WikiSherpa is a mash-up of Wikitravel, Wikipedia, and OpenStreetMap, the open-source world map. Use it to search and save Wikitravel destination guides to your phone, and plot all their sights, hotels, etc. on the map - even while offline - for free!
You can even download an entire snapshot of Wikitravel (and its associated Wikipedia pages) to your device for offline use, and offline maps as well.

[2012-12-13] A Google User: Great! The wikitravel caching is stupendous. You can easily cache THE ENTIRETY of wikitravel to take with you wherever you go. Amazin. Map caching is pretty spotty. My caches disappeared after a day's use or so and were never complete with all tiles. This is a secondary feature, though, so I'm still willing to give 5 stars. In most places, google maps can do the map caching for you just fine. |

[2012-08-17] A Google User: Superb, especially for offline info Used this app all over europe. The ability to download the data before you go away allowing use when you don't have net access in any place you might go was the main thing. Used mainly to the read the text information (Understand, Talk, See, Do, Eat, etc) which is from wikitravel. So it's as up-to-date as wikitravel is. Can't comment on the map feature as you have to cache them separately. As far as the wikitravel data - In general this was excellent! It functioned as a replacement for a guidebook. I used it to decide between several different places to go. Also, the get-in get-around info, i.e what bus/metro to take was spot on. |

[2012-08-16] A Google User: offline maps do not work Great idea for a travel app though selecting downloaded offline maps shuts the app down. Also happens periodically for online mapping... using ICS 4.0.4 |
