[2012-01-20] David: Nexus |
[2012-01-18] Darrin: You need to exit with the back button, not the home button or it will not close and drain your battery |
[2012-01-15] Adam: Si senor This app is running in background since last update and my battery... otherwise great app |
[2012-01-08] James: Excessive permissions Requests access to sensitive user data. |
[2012-01-06] k: Nexus It goes very well with nexus. I am using it daily! |
[2011-12-30] Joe: CRASHES! ... Doesn't work on my Galaxy Nexus Failed to show return route during Mtn. snowshoe'g This app failed to show/redraw my route when returning from a deep back country Mtn. snowshoe hike. Left me searching for the trail ... NOT GOOD! Map downloads are ridiculously slow and too limited. Constant failures when trying to download maps. My DroidX has GIG-Bytes of avail. space yet this limits me to a few hundred MB of map download? The app's display redraw is lethargic! This app has promise but falls short in a few critical areas. Hope to see fixes |
[2011-12-19] John: It works What more from an app do you want than doing what it says. I have used this app to hunt areas that do not have a cell signal, just down load the map. |
[2011-11-23] Francis: Gaia GPS is the best! Trimble buys MyTopo and blocks other GPS apps, trying to compete unfairly. Developer found an alternate USGS source & updated Gaia GPS within a day! |
[2011-10-14] bernieb: Works great |
[2011-09-22] Alvin: Using app as a backup GPS and track recorder for private flights. Wonderful app, well thought-out info display and worked like magic! (HTC Flyer) |
[2011-09-20] Pagey: Best GPS application for Android. I have used several GPS apps similar to Gaia and this one beats them all by miles. I recently used this app as my primary GPS during a week-long backpack through Olympic National Park. The app worked like a champ with offline maps on both my phone and my Motorola Xoom. I plan to continue using it for most of my hiking, backpacking and other outdoor activities. |
[2011-09-20] matt: Cant record tracks, force closes sony x10 |
[2011-09-08] Peyton: not worthy of $9.95 Clearly 99% of Android users have never seen or used an IPAD or IPHONE. As such they will never miss or even know what they're missing :( I decided because price (almost $300 Cheaper) to take a test ride on the Android platform using the Motorola Zoom (WIFI 32GB) My benchmark for comparison was a GPS TOPO mapping application. As a result I chose the Gaia GPS (Topo Maps) $9.95 Application Errors: Application not responding 6 times in one afternoon / exit application and reload each time. The following is |
[2011-08-17] Sergey: Auto track saving needed. Good app. Lacks ability to automatically save current track. I've lost couple of important tracks when phone crashed. |
[2011-08-16] Cap'n Eric: No problem with the application at all. Very good customer service! Barely drained my battery after an 8 hr hike. Remember to pre load maps. |
[2011-08-15] John Paul: Awesome! Great customer service! The last couple updates have been awesome! |
[2011-08-07] Greg: . |
[2011-08-07] Ryan: Out of all of my apps this one has the BEST customer service! I had a few problems with my GPS (on a Sunday). They helped me within minutes! |
[2011-08-04] Bill: Ok for limited Topo areas usage But uses raster not vector maps so they're huge and slow. Osmand is great exmpl of what vector maps bring to the table |
[2011-07-21] Landon DeFelice: keeps crashing on vzw droidx. Would have been an amazing app otherwise. Please fix! I want to purchase and use your product! |
[2011-07-15] Joseph: Definitely the best out there! Has helped me get out of a few blizzards. Best options out there. Great tracking, offline map sources, power saving etc |
[2011-06-29] jacknorth: Was nice, but now force closes at startup |
[2011-06-20] Philip: Would be great if it didn't drain your battery in an hour. No way to even get to your destination much less find your way BACK. |
[2011-05-22] kevin: Excellent app. Makes my $250 garmin useless. Highly recommended. |
[2011-05-17] cooolmagic: Latest update is much better. Downloads are fast and even tracks drawing is faster. Tracks import / exports works pretty well. Nice design overall. |
[2011-04-14] Charles: Problems getting satellite lock on Captivate. Other applications achieve the lock routinely. Great concept though. |
[2011-03-15] paul: A great app for hiking, worth the price! One of the few apps that shows trails. We took this up Romero pools and recorded our actual distance and time |
[2011-03-10] Thorsten: ip*one ui, c'mon android has buttons! why do I have to name download? can't zoom out far enough. tiles missing in south cal @lvl 8 |
[2011-03-03] darius: It's maptech terrain navigator in the palm of your hand! Love the new update. Thanks guys! |
[2011-01-06] Kevin: Excellent app, easy to use and good service when I had an issue. Better & cheaper than Trimble, keep up the good work! |
[2010-12-31] jason: Good app pointer doesnt work on samsung galaxy so u dont know which way is north other than that its pretty good |
[2010-12-22] Paul: Needs update to a minimum of the iPhone functionality... |
[2010-11-23] Frank: So good. Hard to believe that this works on my li'l Eris! |
[2010-11-11] Fred: has potential but is not actively updated. no touchscreen waypoints. the user has to manualy enter their position. makes it useless for trip planin |
[2010-10-20] Patrick: Great app! Whether for work in the field, hiking, or gps navigation, this is 8 dollars well spent. |
[2010-10-13] Nate: I love real topo maps. Tracking would be a good additional feature, plus the option for a precise numerical compass readout rather than the 10 degree. |
[2010-10-13] Nathan: I love real topo maps. Tracking would be a good additional feature, plus the option for a precise numerical compass readout rather than the 10 degree. |
[2010-10-13] michael: Love it, came in handy during a real emergency |
[2010-09-10] Adam: Use this instead of my regular GPS, great for cross country roadtrips to Zion, redwoods and Washington! :) |
[2010-08-29] davlud2: A favorite app of mine. Would love one more zoom level and a track recording feature |
[2010-08-29] David: A favorite app of mine. Would love one more zoom level and a track recording feature |
[2010-08-24] Keith: Excellent value. Still a little glitchy but usable even so V1.3 |
[2010-08-14] Justin: Excellent. All complaints have nothing to do with this product. Love it. |
[2010-08-14] justin: Excellent. All complaints have nothing to do with this product. Love it. |
[2010-08-14] ilanioooooooo: Previous tiling errors seem to have been fixed with 8/14/10 release -- keep up the good work! |
[2010-07-31] William: Good thing no malls are going up in the bush. You fail to understand purpose of topo |
[2010-07-28] steve: I was hoping this would make my phone usable as a gps where there's no data service, but the san Diego area map at least is ancient. |
[2010-07-11] Ilan: Has potential, but glaring errors in tiling of offline maps make this app useless in the bush. Also, topo downloads are SSLLOOWW!!! |
[2010-06-23] Bluetop: Really cool app |
[2010-06-23] tim: Was a great program. Now it force closes after I zoom in on area where saved maps fail to load. Also doesnt load new unsaved topo maps. |
[2010-06-23] Jason: Really cool app |
[2010-06-22] Jay: Awesome app...I got opportunity to use it in the Pecos wilderness this last week it worked perfectly. I can't wait to see the new updates. |

[2010-06-20] Officially don't like Buzz!!: This app is amazing! Tons of features and best part, it actually runs! I would pay much more $ for this app. HTC Eris |
[2010-06-19] Thomas: Most recent update wiped out ability to access all my previously saved maps. Be careful with this app, developers appear to be a bit cavalier. |
[2010-06-18] Josh: I've been waiting for an app like this for android. Looking forward to future releases. Well worth the cost. |
[2010-06-15] James: Usability is limited due to the poor quality of the maps. They appear to have been scanned from printed USGS maps. Zooming in is slow. |
[2010-05-31] prawnpie: Solid performer for me using offline maps on a recent trip. Good to cross reference paper maps for my location. Can't wait for more features. |
[2010-05-29] vzett: Used it on. Recent trip to Europe. Cloudmade and OSM street maps were great |
[2010-05-27] Kasimir: Well worth the money. Not the most mature app, but getting better. Overall, great for hiking or driving out of cell range! |
[2010-05-23] Peter: Well worth the money and getting better |
[2010-05-22] Ortelius: looks great so far. Ive used the iphone/ipad and this is not as feature rich, but improving consistently. Developer is super engaged with customers. |
[2010-05-22] Brooks: This program is great. Would be even better if there was an option for units in UTM. |
[2010-05-18] Danny: I like what I see so far. UTM would be a nice option over lat/lon as that's what we use for SAR here in Virginia. |
[2010-05-17] Collin KG: I beta tested this app and was more than happy to pay for it. The developer is very involved and has been attentive to the feedback given by me. |
[2010-05-17] Nick: This application is awesome. It allows you to pre-cache nice hiking maps before you leave, so you have access to them out of cell range. Perfect. |
[2010-05-17] CKG: I beta tested this app and was more than happy to pay for it. The developer is very involved and has been attentive to the feedback given by me. |
[2010-05-17] Dwight: Excellent for out of coverage navigating. Downloaded mytopo maps on a Droid are kickass for mountain hikes. |
