Release notes: https://github.com/wiglenet/wigle-wifi-wardriving/blob/master/TODO
For wifi and cell towers to be mapped, you must wait for your device to determine the current location, via GPS or Network-location.
On map: the circles are Wifi, squares are cell towers. Light colors are networks seen before, purple ones are new for the local database.
If you have trouble logging in, or have suggestions, send us an email to wigle-admin@wigle.net and we'll be happy to help out.
Needs "Reads Phone State" in order to tell if a phone call is in progress, to mute the audio (sounds and speech).
Files are available to help with a human translation to non-english languages. This was mostly a mechanical translation, because we obviously don't know all these languages. You can help to improve things by making pull requests at:
https://github.com/wiglenet/wigle-wifi-wardriving
or sending to wigle-admin@wigle.net
Keep on stumbling.

[2013-08-25] A Google User: Tabs are out of place on HTC One (fixed) I sent this issue in to the devs and they fixed it! Now it looks great and still works just as well as ever! Thanks devs, keep the excellent work! Back up to 5 stars as promised! HTC One |
[2013-08-21] A Google User: Love this app Works very well on Samsung Galaxy S4 and ok on the HTC Thunderbolt. Would be great to integrate the bluetooth part in. Also would be nice to have a checkbox to have it start on bootup. Decoding base64 would be awesome, as well as packet capture from the managment frames it looks at. Possibly a widget too. Just some feedback from a heavy user. Great app! |
[2013-08-18] A Google User: Missing Tabs The tabs at the top are missing slightly so I cannot see what the tabs say. Apart from that it's good. Xperia Z phone. |
[2013-08-17] A Google User: average couldnt understand the app... |
[2013-07-18] A Google User: So bad. Destroyed my battery. 70 to 10 percent, under 4 hours just sitting at home. |
[2013-06-29] A Google User: Wigle Wifi Great |
[2013-06-22] A Google User: Rocking my stocks off! Yea... |
[2013-06-14] A Google User: Great but...... When I exit the app it leaves the GPS on. If I forget to go to settings and turn it off it drains the battery. Please clean up after yourself. If you turn it on, turn if off. |
[2013-06-08] A Google User: Become a bit better Don't uses googlemap, and don't plots out the bessids on the map, I miss a lot of functions like se AP on googlemaps in the app ui (and ability to press ap on map to see details). Frankly Wardrive is better, but that app misses a lot of other functions that this app has, so right now its bullshit and only functional when both apps is used. |
[2013-05-30] A Google User: Works well and uploads cleanly A nice little app to have on in the background while I commute. I have it set to read out new wifi, towers, and battery life every ten minutes. |
[2013-05-16] A Google User: Great when it stays open I have a Samsung Galaxy S Blaze on Tmobile and quite frequently it shows an error message saying that my sd card is not there when it is. I have reformatted the my sd card multiple times have even changed cards still does it. Other than that its a five star app. |
[2013-05-11] A Google User: Great wardriving app, could do with more Wigle integration The wardriving and mapping side works very well, but I'd like to see more use of the whole Wigle database - like being able to search it for an SSID, comparing my results with theirs etc. |
[2013-05-07] A Google User: Maps lack detail Map detail for driving public streets, not walking neighborhood. Difficult to separate different WiFi sources on map to locate. |
[2013-04-23] A Google User: Awesome Its a great app |
[2013-04-17] A Google User: Great work Love the app |
[2013-04-14] A Google User: good does what it says |
[2013-03-21] A Google User: No KML output I can keep exporting KML files until I am blue in the face but there isn't actually a .kml file in the Wigle directory. Tried uninstalling and installing again. I can get fine in the directory on my phone, so that's not the problem. |
[2013-03-06] A Google User: 3 *** Its okay |
[2013-02-27] A Google User: great exactly what im looking for. a plethora of customization options too!!! very pleasing. |
[2013-02-27] A Google User: But... Wificreampie is better then this app |
[2013-02-11] A Google User: Great wi-fi mapping app. Nice interface that works well. |
[2013-02-10] A Google User: Galaxy S2 Pretty good!!. |
[2013-01-30] A Google User: Meh. Not using Google Maps So its missing a ton of roads. Other then that solid app. |
[2013-01-21] A Google User: Great app Been using this app for over 3 years! Its easy to use so suits a wide range of uses from the novice to the pro.! |
[2012-12-23] A Google User: Needs night mode Good app, could use a night mode that darkens all colors for nighttime driving. |
[2012-11-26] A Google User: Works on g3, map waypoints too small The program works on the gs3, however the waypoints on the map are so small and cluttered online and offline it's kind of useless info. A bit better than the previous version. |
[2012-11-03] A Google User: Yuk Lousy feature set, good for driving geeks, bad for all others. |
[2012-10-01] A Google User: Almost Perfect I sought a NetStumbler type of app for Android, and this was the one most mentioned. After trying this out on a couple of commutes, the UI is quite impressive, and the settings offered are quite comprehensive and effective. I particularly appreciate the map view. The only issue I have with the map view is the 'lockon' feature, but it is easily disabled. The interface is quite straightforward and will seem familiar to NetStumbler users, although not precisely the same in the right way - it is laid out very well for a touch UI. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for lacking a few things I would've expected based on its overall capability. There is no easy way to call up previous runs, or display them in conjunction with the current runs. There is also no apparent way to extract old runs if you don't save them before you close the app. Exporting to KML is a superb feature. In all, an excellent tool for mapping and logging WAPs. |
[2012-09-28] A Google User: Excellent Love the app on my Phone db over 10k |
[2012-09-28] A Google User: . Apps that talk without asking irritate me |
[2012-09-17] A Google User: Awesome I love how detailed the data displayed is, awesome project. |
[2012-09-17] A Google User: Works |
[2012-09-15] A Google User: Export options need work This is a fascinating app. I've never done wardriving before, and with the N7 and this app its possible. I still need to learn my way around it but its really neat. Just needs more work. thankfully it can export into .kml format for easy viewing in Google Earth. However it only exports files on the internal storage, and you better have a file explorer app installed (I highly suggest Solid Explorer). Even then you still have to search for the files it exports as I guess the directory is hidden. Ridiculous. There *needs* to be an option to export to email and dropbox etc. Its not terribly accurate either however that may be due to the device itself. Maybe if I had an external antenna that might help but I dunno. For one thing it puts my own wifi network 3 houses up from mine when looking in google Earth. Most hotspots seemed to be misaligned by at least 20-40ft if you match wifi names to their buisnesses (i.e. McDonalds wifi). Again my N7 sat on the top of my dash so perhaps I need a much stronger antenna for more accurate results. Its an app that has a lot of promise but still needs work, especially the exporting. |
[2012-08-21] A Google User: Great Wardriving application I used to use netstumbler as I drove around in my truck years ago. Didn't have a GPS, but it would make a noise when a new network was found. Normally unencrypted back then :-). Now WiFi networks are everywhere. And with this in my pocket it is so easy to stumble networks. |
[2012-08-12] A Google User: Maps? Droid3 maps don't work. Other functions are great. |
[2012-08-06] A Google User: War walking & war cycling Used to leave my laptop on when I left work, this makes exploring much easier and opens up a future using wifi alongside gps for navigation. Get out walking, it's more just a driving app now. |
[2012-07-28] A Google User: Export to sdcard only, prob with nexus 7 Title self explanatory. I have many more features would make this a gem. |
[2012-07-12] A Google User: Ryan I love it Only ask for ability to start with a new map then import all my records and overlay them. Also the map is cooler if i had satellite view option |
[2012-06-30] A Google User: Very cool A+ |
[2012-06-29] A Google User: Works well on Lenovo a1 |
[2012-06-27] A Google User: So far, this is the only war-driving app that works for me (having a Motorola Citrus doesn't help). It works very well, and I like how small it is. |
[2012-06-26] A Google User: wow! big improvement thanx for the great app! |
[2012-06-23] A Google User: Cool but.... Not able to shut down app ???? What do i do for privacy? ....oh right...uninstall....sorry |
[2012-06-21] A Google User: Awesome Great app. Useful in placing wireless routers. |
[2012-06-01] A Google User: Great app, but could be improved One issue is the map alignment. In parts of my city, the whole map is shifted a bit so it looks like I'm riding beside the roads and the networks don't get placed in exactly the right spot. I also noticed that even after unchecking "show current networks only", it still only shows networks in the current run. There needs to be a way to show all information from the database on the map. Other than that, it works great and it's fairly accurate. |
[2012-05-30] A Google User: Works cool I would reccomend it |
[2012-05-21] A Google User: Ideal app This is an ideal app for mapping out dead spots |
[2012-05-21] A Google User: Helping discover how wireless we are becoming. Excellent app, well behaved. I'm providing data in my rural commute area, nice to see those entries for which my tiny efforts established a record. |
[2012-05-20] A Google User: Love it Still trying to learn it but I love how it works. Thanks!!!!! |
[2012-05-20] A Google User: Amazing The GPS logging of network locations provides insights into the world you wouldn't normally get. I've found more than 500 networks in my home town already. |
[2012-05-18] A Google User: Can u create an app for the mrkt that every1 will enjoy! This is jst an idea for ur war-tools selection? Warviewer to intercept cctv 2.4ghz frequency. |
[2012-05-14] A Google User: It wouldnt shut up! I turned off all the sounds and it still wouldn't shut up! |
[2012-05-13] A Google User: Crashes on map, useless Galaxy player 4.0 |
[2012-05-11] A Google User: Awesome |
[2012-05-04] A Google User: Wifi. #2 Ok |
[2012-05-04] A Google User: Awesome Works well only problem is since the update I can't get the ssid filter working |
[2012-05-01] A Google User: Wigle is where it's at. Would be nice to download a radius cache of x miles around me. In the others. I'll like to download what others have found and atore in my local db. |
[2012-04-25] A Google User: Love it Great app |
[2012-04-25] A Google User: Easy to use. Great app. Wish it was a little smoother when viewing the map afterwards. |
[2012-04-24] A Google User: Seems to work very well however it does not shut down when you try to close it.Also drains an extremely excesssive amount of battery power very fast. |
[2012-04-14] A Google User: Best on the market! I have done several reviews on different wardriving apps and the features in wigle blow all the rest away! Well done! |
[2012-04-12] A Google User: Amazing app, like it 2 much. I wish if they increase the interval time to mire than 1 minute |
[2012-04-11] A Google User: While I prefer Wi-Fi Analyzer this app works perfectly and does exactly what its supposed to. I like the look and few extra options more but 5 stars. |
[2012-04-09] A Google User: Game Changer I have been using this for a few months now. It completely changed wardriving for me. Sure, you get more results with a laptop and antenna but the convenience of having this on my phone makes it all worth while. I strongly recommend this app to anyone into wardriving. |
[2012-03-24] A Google User: Ze bomb The wardriving app I was looking for. Got all one could ask for. Netstumbler for android. Rulz. |
[2012-03-24] A Google User: Very cool Works perfect on my ZTE warp |
[2012-03-23] A Google User: Excellent for wardriving PLUG INTO POWER while wardeiving. For all those unfamiliar, yes it will use a lot of battery it is constantly scanning wifi and gps. If you don't want your house wifi to show up don't use it near your house. :) excellent app / website / community. I mapped the majority of my hometown with a friend. |
[2012-03-22] A Google User: Nice app for information security professional |
[2012-03-21] A Google User: Excellent! This would be even better if we had an option to auto-stop scanning when unplugged. Still the best war-driving app around! |
[2012-03-19] A Google User: exports Would be nice if u could make the kml exports with categories like "Wardrive" app. Eg. wep/wpa/open and stuff, for better use with GoogleEarth... |
[2012-03-10] A Google User: good little app The last time i used something like this was in the early 2000's with netstumbler. this app integrates all those features, and more and doesn't have the same issues with chipset. I have it working on both my phone and tablet and it is working great! |
[2012-03-10] A Google User: Yrs Gf |
[2012-03-06] A Google User: Features request Please add the ability to pre-cache the map of the city and the ability to pre-plot all the found networks in the city to determine which streets still need scanning while out and about (without internet access) |
[2012-03-06] A Google User: Since it tells me anyway Since my phone will tell me regardless, might as well upload the info it collects |
[2012-02-26] A Google User: Okay still needs refinement Most of the seen wifi are 100 meters in any direction. Keeps all duplicates in database instead of strongest signals. Does not calculate location. |
[2012-02-23] A Google User: I love wardriving Best tool available for the job. Fast, reliable and packed with all kind of settings and features! |
[2012-02-14] A Google User: happy camper works very well. exports csv, so easy to import to other progams. though would like better/more/selective and intutitive exporting |
[2012-02-11] A Google User: Helped me pick which WIFI channel to use! This is an excellent app. I live in a block of flats and share my internet connection with my sister who lives down the corridor. She never gets a good signal because of all the interference from other people's WIFI networks. I wanted a way to find out what channels other people were using and this app was perfect - turned on my GPS, walked down the corridor and back, and then exported the data as a CSV file. Chose a channel nobody else was using and it's a vast improvement! Many thanks to the devs. Would rate 5 stars but the app seems to be using battery after it's been closed, so uninstalling until fixed (SGS2). |
[2012-02-10] A Google User: Helpful app. Shows a ton of helpful wifi information. Can't see what antenna I'm connected to, need to use the built in app for that. |
[2012-02-03] A Google User: Works great on SGS2 Waht can i tell more, it just works perfectly well on my Samsung Galaxy S2. Start to think back about Netstumbler. |
[2012-01-12] A Google User: Upload details of my phones wifi to them??? Uninstalled |
[2012-01-07] A Google User: Best in class Friendly developers, stable code. More much more to ask for. |
[2012-01-01] A Google User: Works well, Galaxy Note As good as netstumbler ever was on the PC, but with the added bonus of being with you on your phone. |
[2011-12-26] A Google User: Very nice Thanks for this application! |
[2011-12-24] A Google User: Why Does this app need permissions to read phone call state |
[2011-12-22] A Google User: Best Wardriving App I've Used Smart UI, plenty of options, and very stable. |
[2011-12-22] A Google User: Great app for tech user Probably too complicated for casual user, but offers an extremely powerful and flexible for an involved user |
[2011-12-21] A Google User: Me Does not kill. Does not allow deletion of select wifi sites - ie mine. Continued to operate after killed. |
[2011-12-21] A Google User: Best app I love this app. It's fast in detecting networks. You can export all info. |
[2011-12-21] A Google User: Great wardriving app Fun and useful wardriving app. Good amount of settings to tweak and devs are nice folks to deal with. It can export the DB to KML for viewing on Google Maps which is pretty awesome, too. |
[2011-12-21] A Google User: Love it. Works great. for all the people complaining about it not exiting hit the exit in the menu. |
[2011-12-10] A Google User: So much fun! I have been riding my bicycle with my phone in my back pocket. My goal is to trace out every street in my city. |
[2011-12-08] A Google User: Best app in class. |

[2011-11-01] A Google User: This is the one. Makes wardriving like pacman. |
[2011-10-30] A Google User: Perfect app for wardriving. What a difference with the way i was doing it 5 years ago. |
[2011-10-29] A Google User: Thanks for the update! I now have access to all of my previously found points. I have wanted that for years since I have changed stumbling rigs many times. |
[2011-10-21] A Google User: Nice an easy A good way to get started wardriving |
