'Ringer mode locker'.its has always ringer and always silent mode and widget.

This application is an operation prevention application program of the volume button.

Never silent is checked:set vibrate or ringer.
Never ring is checked:set vibrate or silent.
both checked:only vibrate mode

It's simple and it works. I'm deaf so I never need my phone to ring but I always need it to vibrate and this app makes sure that's always true.

What does this update do? Also, no audible turn-by-turn instructions with Google Maps since Android 2.1. Will remove this app to see if its the cause

Yes you can do that. Open up messages and hit the menu button then settings. Then scroll to bottom and select Vibrate
