[2013-02-10] A Google User: Good App |
[2013-02-08] A Google User: Great! I go up in the mountains and don't have cell signal most anywhere I go. With this I can download the area I want to go to before hand. I also like how it synchronizes with my online account, when I'm back in cell coverage. |
[2013-02-08] A Google User: Love it |
[2013-02-06] A Google User: Works great Used it duck hunting this season. Worked well even in remote areas. |
[2013-02-05] A Google User: Great app Similar to a $400 dedicated GPS unit |
[2013-02-03] A Google User: This app does not work as advertised This app should be withdrawn as a public menace. Do not depend on it to move around in the wilderness. The caching does not work. Trimble should be ashamed of themselves. The police should investigate these guys. |
[2013-01-30] A Google User: So far so good. Am using this app to waypoint stops on an extremely rural Schwans route. Offline maps are a mecessity. Wish that Street/road maps were available for bulk download. Topo is good but too "busy" for in vehicle use. Hoping I can print route maps & waypoints when I get home... |
[2013-01-29] A Google User: Good app I like it. Its a little cumbersome at times though. This app is, so far, better than others I have tried. |
[2013-01-29] A Google User: Average app Cons: Not many free map sources, very USA focused, too many pay-for-use options, poor (very poor) zoom level on online maps (digital zoom should be added for smartphone use), nothing really outstanding. Pros: Easy UI, good repository of free tracks from the users, quite stable. |
[2013-01-29] A Google User: atrix hd Great |
[2013-01-29] A Google User: not happy fonts are to Small on my LG intuition didn't get past that don't use it looking for a fix Maybe. |
[2013-01-28] A Google User: Great app Great app but u need to go into the map settings and bump up the cach size it starts out at only 10 megs I figured that out after having caching problems I bumped mine up to 500 megs and now I love this app can go where no signal and cached maps are working perfectly |
[2013-01-28] A Google User: Not bad for a buck No landscape? Would also like the option to see current speed on map. I use this for offroading, and not too many apps work well for that purpose. |
[2013-01-21] A Google User: No longer useful Trimble decided to charge for everything they used to provide with the app purchase. You no longer can import GPX files, plan trips, or download map tiles without a one time fee or a yearly membership. $20 to download map tiles for Colorado?! WTF good is it?! UNINSTALLED |
[2013-01-19] A Google User: Seems like it'll work I think I figured out map caching now. Seems like it'll do exact as I need. No word yet on battery consumption, will report back after I've had a chance to test on a upcoming hike and camping trip. |
[2013-01-12] A Google User: Map caching DOES NOT WORK! I bought this app so I could use the "map caching" feature to have a map when hiking in an area with no data reception. Unfortunately the map caching feature flat out DOES NOT WORK. I went back and forth with their support department for over a month. They finally admitted a cached map can't be used in the main "maps" section of the program. They also said their engineers are working to fix it. Once they do fix it, I will change this review from 1 star to 5. |
[2013-01-09] A Google User: Great gps tracker app |
[2013-01-04] A Google User: download to external storage i would like to place my offline maps on my external micro sd card rather than my phones limited internal storage. it seems the only way to do this is to look up the files and transfer them myself??? i'm an outdoorsman not a computer programer... please give me the option to do this from within the app and i'll rate it 10 stars. |
[2013-01-03] A Google User: What a joke! After downloading this I found out that you have to buy all the good maps at $20 per state. Also, this is literally identical to Cabela's recon which uses Trimble. Also very slow load time for Bing maps with no access to google maps you already have. Also, you now have only 15 minutes to decide whether to keep an app instead of the 24 hours you had before. It tkaes longer than that to realize you need to buy maps. |
[2012-12-20] A Google User: Very Disappointed Coming from Trimble I expected something much better. I am sticking to my Garmin 60Csx. You know I priced Trimble handhelds and they are from $1500-$3500, so yea, they should be the best. |
[2012-11-30] A Google User: Trails Works well! |
[2012-11-29] A Google User: Great Tool Did what I needed it to do. Loved that I didn't need a data connection. |
[2012-11-25] A Google User: Email trip info needed |
[2012-11-24] A Google User: Very good tool. Would like option of track up/north up. A bit cumbersome to use. Not very intuitive. Still-very powerfull and useful. |
[2012-11-19] A Google User: love this app How can you go wrong for $.99 |
[2012-11-19] A Google User: Pounder Great!! |
[2012-11-18] A Google User: Love it. By far the best navigation app I have found. |
[2012-11-16] A Google User: Great app, but used to be better They used to use Google Maps, but now the use bing... cloud cover in most my maps... it's a darn shame... will reevaluate if they are willing to put Google maps back... 4 stars |
[2012-11-14] A Google User: Great hunting gps app Love this app! Better than a $300 dedicated handheld gps. Just got back from 14 days elk hunting in Colorado and it worked great. You have to make sure you have cell phone data reception where you will be going or else plan ahead and download the maps ahead of time. Very easy to mark waypoints, go to waypoints, track your path and save your trip to the Tremble cloud to share with friends later. You need to be aware of your battery usage.....don't leave it running all day or else your cell phone will die. |
[2012-11-14] A Google User: Pete Works great |
[2012-11-13] A Google User: Need work Can't export kml |
[2012-11-13] A Google User: Best and Most Detailed I tried a number of apps including the popular back cou try one but the toto maps are missing a lot of trails and routes for Southern NB Canada, this has all the trails for atving that the others dont have. One recommendation, Lift the 200MB map pack limit. |
[2012-11-12] A Google User: Excellent App Used this App this past weekend, worked as good as my Garmin. |
[2012-11-10] A Google User: UI so terrible it will make you wanna slap your mama Title says it all really, this could be a great app but the UI learning curve is to great to make it useful. |
[2012-11-08] A Google User: Tremble Topo Maps App is lots of fun. |
[2012-11-06] A Google User: Happy Customer but could be Happier Maps are excellent able to download maps in advance to going out.I use backpacking boating & riding atv's. People with sound, stored map view level issues etc need to learn the app. These are adjustable settings. My maps work excellent with no cell service usually within 3 meters. UI needs improvement. Specifically getting map to area you want to download maps of should be able to search & jump to area on map of choice for downloading for future use. Stats would be nice gps position, miles elevation change |
[2012-11-06] A Google User: Great app really wish the map would turn as you move, like all the rest of the navigation apps I use, doing 70 mph down the lake having a heads up display very important,, not trying to figure out if I am going to have to turn the phone upside down or sideways, be a 5 star when map turns like goggle maps |
[2012-10-31] A Google User: Love this app! This is the app you want if you'd like to use your phone for a standalone GPS. Easy to download high quality maps, intuitive user interface. Lots of useful options. Does not require network connectivity after maps are downloaded. Maps are free after initial charge for app. |
[2012-10-30] A Google User: Great app! Why spend all that money on a GPS for hunting when yah have it on your phone! |
[2012-10-27] A Google User: Junk Total pocrap with a horrible ui and slow updating for maps. Can't get the map cache to work at all. Don't waste your $ |
[2012-10-27] A Google User: Avid backpacker and outdoor enthusiast I love this app, the biggest plus is the offline maps, I wouldn't use any other GPS! |
[2012-10-27] A Google User: Great App This app works like a regular GPS and then some. I am very happy with this app. |
[2012-10-22] A Google User: Awesome app Great app and great customer service. It is worth buying. |
[2012-10-20] A Google User: Best hiking app Being able to pre-load map packs makes this one of the best outdoor gps apps. It helps if you can get a high capacity battery for your phone. Definitely 5 stars. |
[2012-10-17] A Google User: Excellent for hiking! Great topographical maps, excellent tracking, nice online service. |
[2012-10-17] A Google User: Great for mountain bike trails This app has been excellent whilst exploring the Swiss mountains. Wish there was some kind of GPS power/usage management! |
[2012-10-14] A Google User: Great app. Especially when trails are little traveled I bought the Pro version for hiking in the Sandias near Albuquerque. Don't even have to download maps. Just get to the trailhead and the map shows up labelled. My only concern is that the app doesn't show distance hiked until you complete the hike. Some trail guides give you distances between landmarks and the app doesn't track this live. |
[2012-10-13] A Google User: Excellent, but... While following a route the software plays a sound at every node, which is usually every 10ft... Makes following routes thoroughly embarrassing! Other than that, this app is extremely good. A few minor additions would make it perfect. Until there is more control over the sound issue, this app will be getting 3 stars. Once fixed its 5 stars no doubt. |
[2012-10-12] A Google User: Wd40 Great app still learning! |
[2012-10-08] A Google User: Useful Useful for maps and trips |
[2012-10-08] A Google User: Works well Keeps my hunting trips stored. Easy to use lol |
[2012-10-08] A Google User: flaky design, bad docs I purchased the pro version, and I'd expect the documentation to be correct - good luck trying to figure out how to cache maps, for instance. The UI is poor, but I'd expect that the pop-up help would at least reference the name of the thing being described. Maybe it's last year's version they are documenting. Good luck figuring out how to cache maps. It seems like the pro version, even, is mostly about driving you to their pay services. Save your few bucks and look elsewhere. |
[2012-10-07] A Google User: Great if you have cell service.... The offline maps caching isn't great. I use them for 50+ mile off road trips. I can't zoom in enough for them to be useful. But it's a pretty cool app if you have a signal. |
[2012-10-07] A Google User: Nice I really would like to see elevation gains on the trips. The map base is awesome though! |
[2012-09-30] A Google User: Give me my money back! So I bought this for my N7 tablet a few days before going on a big hike in the Sierras. I downloaded the map packs for the area, highest level I could download and was good to go. I tested without a wifi connection that I could still scroll around the area within the map view. So fast forward a few days and I'm at the trail head and I launch the app. No maps of the area. The map view would show "no data connection" on the background. I went to the map pack section and the maps were still there, though the zoom level did not appear as good as before I could at least get the maps at one or 2 zoom levels. But nothing came up on the map view, just a gray background. It was utterly useless because I could not over lay gps position and track on the map pack I had downloaded. Did they even test this app in any real world scenario? Very very dissapointed. |
[2012-09-21] A Google User: Best gps app for hunting/hiking title says it all...VERY good. |
[2012-09-19] A Google User: Jay hunts Awesome app period! I use it for scouting deer . The last two years I have taken three deer , thanks to the topo maps. |
[2012-09-19] A Google User: Great The option to download maps to your device works very well and makes this app ideal for hiking out of coverage areas. |
[2012-09-17] A Google User: Android charged Great app i use it everytime i go atv riding keep me from getting lost. |
[2012-09-16] A Google User: Great app does all that it says and more |
[2012-09-12] A Google User: Great app for HTC design |
[2012-09-12] A Google User: Works well Interface takes some getting used to. Wishing the battery percentage was one of the stats I could view in addition to the others. |
[2012-09-11] A Google User: Nice but... Great app but needs some refinement. Function is great, pulls maps from Bing and Topo USA, two of the better sources and tracking is right on. However it lacks landscape mode and you only get location, speed, and bearing while your in a track. The UI is a little cumbersome to me but that's opinion. Overall I'd say if you need this type of GPS tracking its worth the $. |
[2012-09-11] A Google User: Buggy on cached maps Cached a lot of map data but would not access the cached data unless I had a cell data connection. Un install and refund option is not displayed. Cannot get a refund |
[2012-09-10] A Google User: Love It! Works Great! |
[2012-09-09] A Google User: Does the job. Could be a bit more streamlined. Doesn't allow you to view in landscape on android. Other than that its excellent! Map quality is excellent! Definitely worth the price! |
[2012-09-08] A Google User: Nice It works.... |
[2012-09-07] A Google User: Amazing! I use this for hunting and I never worry about not finding my sweet spot. Love how I can load maps before I go out. Well worth the money. |
[2012-09-06] A Google User: Needs Work Top Picks thing is a waste of space. Put it elsewhere!! Too few will ever use it. Topo maps for Canada are VERY OLD. |
[2012-09-01] A Google User: Good app, great maps! Interface with Trimble Outdoors is good for trip planning. |
[2012-08-30] A Google User: Solid app. I used it for tracking our course over a week of houseboating on Lake Powell. Very neat to take pics of our campsites and pin them to the track as well. Any chance this app could also be used in landscape mode as well as portrait? Trying to keep my Acer A510 upright doesn't work very well with the current stands and covers that place it in a widescreen position. |
[2012-08-27] A Google User: Does what it says.. Slowly... |
[2012-08-27] A Google User: Kitrimble Excellent application. Use it for skiing and vertical feet. Works awesome. Highly recommended. |
[2012-08-18] A Google User: Surveyor I'm a pipeliner of 17 years and this app is by far the best I've come across. |
[2012-08-17] A Google User: Great! Love the app! Great map detail on topo. There needs to be a way to put a waypoint on the map by touching place on map instead of entering GPS position. |
[2012-08-15] A Google User: Nice app |
[2012-08-11] A Google User: Awsome Works like a champ. Upgraded from Droid X to Samsung Galaxy 3. Faster response and GPS signal. Never failed off network. Would be nice to have a widget bar of start/pause, mark point, stats and compass. |
[2012-08-04] A Google User: Used it today and loved it Used this app on a ten mile hike today in the cascades, and it worked like a charm. I have a Droid Bionic. |
[2012-08-03] A Google User: Paid version is great Loving it so far! |
[2012-07-27] A Google User: Great app. |
[2012-07-24] A Google User: Gets the job done But the interface is not intuitive. |
[2012-07-23] A Google User: Good app I am running pro on a Samsung 7" Galaxy 2 tablet. Everything works great except the compass, it is 90 degrees off. I know it isn't an issue with the tablet b/c another free download works 4.0. I pulled up Backpacker lite (free), also made by Trimble Outdoors, and it has the same error in the compass page. Love the product guys but can you figure out what the issue is. I'll gladly add the last star for that. |
[2012-07-19] A Google User: Great app for off roading and hiking |
[2012-07-17] A Google User: Great! |
[2012-07-16] A Google User: Great I have almost 300 trips saved and very few issues. I love it. |
[2012-07-14] A Google User: I've tried them all... This app is much better than it's competition. |
[2012-07-13] A Google User: Nice nav. |
[2012-07-09] A Google User: Great app and customer service. Excellent response from the developer. App has great map caching, good power consumption, and a decent UI, when you get used to it. |
[2012-06-30] A Google User: Calin Very nice outdoor navi. Only if maps will load faster. |
[2012-06-28] A Google User: Disappointed It looks good at first, but it's slow as molasses! |
[2012-06-27] A Google User: Great apparently! Love that you can cache maps and be off the grid! |
[2012-06-26] A Google User: The best at the moment! I own what I consider to be the two best "off road" GPS solutions currently on the market, this being one of them and another that pretty close behind, but is lacking just a few features I would like to see. Also, and this is very important, TONP cost half of what the other one does! I mainly use this software for when I go out and survey land with my metal detector, or when I've made my way down into a low valley to gold pan, or if I'm looking to just do the initial planning of a search before I ever step outside. Being able to cache tiles for where I'm going is amazing!!! And it's so easy to create these Map Packs! Add on the fact that Trimble has some great software online that you can use to plan out a trip before you even head out and then link it with your phone is fantastic, but it just keeps getting better when you realize you can create maps after your trips that include all your way points showing you any/all the info you need for the next go around! I love it! It's the best at the moment, and it keeps getting stronger! Thanks Trimble!!! You have turned my DROID4 into a legit handheld GPS device!!! |
[2012-06-26] A Google User: Unintuitive but works Bought this and Backcountry Nav Pro and must say this is a very unintuitive program. Creating trips and then stopping and basically all other operations just don't have intuitive shortcuts and visual feedback. It does not inspire confidence at all. Also entire screen blanks and reloads every time you move the map. Confusing which area of app you are in and so forth. Nav apps should be very intuitive and relatively easy to use Overall I feel this app could use a LOT of improvement in GUI and user experience. |
[2012-06-22] A Google User: Trimble navigator pro Excellent |
[2012-06-20] A Google User: Never get lost! Awesome |
[2012-06-18] A Google User: Gray app. My favorite nav app so far. |
[2012-06-14] A Google User: Great for boating! So far it has been great. Helped me find my point from the water. New lake and I didnt know where I launched hours earlier. |
[2012-06-12] A Google User: No search feature.... Has a lot of potential and is now the only resource for My Topo maps, however it seems that the developer is deliberately making it hard to find a map without using their extremely limiting "find a trip" feature which is designed to extract more money. |
[2012-06-12] A Google User: Love it Love it. It takes awhile to learn, but it is great particularly being able to 'cache' maps (particularly TOPO maps which I LOVE). Read the directions on the website, and the knowledgebase. It is a great tool for being outdoors and in the country. For the person who said its just a way to sell more "My Trips" -- that is so wrong. Just download your own maps and find the trails. Read the directions before you gripe about something! |
[2012-06-11] A Google User: Love this program I live on Trimble and highly recommend. Using it for mtn biking and trail running. It's Awesome! |
