VerbTeX is a free, collaborative LaTeX Editor for your Android device. It allows you to create and manage LaTeX projects directly on your Android device and generate a PDF by using the LaTeX service available at http://www.verbosus.com
Features:
* 2 Modes: Local (stores .tex documents on your device) and Remote (synchronizes your projects with www.verbosus.com)
* Generate and view the PDF from your LaTeX projects
* Syntax highlighting
* Line numbers
* Collaboration (Remote Mode)
* Project import (Local Mode: Copy your existing .tex and other files to your local project folder in VerbTeX/Local/[projectname])
* File upload (Local Mode)
* Autosave (Local Mode: Menu -> Options -> Autosave Interval)
* Custom template for new .tex files (Local Mode)
* Specify root directory (Menu -> Options -> Location of VerbTeX Folder)
* Search for text inside a document (Find)
* Copy project from Local Mode to Remote Mode
* Copy project from Remote Mode to Local Mode
Additional features in VerbTeX Pro:
* Encrypted transmission (TLS) of your content
* Unlimited number of documents (Local Mode)
Limitations in free VerbTeX version:
* Max. number of documents per project (Local Mode): 2
* Max. number of files to upload per project (Local Mode): 4
Add existing .tex/.png/.jpg/.pdf/.sty/.bst/.cls/.clo files in Local Mode: Put them in the VerbTeX folder on your SD card (/sdcard/VerbTeX/[project]/). Please note: At least one .tex file must exist. The name of the project is the /[project]/ folder name.
Add existing .tex/.png/.jpg/.pdf/.sty/.bst/.cls/.clo files in Remote Mode: Login at www.verbosus.com with your browser and upload your files
Change the default template for new .tex files: Add a file called 'template.tex' in your local root project folder (/sdcard/VerbTeX/Local/template.tex). The next time you add a new document to a project the new .tex file will be filled with the text of your template.tex file.
Dropbox support: Since Dropbox currently doesn't allow to change the sync-folder please use another App (like 'DropSync') that allows that or use another sync App like 'SugarSync'.

[2012-07-06] Eduardo: Very nice app Muy biuen |
[2012-07-04] govind: Sweet I had my resume with a .cls. I just put them in the same directory as my Tex file and it worked perfectly! |
[2012-07-03] Frantchesco C.: Very good app |
[2012-06-21] Andrey: better than this you won't find It is a very good app. It has everything and can do everything I need. I really enjoy using this app for writing texts. Use a good PDF viewer, if you want your texts to be shown correctly. |
[2012-06-20] Nandish Ratkal: Really cool Just downloaded it. will keep using it to check out what else can it handle and then revise my rating, but i am totally impressed! |
[2012-06-20] Jordan: Latex For Android? A very well done app, as well as a very helpful developer. I emailed the developer to suggest an update, and they responded to me, and created that update the next day. This app allows me to do quite a bit, very helpful when taking notes. Reccomended and thanks! |
[2012-06-20] keszegh: good latex editor and compiler including eps file is not working for me now though. |
[2012-06-19] Johann: almost perfect It is a very very good app. It can almost everything what I need. Only one thing is not working correctly. If I use beamer class, klick on "Generate & Show PDF", then only one page will be created. On PC the same code generates as many pages as it should. |
[2012-06-05] SeriousWorm: Good Good app but didn't recognize my cls file. Kind of useless without it. |
[2012-06-03] arif: Great app GREAT app. I love it. Simple thing but help us to create latex document. Thanks. |
[2012-05-20] Oliver: Good LaTeX editor Very good and simple to use editor. Would be useful to be able to upload pdf images, which currently doesn't work |
[2012-05-20] Cheetahmk2: I know that Copy+Paste allows you to "open" documents But you should not have to resort to that. Lose 3 stars (used to lose 4, but instructions on "importing" have been added above). Good editor, but talk about a fatal flaw |
[2012-05-16] J: Looks great Great interface. Simple. Please don't go the way of other great apps and update into overcomplicated oblivion! |
[2012-05-01] Veera: Great app, shame it forgets your login A really handy app. Slightly let down by the verbosus browser based desktop offering, which is messy by comparison. Get a bluetooth keyboard though! |
[2012-05-01] Jarryd: Nice app Good app, some small bugs, but otherwise works well |
[2012-05-01] Mike: Great application Developer was quick to respond to questions and very helpful. The program has already been super useful and its only been 2 days. |
[2012-04-30] Conrad: Serious risk of losing work Although it generally works very nicely on my Asus Transformer (though the syntax highlighting can make it rather sluggish, which is disappointing), I've just made the unpleasant discovery that in local-mode, hitting 'Back' loses your current work since you last saved (and that generating a pdf doesn't seem to save a copy of your latex). If something could be done about this I'd give a much higher rating, but this is too much of a risk for me to comfortably recommend this to others! Edit: Discovered Auto-save option. I now feel a little silly, but might suggest that the auto-save is enabled by default. |
[2012-04-15] csgeek: Love it. It lets me view, edit, and generate PDFs. |
[2012-04-05] Adam: Doesnt work on my samsung galaxy tab |
[2012-02-03] Piggly: Perfect. Works like a charm. Just moved my diploma thesis to verbtex. Uploads files automatically located in verbtex folder. Connected to dropbox. |
[2012-02-02] Warren: Can't upload files, can't compile offline This might be a step in the right direction, but... 1) You can't upload a file. So you have to cut and paste your entire document into the edit window. Plus, you can't upload figures or bibtex files. So really, you can only compile the most basic files. 2) Compiling is done online. What if I want to work in a location without wifi? What if the wifi is slow, and I want to recompile many times to debug? Miktex is only about 50Mb, surely my 8Gb tablet could handle a full compiler on it? Somebody please.... |
[2011-11-15] Julian Z Xue: Excellent. No Undo or Find functions. Excellent application, works as intended. Although cannot open existing files, copy and pasting from existing files works just file. One can add files into the VerbTex folder, and can, presumably, use include, although I haven't tried. Figures in jpg work great, but not in eps or pdf. Must have internet to compile tex. Has no "find" or "undo" function though, so finding text or correct giant unintended mistakes (selected all --> spacebar) is really hard. Save often! |
[2011-09-19] Arshad: very handy. highly recommended. |
[2011-08-30] Brunhild: Exactly what I was looking for: 5* |
[2011-05-11] Alan: Works well when pasting text from pre-prepared LaTeX source. Requires kinetic scrolling and ability to open local files. |
[2011-05-01] swb: Fine if you are starting from scratch but nobody ever does that. It needs the ability to add existing files and folders. |
[2011-04-15] BG: Cannot open existing tex files on your phone, have to create new ones. Therefore pretty useless. |
[2011-04-07] CyberK: Doesn't support Hebrew. |
[2011-02-12] Ashik: Doesn't cover the full screen in Samsung Galaxy Tab. Also cannot open an existing .tex file. |
[2011-02-06] Drezha: Great app, does as it says on the tin Works well - Only ever edited local files though for which it worked well. Also used with Dropbox app fine. Nice addition would be colour coding for the TeX code. |
[2011-02-02] edmundoa: Useful application This application is really useful to edit and create your documents on the go. I use to combine it with Dropbox to share files with my computer. |
[2011-01-14] Sarah: Works well,very useful. Better if it could open existing .tex files,not created in Verbtex and have colour input text as with nedit to make clearer. |
[2010-12-08] Daem; .m,p: Need a little more freedom to adjust the deeper aspects of tEX |

[2010-11-02] Christian: Can't open local files. Annoying! |
[2010-10-29] Forest: Great app. Would be helpful if you could compile the tex file to html and then share it with someone in an email. |
[2010-08-13] fynali: Great app; thanks. Why not have a button that inserts {} with one click and places the text input cursor inside the braces... |

[2010-07-27] Chris Smith: I have been wishing for this for ages. Thank you! The toolbar with backslash is especially appreciated. |
