[2013-08-21] A Google User: Restore broken. Worthless to me now. Used to love this app, but now restores from Titanium Backup are completely worthless. I have to deactivate my token on all sites that I had it tied to. Sad. |
[2013-08-20] A Google User: Drains my battery? It sure seems like a coincidence that shortly after I installed on my phone my battery cannot make it through the day. Not sure if this is to blame. I would like to understand if others are experiencing the same problem. |
[2013-08-15] A Google User: Needs to link ID to a user As others say, it resets Id if restored from back-up or Rom is changed. ID should be associated to a user + a phone and there should be a way to restore it on a new installation. I use it with my bank account, but I reverted to my old physical token generator. |
[2013-08-12] A Google User: Works, but randomly resets The app works OK but lately it has been randomly resetting the credential. This is incredibly frustrating because if I am working remotely and relying on this credential I lose the ability to continue working if this happens! |
[2013-08-06] A Google User: No way to restore ID If you have to reformat your phone or reinstall the app you cannot restore the old ID like you can with the battle net authenticator.! Makes the app useless and locks you out of everything! |
[2013-08-01] A Google User: Negative commenter - Please read Changing of credential ID when application is restored is as per security features implemented by the vendor. This is to safeguard your account and prevent abuse by malicious transfer of application data and emulating device information by external parties. Symantec has your and clients best interests by this design so your negative comments are unwarranted and this is nothing that needs fixing. |
[2013-07-29] A Google User: Unable to use after application restore, changes the ID of the token and have to relink it to websites. |
[2013-07-16] A Google User: Wow Wow |
[2013-07-12] A Google User: Worse It keeps resetting my credentials, quit it! |
[2013-07-12] A Google User: Can't read the text I installed the app hoping to use it for work. The app installed without any issues, but when I run it, the text is unreadable. It's zoomed in for some reason. |
[2013-07-08] A Google User: What Happened to this App.. I used to swear by this app, it used to be an essential, but now it causes more problems than it's worth. Everytime it updates it changes the Credential ID and becomes useless. Now my accounts are so secure that even I can't get into them.. You used to able to restore the Credential ID from Titanium Backup, but you have Re-Activate everytime now, making this a waste of time too... I only gave it one star, because there was no 0 star rating... Shame on you Symantec.... |
[2013-06-30] A Google User: Added Measures! This is a great security feature to have, especially with the rise in identity theft. |
[2013-06-28] A Google User: Average After flashing new roms on my Galaxy S I just keep using an older version saved by Titanium Backup that I know works with the program! I don't believe it's anymore secure though than a normal password as most people hand there phone around like lollies... |
[2013-06-12] A Google User: Luv ya much |
[2013-06-05] A Google User: So tiny! One star until the app us updated for higher resolution devices. |
[2013-06-03] A Google User: Piece of poo Used to be fine. Now as everyone else states it resets the ID. I now cannot even login to ebay since when you click on "lost or damaged key" it calls you to give you a 4 pin code. Unfortunately at that point ebay states they are having technical difficulties so your basically Dead in the water. I cannot sign in with the key and thanks to ebay I cannot sign in because their site has problems. End result is I'm locked out,. Oh and Ebay isn't 24/7 support so I cant even contact them..... Useless.... I cant even get signed into Symantec VIP portal either.. |
[2013-06-02] A Google User: Randomly Re-registers, breaking access This has blown up twice on me where it suddenly registers the VIP all over again for no reason. Then I have to call the places I use VIP because my access is broken. Great idea if it becomes more stable. Now its become a nuisance. |
[2013-05-29] A Google User: Credential Issue This has been going on for a long time with my S3. It is annoying. I was switched to it by my company as an easier method for me to gain VPN access and instead I have had nothing but problems. Wish they would fix it. |
[2013-05-23] A Google User: Fix credential ID issue please! The issue with the resetting credential ID is inexcusable. I should be able to restore from Titanium Backup without re-registering this app with my employer every time I flash a new ROM. |
[2013-05-22] A Google User: Doesn't work on my phone at all Samsung galaxy s3 running jb 4.2. App is badly distorted with enormous text and is completely unusable. |
[2013-05-13] A Google User: Recently migrated from iPhone to Galalxy S4 re-installed VIP Access app, to have verisign authentication and the first time I tried to use it, guess what happens? Well if you've been reading the large volume of negative reviews recently, you already know. It randomly changed the user id to an unknown number, so I am no longer able to use the app to verify my identity when logging into PayPal. Worse there doesn't appear to be a way to change it back. Symantec, I don't know what you did, but you screwed up big time. |
[2013-05-11] A Google User: Not so good Often resets so I have to redo everything. Not as good as Google authenticator. |
[2013-05-11] A Google User: I love this app!!! |
[2013-05-10] A Google User: Easy to use And works great! |
[2013-05-09] A Google User: U |
[2013-05-03] A Google User: Very disappointing Absolutely disappointed, keeps resetting credential ID, what's the point of this app if you have to registering and registering and so on new security keys in the web sites... POS app.. It's so Symantec... Ghrrrr.... |
[2013-04-18] A Google User: Vip acces Ok |
[2013-04-11] A Google User: Resets credentials and locks you out I have this installed on 3 android devices to access Paypal. Right when I needed to access it all three came up with "Appplication Error", and upon restart generated a new token. My Paypal history shows that I have 11 "deactivated" tokens - one for each time this app has screwed up and locked me out. I use two-factor authentication anywhere it is available. My Google authenticator, RSA soft token and Blizzard mobile authenticator have never lost their credentials. Ever. This is a poorly written app and if Paypal offered any soft-token alternative, I would switch to it in a heartbeat. Install only if you have to and ensure you always have an alternative way in, because you can't trust this app to be the key you need when you need it. |
[2013-04-10] A Google User: It does what it supposed to do! |
[2013-04-08] A Google User: Awefully Stupid I have been using this app for 3 months, lost # of times the credentials reset. Extremely aggrevating. |
[2013-04-07] A Google User: Error code 6002 I understand that Symantec wants to make this app as secure as possible, but not being able to backup our credential ID in any way is ridiculous! I tried to simply make a backup and restore of the app+data with Titanium without changing anything in my mobile device... Of course, it gave "Error code 6002" and generated a new token which means I have to relink my PayPal and Ebay accounts yet another time! They should take the example of Blizzard with the Battle Net Authenticator which has a procedure to restore a credential ID! |
[2013-04-07] A Google User: Yo Symantec, this is useless. The Credential ID continually resets itself upon re-opening app after long period of time. You guys DO know how seeding works, correct? If the seed changes...then the security code won't work! Whoa! I dunno who designed this but, for real, why did you guys implement updates to fix minor features, and BREAKS major features...doesn't that seem a little...odd, to you? |
[2013-04-01] A Google User: Me too: Keeps resetting Credential ID This app worked fine for two years, a few bugs in the UI, but solid. Recent updates have made the widget not bring up the app, but worse, sometimes the counter stops counting so the ID displayed gets stale. It still seemed to be stable running on 4.1.3 (if memory serves). A couple days after the shiny new 4.2.2 OS upgrade, I've experienced the data loss/credential reset problem three times now. Not cool, Google, not cool, Symantec. |
[2013-03-28] A Google User: Great app! Great app. Not sure why others are saying this is crap n all. Eliminates a physical key to carry around. |
[2013-03-26] A Google User: Worthless now Credential ID changes all of the time making it worthless to me. |
[2013-03-21] A Google User: Latest version reset application ID After the Feb 18th update the credntial ID is changed every time I clear the cache on my phone. |
[2013-03-21] A Google User: Latest versions reset application IDs randomly The 1.x versions of this app were solid and I never had any issues with them. The recent updates have caused me countless headaches as the app complains that it can't initialize and then creates a new credential ID. This means I have to go through a process of registering the new id and removing the old one. This app is just not reliable and it's annoying that I have no choice but to use it. On the other hand, since you can't even get into your accounts because of this bug, everything is very secure. |
[2013-03-16] A Google User: Really, really...REALLY unreliable Used to love this but it faults every day or two now, which results in a new credential ID and requiring work around logins to accounts and re-registering the new token ID. This app has evolved into junk. |
[2013-03-15] A Google User: Constantly resets Credential ID On my RAZR MAXX. Resets credential ID nearly every day. Used to work flawlessly. Really frustrating. Please fix! |
[2013-03-13] A Google User: What happened? The credentialing ID keeps resetting making it impossible to use. Please fix. |
[2013-03-09] A Google User: Constant ID changing The past week every time I have tried to use the verisign, it creates a new Credential ID. Needless to say, that causes problem with my work VPN and other personal uses. |
[2013-03-09] A Google User: Keeps resetting credential ID Application used to work flawlessly. Recent upgrade has bugs. Credential ID keeps resetting too a new # about every other day. Very frustrating. I installed this app to avoid carrying my keyring authenticator, however this app is now practically useless until this bug is fixed. |
[2013-02-25] A Google User: Excellent VIP I feel more secured. This tool is superb |
[2013-02-24] A Google User: We will see 2/18 update seems to have corrected the problem. Previously Reset credential ID several times in the last few days effectively locking me out of my accounts. Useless until it is fixed. |
[2013-02-23] A Google User: Problematic on changing devices or updates It worked well for a little time, but once I got a system update for my Galaxy S3, this app gave a 6002 error and created a new Credential ID, which is bad. now I will be charged by the bank to be able to change the ID again... not the first time that this happens.. this is the n-th confirmation of Symantec reliability... Symantec support says they will fix the issues with v2.0.1 by Monday (2/18/2013 PST). But I stopped trusting this app, so bye bye verisign vip. |
[2013-02-22] A Google User: Great app Does exactly what what a key card does without the expense |
[2013-02-21] A Google User: It does what is intended, which isn't all that great This is essentially Google Authenticator but designed to fill the screen with a branding identity rather than multiple keystreams. Also, this hasn't the open source review/audit process nor does it have any useful API, so the only place that this will ever see use is by Symantec and even so for just one service. I wish they would actually adopt the universal standard to replace this cruftware. |
[2013-02-19] A Google User: Great Security option I love having this enabled on my paypal and etrade accounts. Can't wait for the peace of mind when my regular bank finally adopts this. |
[2013-02-18] A Google User: Works greats updated with 2.0.1 and its works fine |
[2013-02-18] A Google User: Update fixed issue Working fine on stock rom and no reset seen |
[2013-02-18] A Google User: Update Please update the app to HD resolution. |
[2013-02-18] A Google User: Keeps resetting Has reset on me constantly! Not sure why it has been happening at the frequency its happening. Never happened before until recently |
[2013-02-16] A Google User: Keeps resetting cred ID.... It screws me over!! |
[2013-02-16] A Google User: Latest update broke it Resetting after update locking me out of my account. I had it disconnected. |
[2013-02-15] A Google User: Keeps requiring reactivation Ever since the last upgrade, the program keep requiring reactivation making this program less than useless until it's fixed because you have to re-register code at member sites. Please fix!!! |
[2013-02-15] A Google User: Was fine, suddenly stopped working! Today it suddenly stopped working with error code. I am travelling and need to login to my bank. This is terrible. Galaxy Nexus |
[2013-02-15] A Google User: Horrible Update Ever since the update I have to call corporate because me key requires reactivation every time I restart my phone. As a frequent traveler my phone is bring restarted almost daily. What a huge pain! |
[2013-02-13] A Google User: crap The latest update killed my credential id. Had to go through the pain of getting it revoked and the new one registered on lots of sites. Not happy Jan! What good is 2 factor auth if the token breaks?? |
[2013-02-13] A Google User: So far so good The only issue I have with this app is the text size...someone 10 feet away can read it over your shoulder...might want to take it down a size or 2. |
[2013-02-12] A Google User: Affecting Access to Job! What is going on? VIP is changing my Credential ID so I can't login. The error tells me to go the the desktop I use to login thru the internet, but I can't get on the internet unless I'm logged in! I have to call my IT deptartment to get logged in thru them. This should NOT be happening. Please change APP back to how it was before the dreadful update! |
[2013-02-11] A Google User: Piece of garbage On encrypted phones, after a restart it will require reactivation and will not ever work any more. |
[2013-02-10] A Google User: Multiple devices/one acct App seems to work fine w/USAA as long as you associate one credential from one device with your acct. As soon as you attempt > 1 device, acct forces credential change. |
[2013-02-10] A Google User: Update corrupts on launch My company relies on this application for remote authentication. With large corporate customers depending on it, you'd think thus would have been addressed days ago. |
[2013-02-09] A Google User: Recredentialing everytime I restart makes my day get started slower. PLEASE FIX ASAP |
[2013-02-08] A Google User: Update ruined it Keeps changing my credential ID now which makes the authentication useless! |
[2013-02-08] A Google User: Frustration!! Keeps resetting my credential id so it is useless!!. Its happened four times in three days causing me to have to re register my id # each time! |
[2013-02-08] A Google User: Latest version keeps resetting Credential ID This app used to work fine but with the latest update this week the app keeps resetting the Credential ID almost every day, causing me to have to reregister the ID over and over. Very annoying. |
[2013-02-08] A Google User: Awful After latest update the credential is constantly resets. Totally unacceptable. |
[2013-02-07] A Google User: Corrupted itself I updated to the latest version, and after opening it gave me a 6xxx error saying that I need to submit a new credential ID to my account. This is a problem because I need the old credential ID to even do that. Really frustrating. Learned my lesson, though: I will be installing the desktop version on my Mac and PC in addition to my phone once I get this cleared up, so that I don't have one point of failure. If you don't have this problem, and are only using it on your phone you should consider adding a second authenticator if you have the ability to do so! |
[2013-02-05] A Google User: perfect and simple interface is simple and generated codes are perfect. |
[2013-02-05] A Google User: Great app Working great in ny samsung device |
[2013-02-05] A Google User: Simple and Fast Works great for what it's meant to do. |
[2013-02-04] A Google User: Widget only works for some time. After some time widget starts launching the app instead of showing the number, which makes it completely useless... |
[2013-02-04] A Google User: Does what it is supposed to do. |
[2013-02-04] A Google User: works fine with note 1 |
[2013-02-03] A Google User: Beware, stay away from this piece of shit... I have installed it to use on Ebay and now I am stuck... the app does not run any more and gives me the error code 6014... As a result I have been effectively kicked out from ebay and lost a stellar reputation that took me more then 10 years to build. Beware, stay away from this piece of shit... |
[2012-12-14] A Google User: Ok Ok |
[2012-11-29] A Google User: Works fine on Galaxy Nexus Just installed it on my GSM Galaxy Nexus (Jelly Bean) to see if there was any change from the previous comments. So far I've had no problems with it. |
[2012-11-11] A Google User: Works fine but kills battery MyTouch 4G Gingerbread...app works fine but got suspicious that this app keeps running all the time, when relaunching the app had the token timer below the 30 second refresh interval, i.e. constantly generating tokens even while app is supposedly closed. Was draining the battery like crazy. I hope they fix it soon. |
[2012-11-03] A Google User: Fixed for Galaxy Nexus!!! Jellybean I wrote a pretty good rant when under ICS as it just didn't work. The screen was just too small to see... Now under Jellybean 4.1 everything is back to normal. Works as expected. |
[2012-10-28] A Google User: Works great! Just installed it on my galaxy nexus for use on facebook, it works fine. Don't know why people are having trouble. |
[2012-10-22] A Google User: Working fine without any issues |
[2012-10-15] A Google User: Droid does not fit in screen of a DROID razor |
[2012-10-10] A Google User: unusable appears to not be able to cope with the motorola pro+ screen resolution |
[2012-09-19] A Google User: Samsung Galaxy Nexus Works great. I am glad to have extra security when I sign in now |
[2012-09-14] A Google User: Pretty good, but... Everything works fine on my Samsung Galaxy Note except the widget. When tapping the widget it is suppose to immediately display the security code. A number of times I have had it load the full app instead. The only way I can fix that is to remove the widget from the home screen and re-add it. Then it starts working as expected again. It's a pretty minor issue really. |
[2012-09-10] A Google User: Works like a charm The app does what it says. (Logintoken for PayPal in my case) I use it with my Galaxy Nexus with android 4.1.1 and I don't have any issues with font size etc. |
[2012-09-05] A Google User: Needs work Doesn't work with DNS. Have to type in host IP addresses. |
[2012-09-01] A Google User: One device less to carry |
[2012-08-29] A Google User: A must have Get it. It will come in handy more and more. |
[2012-08-24] A Google User: Works gr8! I was able to use successfully for both eBay & PayPal. PS- don't pay PayPal for their token keychain, this does same for free. |
[2012-08-18] A Google User: Awesome Does exactly what it is supposed to do |
[2012-08-12] A Google User: Crashes Works for a while on my SGS3, then after a while I get error code 6014. Sucks as I really want to use it! |
[2012-08-03] A Google User: Guess its not just me.... Looks like is not activating for other people either. EVO 4G Android 2.3 |
[2012-07-28] A Google User: Widget doesn't work consistently When first added to homesceen, the widget shows the code when tapped in the designated area a few times. But soon it starts launching the app on tap, defeating the purpose of the widget as you have to select home or back key after each use. Very annoying! |
[2012-07-20] A Google User: Crashes now! |
[2012-07-16] A Google User: Nice Works. Great |
[2012-07-11] A Google User: Great app! Works great! Use it daily |
