WiFiAutoConnect (v. 1.18) Разработано greenRobotDev |
WiFiAutoConnect is now a service. If the service is started Wi-Fi will be activated if necessary and scans the environment for hotspots. If several Wi-Fi signals are detected, the service selects the strongest wireless network that is configured in Android, and activates the connection.
If you change your position and if you come closer to another stronger hotspot, then the service will activate this WiFi network.
Warning: There may be problems if you are currently on the border between the wireless signals. Then it may happen that the service permanently changes the Wi-Fi networks. For that I have no solution, yet.
All information will be displayed in the notification bar. If you select the entry in the notification list, a configuration menu appears. There your can decide that the service should remain active to scan the area periodically. If you deactivate this function, the service ended after the first successful connection (like the old version 1.03). If this function is disabled, and Wi-Fi is active and you will start the service again, the wireless connection will be closed (as in the old version 1.03).
If you click your menu button, you can stop the service or stop the service and the wireless connection.
This app has been tested successfully on the following devices:
Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy S, HTC Desire HD, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Acer Iconia Tab A500, Motorola Defy, HTC Desire, HTC Evo 4G, HTC Sensation 4G, LG Optimus One, LG Optimus 2X

[2013-02-11] A Google User: Works pretty well Only sometimes (rarely) it says it switched to the stronger nw when it didn't and I would like it to do its work silently. So no permanent notification and no messages over my active app when it switches... 1 more star off because you can never turn wifi off with this enabled! Just turns it right back on. Idea is good, execution could be better. |
|
[2012-12-30] A Google User: Well Done! It will be perfect if it can switch off the Wifi after a period of time (in no Wifi condition). |
|
[2012-12-14] A Google User: Does what it says on the tin. Just what I needed for my home network using plug in wifi extenders. Having the scan set on every 5 seconds will eat your battery. I suggest every 60 seconds. |

[2012-02-04] A Google User: Good but needs one change When I'm in the middle of 2 access points, my wifi connection will switch between the 2 repeatedly. I recommend adding a customisable buffer (difference between the 2 signal qualities) that needs to be exceeded before switching from one to the other. I would probably set mine to approx. 10-15db's. since the signal appears to vary by approx. 6-8db's on my Transformer Prime with no movement. Thanks. |

[2011-10-31] A Google User: This should be included in Android Core! I could not believe Android is so stupid that it doesn't switch to a stronger network that you have used before. Luckily this app saves the day. You might want to reduce scan period though as default 5 seconds is a little harsh on battery life. |
