program for the City of Columbus. With smart phone use already at 50% for much of the US, the Columbus App was the obvious next-step in improving city-to-resident communication. The City of Columbus hopes to capitalize on this phenomenon and make public services more accessible and engaging to residents.

[2012-10-09] Mike: Waste of money The only feature that I find to be useful is the trash collection notification. Which is a service that would be better left to the private sector. If I need to find my way around then I would use Google maps. I Don't understand why our money was wasted in this way. |
[2012-09-21] Heathen: Awesome iOS tabs suck but the app works mostly well otherwise. |
[2012-08-01] Michael: Crap I want a full refund for my tax dollars. I think a preschool kids could do better. |
[2012-07-24] Terra: Locator terrible Pins impossible to place by phone, it thinks I.m halfway across town, and touching the screen zooms you way out. it should let you type in an address so you don't have to stand in front of the location your reporting about. it also don't we all the way out when I tried to take it's a picture so I had to start over. |
[2012-07-17] Tonika: Pgh Very helpful! |
[2012-06-07] randy: Wish it Worked ....... 311 Map. Runtime Error [0,0]null Wrapper java.lang.NullPointException yes I have GPS ON... If any one Cares |
[2012-06-06] Tim: Very Hard to Use The add photo to 311 report feature crashes most of the time. The GPS locator feature is only helpful if you are standing right in front of the property you need the request for. Otherwise, there is no way to manually enter an address. |
[2012-06-01] Sam: Please update festivals and events |
[2012-05-30] Tiffany: Awesome Awesome |
[2012-05-29] Don: Horribly unfriendly app |
[2012-05-07] Scott: Impressive & Improving Lot of interesting & valuable content w/more to come. |
[2012-05-03] Jody: Not great The app is bulky, then when I used it I couldn't get past the pin locator step. It just kept telling me to zoom, I did and still submit did not work. Needs Work. |
[2012-04-25] |r|g|b|: Great job. Great to see Columbus moving forward. Innovation is crucial. |
[2012-04-01] brenda: So far, so good |
[2012-02-22] Jeremy: Getting better The 2/22 update makes it much faster. Good Job |
[2012-02-21] jen: Takes forever to load up. Not that great for the $125,000 they spent to make it. |
[2012-02-18] PharaohNW: Where to begin The idea is good to have an app for our city. But to spend that much money and get nothing that is bad. Delaware city developed their app for free and the app is functional unlike this one where you had to download 20mb and it uses arouses 70 MB of memory and still freezes and slow. Also why Coleman's picture is there, are we gonna change it with Evert mayor!? That is an example for an expensive app that went bad. |
[2012-02-15] Chris: Needs lots of work Takes several minutes to load, doesn't want to refresh, so is essentially useless to me. An unfortunate waste of valuable tax dollars in its current form. |
[2012-02-10] kevin: Mad tax payer This app sucks.... |
[2012-02-08] JoshuaRyan: Needs to be movable not a bad app up but I had to uninstall because I could not move it to my sd card |
[2012-02-06] Cece: Good job |
[2012-02-06] SeanJohn: Great App This app will help anyone who lives in cbus or visiting. And well worth the money the city spent on it |
[2012-02-06] Eric: Not good enough. For the tax money spent, the production quality is pretty poor. |
[2012-02-06] David: Wow... @Jason...the question is how can you afford a data phone and still be allowed to apply for those services?? Idiot |
[2012-02-06] ViciousCircle: Poorly done Just freezes up on my Galaxy nexus. Not a good way to spend $170,000 of tax dollars. |
[2012-02-06] Joshua: App sucks Wow 170 thousand was used to create this piece of garbage. Glad my tax dollars are going to something good that's going to better peoples lives like feeding the homeless or helping people who are struggling financial. Great decision Coleman you poor excuse for a mayor. |
[2012-02-06] Wade: Not bad, but too fat! I could see using this, but it's taking up easy too much memory! They need to update it so it can be moved to an SD card! |
[2012-02-06] Tim: This is awesome! What a great idea! |
[2012-02-06] Patrick: Quit wasting our money!!! This app is just another example of how the government wastes taxpayer money. The person that approved this app probably got a kick back from the company that produced it. All this is is another case of crappy politics. |
[2011-10-14] Joshua: Great app! Thanks Mayor Coleman for this useful app! Vote no on issue 2! |
[2011-10-14] stefphanie: This app is a great way to access city services! |
[2011-10-14] Phillip: Nice app about town Terrific way to quickly learn about city services near you |
[2011-10-14] Jason: Pointless self-promotion for more government Why can't I apply for food stamps and section 8 housing while I'm at it. Dumb. Mayor Coleman is a tool. |
[2011-09-30] Tom: Nice app I love being able to find cool stuff in my neighborhood. |
