Keeps your Wifi radio active even while phone is idle. Very helpful to avoid unnecessary usage of your data plan.
Displays an indicator icon on the screen on whether Wifi radio is locked or unlocked.
Does not affect ability for you to manually switch off Wifi.
Note: Android 1.5 or greater already has this feature built in
