[2013-11-05] A Google User: The best Japanese dictionary for Android! Notepad backup and restore has been broken for a while. Been trying to transfer my notepad from one device to another... |
[2013-10-30] A Google User: great app this is the best Japanese dictionary I've seen. the only issue seems to be that it's not possible to move the dictionaries into the SD card and it greatly hogs the space of my phone memory. |
[2013-10-26] A Google User: Very useful dictionary |
[2013-10-18] A Google User: Best dictionary Awesome dictionary.. any updates? |
[2013-10-10] A Google User: Best Japanese English dictionary Really like the phrase examples and that it can also use romaji search. |
[2013-09-26] A Google User: Simply Amazing! I dont usually rate & review apps, but this is a first, i simply had to do it. After hours and days of trial and error, finally found an app that gives me a proper english to romaji translation and many more options with offline usage to boot. This is just perfect! |
[2013-09-14] A Google User: Lightwight, offline, useful, reliable Nothing much that one can complain about. Totally offline, shows examples of how to form sentences, and it even breaks down words within these sample sentences so you can check on words you're unsure of. 一番でござる。 |
[2013-08-22] A Google User: すごい! Great dictionary, large and accurate. |
[2013-08-15] A Google User: Decent, but UI dated Could use some UI fixes, but it's very useful already! Thank you! |
[2013-08-13] A Google User: No more updates to this project/app? I love it SNF would like more features or more Japanese sentence examples added to the files. I'd be willing to donate for it as well. Thank You |
[2013-08-12] A Google User: The best The best japanese dict in the market, offline, and free, good even for beginner in japanese like me |
[2013-08-06] A Google User: Excellent, always ready offline dictionary I used aedict with Kanji Draw when I was in Japan and looking up words was incredibly fast. Aedict isn't clogged with useless basic info, and it's how it should be. Some dictionaries that aedict uses lack stroke orders, but it's a small loss |
[2013-08-02] A Google User: Ohhhmaiiigoodness!! I only write a review for apps that are exceptionally well. This one is absolutely amazing! You can add cards to your notepad and THEN quiz yourself on them. This is what I was looking for in JED (which I'll still use) but didn't have. Great job!! |
[2013-07-25] A Google User: Almost perfect World just need an update to use a Holo based theme. But otherwise really nice and useful. Helped me many times during my time in Japan! |

[2013-05-30] A Google User: Great Use this daily. Handy quick reference. |
[2013-05-21] A Google User: kanipad Can anyone tell me how to use kanjipad? The only thing I see when I install the app and the dictionaries is basic word search. And I downloaded all the dictionaries but there are no options for quiz, kanjipad.. |
[2013-05-19] A Google User: Very handy for those studying Japanese This is a great app to have if you are studying Japanese. It's also good to have with you when visiting Japan. All the dictionary data is stored on the phone so you don't even need a data plan. |
[2013-03-29] A Google User: Too good A must have for all japanese learners... |
[2013-03-13] A Google User: I like the this.... |
[2013-03-10] A Google User: Best japanese dictionary now Recommend for everyone |
[2013-03-08] A Google User: Fantastic! I have tried many Japanese dictionaries and this is by far the best one. I love how it can break down and explain sentences. |
[2013-02-14] A Google User: Accurate... But the downloader is very buggy. |
[2013-02-09] A Google User: The Best Japanese Dict. I reccommend this app. for anyone who's studying Japanese. |
[2013-01-11] A Google User: Very Good, But... Problems: Notepad Quiz only shows Kanji. Settings should be able to change to only Romanji or Kana quiz. Good things: Example sentences, quizzes, and conjugation examples. |
[2012-12-22] A Google User: Great dictionary Great app, very useful. Can search kanji by radical or by romaji. Very convenient |
[2012-12-19] A Google User: Best japanese dictionary now Recommend for everyone |
[2012-12-17] A Google User: Great dictionary This app is really wonderful and easy to use. I use this every time I study Japanese and I find it really helpful. I'm really happy it's free and made so well |
[2012-12-11] A Google User: help need help couse my android shows emty squares instead of japan |
[2012-12-08] A Google User: Good but could be better Very happy with kanji search by radical and possibility to check the kanji meaning and examples after finding it, but the interface is not easy to use on a tablet. No Home button, and a lack of a global menu make it really hard to use as a tool for readig |
[2012-12-07] A Google User: どうも有難う御座います Thank you for making this wonderful app. It's helping me a lot in my japanese language learning. Especially, the kanji drawing recognition in addition to starts with and ends with functions. I use these a lot. Thanks again. |
[2012-12-02] A Google User: How to use kanjipad? How do I get the kanjipad? |
[2012-11-28] A Google User: Could u please add more options to the quiz feature: correct answers stats., blackboard to practice kanji on, etc... |
[2012-11-27] A Google User: Awesome app Pure, useful genius. |
[2012-11-20] A Google User: Greate app! |
[2012-11-16] A Google User: Awesome Japanese dictionary I love the kanji lookup features and the various example sentences. The only thing keeping it from a perfect five is that it needs conjugations for the verbs and so forth. Hence I suggest you use this alongside JED |
[2012-11-01] A Google User: Kmus Hebat...!! |
[2012-10-30] A Google User: にやあ Only one problem, when I looked up meow, it told me this: "にやあ". But when I looked up にやあ, it said no results. ??? Otherwise very good. |
[2012-10-22] A Google User: great job!!!! useful application for every one. i love this!! |
[2012-10-09] A Google User: Help! Dic file cannot load New ICS phone with 14 Gig external available but warns not enough mem then hangs. Tried all kinds of storage settings. Used to install effortlessly in smaller old Android 2.2 phone. |
[2012-10-08] A Google User: The best! Im majoring in japanese language, and this is a must have app! |
[2012-10-07] A Google User: THE BEST Hands down the best Japanese dictionary for Android. You can use it offline, and it's free. What more could you ask for?! I totally and wholeheartedly recommend. |
[2012-10-04] A Google User: Aedict Real timesaver. Takes the place of denshi jibiki costing hundreds. Navigation could been somewhat improved, but nothing else comes close. |
[2012-10-02] A Google User: regret too many to download, it takes a long time to use this app |
[2012-09-28] A Google User: The best! |
[2012-09-26] A Google User: my favorite app until... ...I switched to SII and the example sentences no longer show. please fix! |
[2012-09-24] A Google User: Fantastic, just what I was looking for. I wanted something I can copy+paste kanji to get a kana definition. This is perfect. |
[2012-09-22] A Google User: Almost a good dictionary This is the fullest featured E-J dictionary I have been able to find at this point. Has example sentences with furigana and links to kanji (love that!). Gets points off for its interface (why do we have to specify if we're searching from Japanese or English? Could use some overall pollish, see "Japanese" in iOS for some advice.) Also loses a star for its relevance in searches, just search something like "face" or "love" and see what the top results are... Overall has great potential, but not there yet. |
[2012-09-22] A Google User: Superb! It's a must-have for learning Japanese! ♥ |
[2012-09-11] A Google User: Great dictionary This is the best electronic Japanese dictionary I've found, app or otherwise |
[2012-09-05] A Google User: Thanks (^-^)v I love this app,and It's really great!!!!! |
[2012-08-28] A Google User: Practically flawless I can't really think of anything bad about it. Maybe I could wish for a button taking one straight back to the search page. When you've been looking at the details of a kanji or something, you need to press the back-button several times to make a new search. That said, it's really the only thing I can really think of. Brilliant app! I use it several times every day! |
[2012-08-25] A Google User: Text to speech, speech to text It will be fantastic if there is text to speech button, e.g. link to SVOX engine And also speech search feature would be nice |
[2012-08-20] A Google User: Lifesaver I've used this a lot when having to look up a lot of words fast. The numerous example sentences help me decide on which word to use. LOVE the kanji look up part. Saves me a lot of time. 4 stars because sometimes there's too many results that are useless whereas a traditonal dictionary will give me the perfect word and that word wasn't even a part of the result choices I was given. But still, best app by far. And offline dictionaries? Yup, love it. You won't hear me complaining about a free dict. this good. |
[2012-08-20] A Google User: Cool! Just a cool Japanese dictionary!! |
[2012-08-09] A Google User: Simply the best dictionary Title says it all |
[2012-08-09] A Google User: My favorite I love it, it's the only one with kana. Japanese teacher caught a few grammar errors but nothing that will stray you beyond repair. Probably dictionary sources' fault anyway. |
[2012-08-02] A Google User: Great Very solid! |
[2012-07-27] A Google User: Great dictionary Very helping and free! |
[2012-07-20] A Google User: Fna great app |
[2012-07-14] A Google User: The best Japanese learning tool around! It's everything I need to explore the language. The Analyze, example sentences, and verb conjugation features: brilliant. The notes organization and JLPT/Joyo quizes: icing on the cake! Above all, the search key is incredibly polished and works whether you enter Japanese text, Romanji, or an English word. Couple this with your favorite audio language course, and you have a deep, rich Japanese learning experience. This is one of the best thought out, most usable, most useful, and most used apps on my phone! |
[2012-07-11] A Google User: Best dictionary for university students |
[2012-06-30] A Google User: JLPT Kanji list How can I see JLPT kanji list. |
[2012-06-30] A Google User: Can't live without this! |
[2012-06-25] A Google User: Complicated I didnt like |
[2012-06-18] A Google User: Very useful! Using this app., I can learn & practice reading and writing Japanese words and characters with example sentences that can be analyzed to detail each word's meaning, function and kanji that may be used to write it, I've been always looking for a Japanese app. just like zkanji in windows. Aedict is more than close enough for me, thank you! |
[2012-06-15] A Google User: Excellent Super handy! I use this all the time and it works offline when the dictionaries are installed. Love it. |
[2012-06-04] A Google User: Fantastic Great app. I love that it works offline. The kanji drawing recognition is a bit hit and miss, (basically converts drawing to SKIP), but otherwise excellent. |
[2012-05-17] A Google User: Very good Japanese dictionary and more! This is a very good Japanese dictionary, kanji search, kanji quizzes, and more. A good feature that would be helpful is putting a note next to Japanese words that are common to use because there are so many ways to say one word and some are not common to use. There should also be sentence examples for Kanjis (some do not have sentence examples). And continue to update the vocabulary including katakana words. Otherwise, this dictionary has helped me a lot in class. Thank you! |
[2012-05-14] A Google User: Excellent! Does all it says it would. Excellent resource for learning Japanese. Other apps come and go but AEDict stays on my phone. |
[2012-05-12] A Google User: The best mobile Japanese <> English dictionary I've only been using this app for a week now, on the recommendation of a friend but I'd have to say that this is the best dictionary app I've ever used. The user interface is extremely simple, and the number of features that it has is astounding. Don't know the Japanese for an English word? Search for it in English. Don't know the English for a Japanese word? Search for it in Japanese (Kana, Kanji or Romaji). Wanna know the correct usage of a Japanese word in a sentence? It gives you examples. Wanna know the etymology of a word? Hit analyse and it'll break down the word or phrase into individual characters and their meaning. The sheer amount of features in this app make it indispensable for anyone who is serious about learning Japanese. The only downside is that you might need a big memory card, as it has to download and store a lot of static dictionary files from The Internet to parse. |
[2012-05-09] A Google User: Search results are horrible I used Kotoba! on my old iPhone for a year, and it was fantastic. The results, and the order in which they were listed, made a lot of sense. However, when using Aedict, the results are really hit and miss, and I can't tell which word in the search result makes the most sense. It seems to search for the hiragana, or the kanji character, within its massive database and try to get a match that way, which means you get all sorts of hits. It doesn't really search for the word you're looking for. Aedict works. Make no mistake about it. It's certainly useful to have on my phone. However: 1) Kotoba! is far better. 2) When in doubt, I turn to the Rikaichan Add-on in Firefox, and look up my words there. The search results are better, and it's nicer to use. |
[2012-05-06] A Google User: Voice I would suggest three speakers of each word. I would not mind if it increased the file size. |
[2012-04-22] A Google User: This is such am awesome program! Awesome program, you can search for words using romaji or kanji, no Japanese keypad needed, and each word can display many many example sentences as well as the radical orders flute each kanji. You can study kanji from a list categorized as different levels (e.g. JLPT 5) or you can store the kanji you want to learn in the notepad feature and create a quiz using only words in your notepad. Very helpful for me as a reference, better than programs made for pc even. |
[2012-04-20] A Google User: Almost perfect World just need an update to use the ICS Holo theme. But otherwise really nice and useful. Helped me many times during my tune in Japan! |
[2012-04-15] A Google User: kotoba for android ? still the best Japanese dictionary for android (I think?) but needs more updates to iron out the labyrinthine ui. |
[2012-04-15] A Google User: 素晴らしい! By far the best Japanese dictionary for android, and it's free! Easy to search, easy to navigate, and excellent example sentences. I would have happily paid $20 for this. |
[2012-04-14] A Google User: The most complete dict for android! It has many useful tools like kanji search by drawing, analysis of the kanjis from any word. The best |
[2012-04-13] A Google User: Awesome! Simply, great for looking information on words or kanji! Could be better on the kanji stroke diagrams, but they're still great |
[2012-04-10] A Google User: awesome app but... sometimes it gives obscure, rarely used words or kanji as the first hit. other than that, probably the best jap<>eng dictionary =] |
[2012-04-09] A Google User: good stuff works well on htc sensation & xe, & previously on Samsung beam, very stable |
[2012-04-05] A Google User: Good |
[2012-03-31] A Google User: Best free app I've seen! I have a $500 Japanese electronic dictionary that I no longer use because of Aedict. This app is quite astonishing for a freebie. Cannot recommend highly enough. |
[2012-03-31] A Google User: Great dictionary, but many Kanji errors Excellent dictionary for learners, and can use input in English words or Japanese Romanji for known sounds. Kanji search is a great feature, especially the drawing input. But the Kanji dictionary still has many errors in stroke order, count, analysis, and definition, so user beware. Still five stars, but I'll watch for updates. |
[2012-03-26] A Google User: Nicholas (Xperia Pro) Been searching all over the Market for something like this. Awesome |
[2012-03-24] A Google User: Very handy Fantastically useful, especially the kanji recognition function. I just wish it was more able to recognize a kanji even if the stroke order isn't exactly right. I realize that's very hard to implement, though. |
[2012-03-22] A Google User: Useful dictionary :) aedict allows kanji handwriting recognition which is very useful. There are also a lot of sample sentences provided which help to aid my understanding and vocabulary . Strongly recommended. |
[2012-03-07] A Google User: Best The best dic I've ever had!! Very useful n easy to use!:) |
[2012-03-05] A Google User: Best Japanese dictionary Fantastic app, can't believe it's free. Good libry, intuitive to use, plus example sentences. On par with the iPod's "Kotoba!" app. Looking up kanji via handwriting is tricky, bordering on impossible, but that is actually nothing to do with the app. (btw I recommend GoKeyboard Japanese for normal input, and MultiLing for handwriting kanji) |
[2012-03-04] A Google User: Brilliant... ... couldn't have asked for a better dictionary. |
[2012-02-25] A Google User: Good, not perfect Two gripes: no way to look up kanji by radical, and poor stroke order feature. The JED app does both. But JED doesn't have example sentences like Aedict! I use both, but if they could be combined it would be perfect! |
[2012-02-09] A Google User: Amazing. This app has it all, and best of all its free! |
[2012-02-08] A Google User: Simply Amazing! I've been using this English-Japanese dictionary app for almost 2 years, and it has everything I could of possibly asked for. Thank You! |
[2012-01-31] A Google User: Nice complete app Very good app with lots of functionality. information on kanji is great :) |
[2012-01-29] A Google User: Very useful Highly recommended app I have tried many of them, this one suits me well. It has the Romaji function, and its dictionaries have most of the specific words I am looking for. Adding a translation ability will make this app unbeatable among free ones. Give a try, you won't be disappointed! |
[2012-01-27] A Google User: Perfect app! |
[2012-01-25] A Google User: Great App Just amazing functionality, from kanji recognition to radical analysis, everything useful. Thanks to the developer! |
[2012-01-22] A Google User: Worthy of praise. Beautifully done application. |
[2011-12-29] A Google User: I love this ap! I have nothing bad to say, does what it says. Had it on both phones ( Eris/incredible) just love it. Search for kanji works great. :) |
