OsmAnd (v. 1.0.0 beta) Разработано Anvisics |
OsmAnd (OSM Automated Navigation Directions)
OsmAnd is an open source navigation application with access to a wide variety of global OpenStreetMap (OSM) data. All map data (vector or tile maps) can be stored on the phone memory card for offline usage. OsmAnd also offers offline and online routing functionality including turn-by-turn voice guidance.
Some of the core features:
- Complete offline functionality (store downloaded vector or tile maps in a selectable folder)
- Compact offline vector maps for the whole world available
- Download of country or region maps directly from the app
- Overlay of several map layers possible, like GPX or navigation tracks, Points of Interest, favorites, contour lines, public transportation stops, additional maps with customizable transparency
- Offline search for addresses and places (POIs)
- Offline routing for short distances (experimental)
- Car, bicycle, and pedestrian modes with:
- optional automated day/night view switching
- optional speed-dependent map zooming
- optional map alignment according to compass or direction of motion
- optional lane guidance, speed limit display, recorded and TTS voices
Limitations of this free version of OsmAnd:
- Number of map downloads limited
- No access to Wikipedia offline POIs
OsmAnd is actively being developed and our project and its further progress relies on financial contributions to fund the development and testdriving new functionality. Please consider buying OsmAnd+, or funding specific new features or making a general donation on osmand.net.

[2013-01-06] A Google User: No TTS, not able to speak street names. No TTS, not able to speak street names. |
[2013-01-06] A Google User: The best this app. is the best navigation tool for your mobile , it works completely off line - google maps navigation needs internet to show you the route - . so easy to use , with off line maps , nice interface , turn by turn navigation , It is even nice for OSM contributors like myself , if I find something needs updating on the map , and yes I can see the results the next time I download the map |
[2013-01-05] A Google User: super 2nd to google |
[2013-01-03] A Google User: Great! Great! Use it! |
[2012-12-29] A Google User: Record audio/video feature should be a separate app download/addon. Potential new users could be wary of these new permissions in the main app |
[2012-12-27] A Google User: Incomplete Map Many locations in Malaysia not found. |
[2012-12-25] A Google User: Great ! So far the best navigation system I have met andd I have had many. Fast, beatifull and easy to use. The only thing so far is with the house numbers. I have been accustomed to a different system. |
[2012-12-25] A Google User: Great project, getting better Nice to see the ui getting a bit tidier. Still some addresses it knows but doesn't find - now it's out of beta I'll start reporting them.... |
[2012-12-24] A Google User: paul great app. i love the offline function. |
[2012-12-24] A Google User: Heel goed De vooruitgang is enorm. OsmAnd heeft nu zo veel functies dat het moeilijk is om ze allemaal te vatten. En de kaartdata wordt ook telkens beter. Keep it going ! |
[2012-12-23] A Google User: D Good |
[2012-12-22] A Google User: Super ok Excellent to use 1000% ok |
[2012-12-21] A Google User: Great app Using this for my travels. |
[2012-12-21] A Google User: The best for offline nav. I regularly use it in Oman and it's just great when I am off to remote areas |
[2012-12-21] A Google User: Awesome application It's the best nav application I ever used |
[2012-12-21] A Google User: The pros overweight the cons. Not quite commercial-grade, and overly complicated interface - but uses open maps and is free, and for some countries is the only alternative. So 5. |
[2012-12-21] A Google User: Good option for offline nav The only complaint i have is that sometimes in the offline navigation it does not calculate the route in the best way but other tan thar is amazing |
[2012-12-20] A Google User: Great Good for navigation but it could be better. |
[2012-12-18] A Google User: Finally a Usable Navigator for Biking I have been in search of an app that can take a gpx file and then give me turn by turn on my bike. Finally. Please keep developing this. So far so good. *** For turn by turn use a service to create GPX then load it to the /tracks directory and then start navigation and select that file then you are navigating with your pre-determined route. It works great! *** This is a great app. Thanks. I donated. If you find it useful you should too. |
[2012-12-13] A Google User: Brilliant app with lots of features Works very well for car navigation in Germany using the offline maps. (I haven't tried walking or cycling.) Small suggestions for improvements: 1) The night time route colour of orange should be changed to something that contrasts better with the red road colour. 2) Show the very useful speed limit warnings even when not in navigate mode but just showing present location. |
[2012-12-13] A Google User: Drains battery when off OK program, but very thirsty!! I expect a GPS program to use a lot of battery, but when I am not using it? With the GPS turned off and when I do not run the program it is still the largest user of my battery after the screen. This is BAD! Google Maps does not do this. Uninstall! |
[2012-12-10] A Google User: No cigar... "The version of Index Gb_england_europe.obf is not supported." Would be nice to tell me this before twice downloading 430mb Ymmv |
[2012-12-10] A Google User: Nice Offline and open |
[2012-12-09] A Google User: The best offline navigation sw I have found OsmAnd is the best offline navigation sw I have found to my Android phone. I have used it many times especially travelling all over the world. The navigation works very fine and is close be a real GPS. Address searching is getting better, but there is still a lot to do here. E.g. free text search (please donate) and correct use of the map data. |
[2012-12-07] A Google User: If only you provide other way to pay I love this app. I love the effort. I will pay if I allowed to use conventional internet banking. |
[2012-12-07] A Google User: Cannot search house numbers It's good for viewing. Address search is a joke. It can't find any house number in California. House numbers shows up fine on OSM website but not in this app. Not sure why they want to charge you for something that doesn't work. |
[2012-12-05] A Google User: Nice Works Brazil cities maps. |
[2012-11-30] A Google User: Response to "One major flaw" When looking at the map, long-press where you want to start; tap the resulting long/lat "speech bubble"; choose "Show Route From Here". |
[2012-11-30] A Google User: 5star 5star |
[2012-11-25] A Google User: O melhor offline (The best offline ) O melhor sistema offline que eu já vi, com suporte a favoritos, e até rotas, tudo offline. Muito fácil baixar os mapas também |
[2012-11-25] A Google User: One major flaw Cannot be used for planning routes because it relies on GPS to set the start point. However, what if you are indoors, or will be starting somewhere different. eg; just want to see the route between two arbitrary locations. This is a very common use case. Please add a "set as start point" button along side "set as destination", or provide some other way of setting start location manually. Would give at least 4 stars otherwise. |
[2012-11-25] A Google User: The best among free. The best free map and navigation I've tried. |
[2012-11-24] A Google User: Black screen than crash You did something wrong in the last build. |
[2012-11-24] A Google User: Great and Useful Never found an offline navigation app that's as useful and efficient. I wish there was an option to use the compass for heading in the drive mode. Other than that, it's a perfect app. |
[2012-11-23] A Google User: Good program with severe shortcomings Downloaded this morning and gave it a spin. Navigation was poor - gave incorrect voice instructions at two roundabouts though clearly marked on map. Maps themselves though are a joy to use, both for car and for walking - clearly OSM maps are superior to Google maps. However the program desperately needs a clear manual. I have been unable to figure out how to delete the destination I input, and while experimenting I got all fuel stations displayed on the map and now cannot get rid of them!! With a little more work and especially a tutorial or manual (including how to get rid things as well as how to enter them!!!) this will be a 5 star app. |
[2012-11-22] A Google User: Best Navigation Program I have used 100% Better and easier than my Garmin GSX 60 gps, get familiar with menu layout and you will be blown away. I Like to plan long trips on my PC using MapSouse or google maps and covert too gpx file using GPSBable (free prog) , Connect phone to pc and drop routes into osmand> tracks folder, disconnect phone on map page click menu Directions>GPX files> select one of your routes and click follow or you can just show route on map and follow route,( fine for cycling). Brill Progam worth every penny for osmand+ and more keep up good work. |
[2012-11-21] A Google User: Perfect until V1.00 release Great until V1.00 update. Version 1.00 always shows your maps one as day out of date. You download a USA state because it shows in blue rather than green (currently up-to-date). Say to the right it shows 08.11.2012, you download it and it installs as an update. Now your version shows 07.11.2012. Always shows in blue even if it is current. Also the elevation maps seems to be missing. Note only the regional maps seems to have this flaw. The other downloads such as voice, etc show true. This is still a BETA.. |
[2012-11-20] A Google User: Better This is the Better ever offline navigation tool:)thanks guys!!!!! |
[2012-11-20] A Google User: Infuriating!!! So close yet so far away. A native OSM viewer which will use on-line tiles or download tiles for off-line use. If only. Using on-line maps, WHY DOES A MAP "UPDATE" REPLACE MORE RECENT TILES WITH ONES THAT ARE MONTHS OLD, OFTEN REMOVING DETAIL PREVIOUSLY SHOWN? Is the app using a proxy cache? The OSM web service is up to date, it's not a Mapnik issue! Please, please fix this. Jelly Bean on SGS3, but it was same on ICS. |
[2012-11-19] A Google User: Officially the Best offline maps. Period |
[2012-11-19] A Google User: Absolutely great app!!! Works well offline. I was just on my Sunday walk in a place that I was not familiar with. I carried my Nexus 7 with me and it was like using a paper map, but better as it is vector based and coverage is just awesome. I would have given it full 5 stars, if the user interface was prettier. It is functional now, but all keys and elements on UI are total crap... It works anyway...so, go and get it! |
[2012-11-19] A Google User: Sleep mode often fails I like this app but it has a very annoying bug. Even if one turns on sleep mode, GPS turns off when it goes to background. Sometimes background navigation service stuck and it is not possible to turn off. Also, sometimes map tiles seems to be shifted and looks like if the road were broken. |
[2012-11-19] A Google User: Best of best I have mad fun with this app, tracing my late nights way home. I love the openstreetmap integration which is very precise and far better than googlemaps for finding the true local treasures of north europe. This is FLOSS at its best!! |
[2012-11-19] A Google User: The best Has to be the best out their. Its even better on my new S2 phone, very fast and accurate. I will have to get the pro version again. Fantastic not having to rely on a reliable internet connection. |
[2012-11-19] A Google User: Mapping Indonesia Great apps, simple n lite, and most important, I could contribute on mapping some Indonesia area. |
[2012-11-19] A Google User: Best osm app |
[2012-11-19] A Google User: This app is just awesome |
[2012-11-19] A Google User: Messy organized favorites Osmand is very good app, but it is not perfect. It need better organized Favorites. Now favorites looking very messy. Specially if I write several sentences (like sightseeing information about some object, opening hours, etc.). And it is confusing because all favorites are same yellow star. I don't know which favorite is restaurant, sightseeing, cafe, or something else. You should see Locus app. They have great favorites (they have separately box for name of favorites, for description, and you can choose different icon for each favorite). Very good organized, and very easy for finding what you need. For now, I like Osmand more. Because you have everything on one place. And app is opening fast. But if I need some information fast, from my favorites, it is really looking messy. Here is suggestion: When we write new favorite, now is two boxes (one for name, and one for category). Please, put one more box for description of favorites. And when we click on some favorite on map, it would look much nicer in big window (like you already have for wikipedia offline). |
[2012-11-18] A Google User: Best so far Easily the best map/routing app I found so far. Not perfect yet, and the user interface quickly becomes confusing with all the plugin options, but it's also still under development. |
[2012-11-18] A Google User: Dreadful UI. Trying to find a good Open Street Map viewer? Don't try this one. Everything is hard work and tells you to enable this, that or the other, even to do an address search (for which you have to tell it which country you are in!) Even getting a map to display is a trial. |
[2012-11-18] A Google User: Just the best Best maps on android |
[2012-11-18] A Google User: Good and useful We never get lost with this app. |
[2012-11-17] A Google User: Ok as a viewer for OpenStreetMap Useful as a way of viewing OpenStreetMap from an app instead of a browser, once you've got it set up. This app is badly in need of a tutorial and some more sensible default settings. Without this, it's very unintuitive to carry out even the most basic of functions - as an example, to view a map, you need to go into the Plugins menu and enable online maps - otherwise you just get a grey screen. |
[2012-11-16] A Google User: Great Offline maps very detailed and accurate. Very high number of points of interest. Quite quick to get used to. |
[2012-11-14] A Google User: Must have Best of my about 10 tested navi apps. |
[2012-11-14] A Google User: That's better. After a failed initial load, this is very impressive once you guess your way around the features. |
[2012-11-14] A Google User: Love it I went to Brazil and it worked treat considering its a free offline map. Very impressed.....although can be a bit complex to ubderstand at first glance |
[2012-11-12] A Google User: bugreport first: osmand is really good. i found a bug. osmand uses the internet to do the routing, which is ok. But is not ok to disrespect the no datatransfer setting via GSM of android, espacially when roaming. This cost was unnecessary for me. Please try to fix this (or tell me I am stupit and how to use osmand correctly. |
[2012-11-10] A Google User: Translations Vers 0.8.3 on SG Note Nov 10 2012 Great app however looking at the Map of Thailand downloaded from the App there are names there that appear to be German or Euro translation - Can this be fixed in future upgrades? Kaaycchnburii Phathyaa Nnthburii Pthumthaanii Smuthpraakaar |
[2012-11-09] A Google User: Great |
[2012-11-08] A Google User: Detailed maps, open source The biggest advantage is the level of detail presented in the maps. It navigates okay, though you have to keep an eye on the map. Search is painfully bad, and the rendered maps are not nice to look at. |
[2012-11-08] A Google User: needs a UI overhaul Great for cycle maps! UI on phones is a pain, scrolling on maps is jaggy. Surprisingly everything works better on a tablet (bigger buttons), but graphics and UI need an update, this feels like something that was ported from uiq3, and that's bad. Still recommend it though, It gets the job done, lots of sources, tons of functions. |
[2012-11-08] A Google User: Usefull. But offline maps updates are quite rare. |
[2012-11-07] A Google User: It is the best gps application which i found for Android. Everything you may want from such kind of software is here. The offline maps are the best. |
[2012-11-05] A Google User: Bad prerformance The rendering performance is very bad -- for the Tokyo offline maps on a Galaxy Nexus, at least. Unfortunately, Google Maps does not allow Tokyo in offline mode, so I am forced to use this app. |
[2012-10-31] A Google User: Well it's free.. I have been testing it for 2 weeks so far. It works but I do not understand the logic how the track is recalculated when you change course for any reason. It creates funny loops, u-turns sometimes for no apparent reason. |
[2012-10-30] A Google User: Good for my needs What can I say, this app has everything I wish for. I like that a GPX track can be overlayed onto the map, this allows me to plan my bike ride on the computer, then upload the GPX track to the phone and use OSMAnd to display it. Offline maps finally work as well, though a bit sluggish. My old phone was too slow to render them, my Galaxy Nexus handles them fine. The only other feature I am using is having a list of favorite points, which also just works. Keep up the good work. |
[2012-10-28] A Google User: Failed to calculate route over 150km Overall, it is a good app and works well within city. When trying to find a route from Ottawa to Montreal (>150km), it failed to calculate a route. After 10min, I cancelled the navigation as it did not return a route. MapFactor Navigator is better as it finds a route for the same navigation. Another issue is big storage for the map; only Ontario and Quebec provinces (Canada) takes ~1G whereas MapFactor Navigator takes only ~0.5G for the entire Canada! |
[2012-10-27] A Google User: Great app Sometimes routing is not as good as with paid apps, but there's no other free app that beats osmand A++ |
[2012-10-26] A Google User: A must have Definitely a great app. And it does not crash! |
[2012-10-26] A Google User: But Im buying this |
[2012-10-23] A Google User: No real bicycle map I like the offline functionality, but the bicycle map is completely unusable. Everything is colored in black and purple, so it's quite hard to see anything. Popular bike paths, which show up on the web site, are not emphasized in any way. |
[2012-10-20] A Google User: Restrictions It's opensource. Stop stupid restrictions! |
[2012-10-18] A Google User: It cannot calculate long routes It's simply does not do anything if you want it to calculate a route for a destination that is couple of hundred kms away. I've waited for 15 minutes once and got no result. |
[2012-10-17] A Google User: Non-functional Loaded twice, rebooted the device. No luck in viewing any map on line or off. No help at the developer website. |
[2012-10-17] A Google User: Awesome I tried this years ago and it wasn't very good, but I just tried it again and it's excellent! I'll probably end up getting the paid version ;) |
[2012-10-14] A Google User: Awesome, but... This app is awesome, functionality-wise, however, it imposes ridiculous restrictions considering it is an open-source project. More precisely, it will only allow you to update your offline maps a couple of times before it starts complaining that you're using the free version. |
[2012-10-12] A Google User: Great but lacking 3D navigation Probably the best free offline GPS app I've tried but needs a perspective mode for navigation. |
[2012-10-12] A Google User: Nice Good job! |
[2012-10-11] A Google User: Great! A bit of a learning curve to figure out, but a solid and robust app. |
[2012-10-10] A Google User: Excellent and improving... Pros: offline maps great for navigating with limited data plans; voice navigation works fairly well, but would like to see street names added to turn guidance (ex. "make left turn onto 145th St"). UI could use some improvement, as it takes a while to learn the features. I use this primarily for following gpx routes while cycling, but unfortunately the voice navigation feature is inconsistent for this purpose. Not sure if this is because of my weak smartphone gps, or the app. I want the app to direct me from my current location to the nearest point on the track and then navigate to the end without having to go back to the start point. This is especially useful if I forget to start the osmand navigation at the beginning of a ride. But all in all an excellent app for offline map viewing and for convoluted cycling routes. |
[2012-10-08] A Google User: Best offline mapping app so far This app is fantastic. Tried a bundle of apps for their offline ability, but this I've takes the cake. It has amazing offline navigation, and graphs if statistics and search features. Really blew me away the features it offers. I never write reviews, but Garrett using this for ten days I thought I had to. Many thanks to the developers. :) |
[2012-10-07] A Google User: Maps are not updated for Saudi Arabia and the other gulf region. |
[2012-10-07] A Google User: Maps for Australia are worse Since last year, the Australian maps have lost most of the street names in my suburb of freshwater 2096. Since I walked these streets and added the names to osm, I don't know how this could be happening so I'm going to guess bad data or a bug? |
[2012-10-04] A Google User: Offline maps not loaded occasionally appears, but everything else working. KMA google maps. |
[2012-10-01] A Google User: search needs to go better.. why choose from options given by system while searching? need to have search like google maps...otherwise beautiful.. |
[2012-10-01] A Google User: Nice Job Aside from slow map rendering (what do I expect for free?) & not the prettiest of graphics, this app has met expectations better than any other program of its type, that I found. It actually loaded (Mapfactor's newest build crashes on my htc one v). It includes Peru (sygic and navfree do not). It was more straight forward than some of the others. It is free (some want horrendous $ for their app! or u have to pay for voice nav or other features you would think of as standard). Works in airplane mode. Maverick seems online only, not offline. Many of my searches only led to offline maps, not offline navigation. Simply put, this app impressed me from the start & functioned as I expected it to, as someone who is semi-experienced with gps stuff. I didn't have to dig around to learn it. It showed me the map I downloaded, let me save a favorite w/ an indicator, showed me where I was, and navigated me to the point I wanted, all while w/ no data, wifi, or radio (airplane mode). For functionality, usability, and being/doing what I expected it to be/do, I gave it 4 starts. I gave it the 5th star because it delivered, when the others did not. |
[2012-10-01] A Google User: Brilliant Working brilliantly again after recent updates 5 star. |
[2012-10-01] A Google User: good job! maps are accurate and it works very well! kudos! |
[2012-09-30] A Google User: Works the world over! You will always have maps with this app no matter where you go in the world. |
[2012-09-30] A Google User: Best Best free app for android |
[2012-09-30] A Google User: We need 3D.... That's all we need now. |
[2012-09-30] A Google User: Thanks Needs perfomance improvement |
[2012-09-30] A Google User: Offline maps are awful Downloaded Germany,Austria and Holland maps for a trip and it was useless, couldn't pin point the current location most of the time, failed to load streets, very very slow and disappointing. |
[2012-09-29] A Google User: Could be improved but.. The maps take time to become recognized, i had to turn off the app after download or it said no map downloaded. The routes picked were not at all the best, but if i was somewhere unfamiliar without a data connection, i would manage with this app just fine. Thank you. |
[2012-09-28] A Google User: Brilliant Offline open source map, very detailed. |
[2012-09-28] A Google User: Not true open source, but not bad I've never seen software claim to be released as Open Source, yet be deliberately crippled! Sure, some software companies will have a basic open version and add more features to a proprietary branch, but this app actually stops you downloading more than a few maps. Maps which are from a FREE source! (If I was a developer, I'd be tempted to fork their code & remove the restriction) To be fair, it is pretty good at what it does. Please just don't cripple it by things like limiting access to free maps! |
[2012-09-27] A Google User: Bike tourers dream tool Overall an excellent app. I only wish the driving directions would use street names for turns instead of way points (see direction list) . I hope the devs will include elevation profiles for directions as this would be really useful for cyclists. |
[2012-09-26] A Google User: Excellent! Maps in osm clarity anywhere you go!!! Wonderful!!! Keep up the good work!!! |
[2012-09-26] A Google User: One of the best apps ever Are you traveling, give it a try. This app is amazing. |
